And there's still no information about signups or the slot auction process.
Also, is the 60d rule based on the hour (i.e if a corp joined at 1600 on the last day possible it's technically after 60 days) or will any corps that joined on/before the 60d rule went into effect be able to participate.

There really should have been a news item warning people of the 60d deadline for joining an alliance since it is a new rule this year. The signups are over a week late which is pretty unacceptable, if you are going to give out a deadline then live up to it. It is very unprofessional to be over a week late on such a simple assignment.
I would speculate that they haven't found an auction system that they like or perhaps CCP Claw is just lazy. It will also be fairly hilarious if CCP Claw disqualifies someone for being 1-2 days late in joining a corp/alliance while he is late for over a week...

Life as a spectator is less stressful :).
They said 60days once, do they have to spell it out in 27 languages daily for it to sink in!
So signups are late, and people bidding for slots who don't even know what the prizes are. This is how it roll's - its the trend, why should the 60 day aspect be any different.
One thing you can be sure on in the next 60 days at least one of the rules will change and the prizes will be handed out in more than 60 days after the final match. This is how it roll's - its the trend.
Me - I'm goona enjoy spectatoring this year and for me the whole aspect of the 60days limit is still crystal clear without a GM reading the rules out to me a few dozen times so they sink in.
If the 60 day rule bothers you that much then your not organised enough to win and as such your shortcommings have been a blessing in that you have saved isk.
Besides Viper - I thought you prefered to steal other peoples prizes so how does this effect you

Im pretty sure that the announcement of when signups start does not in any way affect the fact that the 60 day rule was announced a long time ago.
But if you just want to find something to post about - sure :)

Viper I knew this guy from back in Burn Eden. You are not going to get any info out of him. He will do what he wants when he wants, not knowing anything about pvp, or even realize teams like ours have begun practicing already even without finalized notes.
Unfulfilled promises and no one knowing what the hell is going on, is what the alliance tournament is all about.

Thinking of how things went down last year...
I ended up flying with Noir. last year basically because of a lack of bodies and SOMEONE had to be the last slot, even though I had only been in corp a handful of days.
Now... suppose teams have the same kind of problems this year... a late drop out/stress induced stroke/whatever... are teams going to be forced to come a man light (up to 21 points) because available corp members are a few days short ?
I do slightly resent that I can't compete this year (took a break to be educated and will only have 58 days back in corp), but I'm a big boy and I'll get over it. What im sure a lot of other people will resent is that if push comes to shove new highly active corps/members will be forced to sit and watch their alliance team going down in flames because one or two regulars weren't available.
I get that this is supposed to stop people joining only for the tournament, but surely we can relax it a bit if it'll push teams out without really having a chance to fight ?

That's why you have spare pilots and plan for that kind of thing ;P If you weren't prepared enough to survive 1-2 people bailing then odds are you would've lost anyway.

Edited by: Valea Silpha on 05/05/2010 21:49:52 Just out of curiosity... how many people should you plan on having unexpectedly unavailable ?
The nature of unexpected abscence is that you don't know how many or indeed when you will known.
BTW... The match I flew in on a half hours notice, we won. A plan is still a good plan, and sometimes you just need people in ships to make it work.

Thats kinda my point tho.
Previously ANYONE who was under your banner and could be arm twisted into showing up on zero notice could be tossed a jersey. Now the 60 day thing excludes people who are online, in ships, on comms and ready to kick ass because they weren't in that corp or alliance BEFORE that alliance was certain it would be competing.
Now it does make sense to stop people forming pro-tourmanet teams for hire because that's not a reflection of an alliances ability. What is unfair is teams being unable to field newer recruits, even if the only other option at the time is concede.

Cloaking is currently impossible in real life so i expect the entire noir. team will appear for their matches. ______________________________

1) This is a tournament. If your guys cant commit to show up, you should get different guys, or be prepared to deal with losing them. It's your job to deal with the rules.
2) Its not unfair, its just a side effect of a rule that has completely worked as intended, and again something that as a team you need to take into account.
