So I just bought, and started eve a few hours ago. I have made my character, and completed a few of the tutorial missions. I'll probably get a few more of them done, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of travelling, controlling my ship, activating modules and that sort of thing. So now, my question is.
What should I do? Are there any suggestions on where to go after the tutorial? What are the best ways to make money? Where do I go? What do I get? Any help would be appreciated :) |

There's a story arc aimed towards new players called the Blood-Stained Stars which is sort of an extended tutorial that will give you a bunch of skillbooks and startup cash.
Outside of that, you pretty much figure out what sounds cool to you then do it. There really isn't any sort of standard progression. Find something you want to get into and join a corp that does it. |

I'll link the infamous chart: http://swiftandbitter.com/eve/wtd/
But yes, do the Arnon/SOE arc first, it puts you on your feet. - "Do not touch anything unnecessarily. Might give that Blood-Stained Stars arc a go :) it sounds like it gives a decent amount of startup cash. Thanks! |

I think the only advice I can give you is to decide what you enjoy and find a corporation that can help you do it.
For example, if you like mining go join an industrial corp and join in on belt clearance operations.
If you prefer combat go and join a corporation that specialises in it, be it pvp or running missions for cash!
Eve is a HUGE game with many paths to try, and the best thing is there is no limit to how many you can try.
As an example I started out as a low end mission runner, then joined a mining corp so learnt how to do that.
I then did some research after our corp got wardecced and helped many of our members train up basic combat abilities for the next wardec.
I also invested a lot of time and skillpoints in building rigs at cost for my corporation with all the salvage we got from our mission runners.
After that we started holding Frig Fest, which was a weekly corp pvp event with all players limited to Frigates and T1 fittings. We then graduated to taking our now battle tested players along with braver new guys out for low key roams in lowsec in expendable ships for fun.
Next was a brief stint as an explorer looking for Radar and Combat sites in Low and High security space. Then I started daytripping to Wormhole space and making a lot of isk and also getting blown up regularly.
And now I have my own corporation living in our own Class 4 wormhole and no longer worry (much) about isk.
Basically, YOU set your own path, you will meet a lot of interesting people along the way - and probably shoot them. My missus thinks of EvE as 'the other woman'. :) |

Do all the other tutorial missions as well while you're at it. Even the boring ones like the mining one and the probing one.
They run down all the basics of the interface and how the game mechanics work at the simplest level, so even if you're never going to do trading or whatever the two or three hours it takes to go through everything is probably worth your time. Plus, it gives your combat skills some time to train up before you head over to Arnon and start having NPCs beat on you.
Once you've finished Blood-Stained Stars and the additional 3-4 hours cursing the name of whatever Dev came up with Dagan, I'd just mess around with whatever seems interesting while looking for a corporation. Fair warning, you probably want to work out some way to make money before you start trying PvP or anything in low security space, those will get you blown up a lot and you'll want to have the cash reserve to replace lost ships. |

Hmz, yet another what should I do thread. Why is there a sudden spike in these threads lately. Well here it goes:
Welcome to EVE Online, the worlds 2nd biggest sandbox (only slightly behind the Sahara Dessert).
This more or less covers it. It's a sandbox, each player gets a bucket (ship) and shovel (ISK) and is sent in. What you are doing to do with these tools is totally up to you.
Like linked before: http://swiftandbitter.com/eve/wtd/
Great overview of possible things you can do. Keep in mind you are not bound to anything, so you can start as a miner and later on decide you don't like it and move into Missions.
Also best thing to remember. EVE is paid by your money, so play it your way. Play it the way you are having fun. There are no bad decisions on what you are going to do as long as you make them (and not let someone else tell you how to play EVE).
Also:
There is NO best ship. Each ship has it's situations it's great in and each ship has it's situations where it ends in a big explosion.
There is NO best ISK making. True some things make more ISK then others, but maybe you don't like to play that part of the game. Do what you want to do, ISK is just a tool to help you do stuff.
What do I get: Depends on what you like to do. But as a starter, finish all the tutorials (AURA + 5 career agents) and do the SoE Epic arc in Arnon. These things will make you familiar with EVE. You said you already know the basics of how EVE works, I would disagree with it and think there are situations where you would be wrong 90% of the time. EVE isn't learned in a day or 2, even players who play multiple years still learn new stuff from others or their own mistakes. Inject your skillbook before you leave the station. Neo didnGÇÖt learn Kung-Fu by having it sit in his usb drive.-á If it moves, shoot it. If it doesn't move, poke it with your gun and then shoot it. Don't forget getting shot by them. A lot of people do, get reminded and get mad.
Beyond that, I have to reiterate that finding a good corp is of utmost importance, and separating the wheat from the chaff in that regard is probably the hardest thing to do early on. -RubyPorto

I did some mining for a while :) I have also been training up some skills, doing a few missions and I have managed to get hold of a few frigates, and a cheap destroyer. Also, I have been looking for a good Corp. Does anyone know of one that would accept new players like myself? |

Since when has E-Uni recruitment been less than 3 weeks? That's sure changed.
On topic: it pays to hang around and read a lot about the game. You'll start spotting things that look interesting, then you can bend your path that way. - "Do not touch anything unnecessarily. One thing that I did when I first started out (and this is completely up to you) is that at some point soon, the Game will send you a gift of a set of implants which expire in 30 days but are designed to give you a quick/temporary boost in skill training. I turned around and sold them instead, and made a few million right off the bat. The best thing about a boolean is even if you are wrong, you are only off by a bit. |

aside from the sarcasm, that takes a very long time and a lot of isk for us new folks. I've been skilling up for a hulk since I started. Mining barge V alone is like 17 days and that's with basic implants, not to mention all the other skills.
I don't understand why some things take so long? The best thing about a boolean is even if you are wrong, you are only off by a bit. |

I found mining to be a poor way to make money early on in the game. It seems that skills and equipment is required to make money mining. If you do plan on eventually flying a Hulk I guess it is a good time to start the long skill ladder. I see people often talking about salvaging as good way to start while lacking skills or resources.
I made a my first few billion trading in high sec right after the new NEX items were released. I literally pumped a good 18 hours a day into it for those first few days (had my days off work then) and continued to invest a good number of hours in the following week, but it paid about as well per hour as what veterans make mining and running level 4 missions from what I hear. The market has really cooled down now, but I have enough money to last me until I am done training my blockade runner for low sec trading. Trading is one of the easier ways to make money with no skills, but some would consider it more boring than mining.
The general advise here seems to get in with a corp, unless you are weird like me (for now at least) and don't mind soloing EVE. |

He is talking about the cerebral implant, the one that gives you extra +3 attributes and extra dps etc as a new player.
To Ano: you only get that gift for first 30 days of extra training boosts if you buy the C.E. version of the game. He is talking about "set" of implants so probably that +2 set from CCP for those who didn't select any gift. Maybe that must be redeemed within 30 days?
Cerebral Accelerator would not be given to just any player, only to those who bought special edition which includes it. Also selling Cerebral Accelerator would give around 150-200 mil ISK, not just "few" million ISK like +2 implant set.

That's what he's saying. I know sometimes it's difficult to realize just how much you spend on incidental things each month or year, but seriously, EVE is very cheap entertainment compared to most things... If you are a smoker, smoke one less pack a week and pay for EVE, with money left over to pick up a cheap bundle of flowers for the EVE widow upstairs. |
