Taking a break from EvE soon, and was wondering what continues and what ceases when sub expires?
- Skill training
- Agent Resaarch
- PI Resource collection / Manufacture
- Market Buy / Sell orders
- Ability to access this forum
- Anything else i might have missed?
Ignore this rant if you must. I thoroughly enjoyed EvE up until the Inferno patch ruined the UI (it has potnetial, but is far from reaching it at the moment) In addition to that i have had enough of DT in the middle of my premium playing time (8pm - 10pm AEST) Would be nice if once a week DT could be shifted a few hours so as i could get involved in some midweek evening action with others. this could be easily scheduled and planned for/around for everyone. Anyway, 2 days to go then i'm off for a while (along with my alt)
Cheers! +1 This thread in protest of the Unified inventory introduced in Inferno https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=112161 |

Pretty sure that agent research will continue with you being AFK. At least it used to. Whole research-alt farming problem. People would create alts and just have them research, cash in a year later. I'm not sure if they ever fixed it. |

As far as I am aware almost everything ceases when your subscription ends, though I have heard that your skills continue to train for a couple of days. As for market buy/sell orders I would think that they would stay as they are, can't see any real reason why they should suddenly vanish. PI material collection probably continues until the point where the harvesters would need restarting, and PI production probably continues until one or more of the components is depleted. Your ability to browse the forums remains intact, though your ability to post ceases.
As for downtime, it has always been at the time it is because of the location of the servers and the location of the CCP offices. The offices and EVE both run on GMT, thus downtime takes place during business hours (unsurprisingly) as this is the most effective time to do so. CCP would never move downtime, but they have continually stated that their aim is to reduce the length of time the servers are down to the point at which they no longer need to actually have a downtime at all.
Enjoy your break and we'll see you in a few months. Numbers of terminally stupid people seem to be on the increase, I suggest we have a real life Stupidageddon to rectify this issue. |

If you're talking about research points (datacores) then yes it was fixed about two years ago.
I'd strongly suggest not having any anchored assets (i.e. POS) around either, unless a friend with Director rights will maintain it.
OP - Have fun, and enjoy yourself.
I may have come here from Myst Online, but that does not make me any less bloodthirsty than the average Eve player.
Just more subtle.

I have a relevant question to ask if I may.
What about manufacturing jobs? I'm preparing for a break as well with a few of my accts and was going to have my builder start a few jump freighters cooking.
Be nice if they were built and ready to go when I return.

My Eve break is coming up in about 5 days, got a new Harley
2002 Wide glide that got submerged during Katrina then rebuilt using 2003 parts, Screaming Eagle jets add about 8hp to the bored out 1600cc (started out as 1450cc) engine and now I get about 40 mpg instead of 50. Take that, stupid environment!

Mr Epeen that sounds like an awesome idea - technetium prices will certainly increase as more details about Soundwave's "transmutate all the things" plan emerge. |

Are you kidding me? Downtime is like 5-15min these days
When I was a lad we had hour+ long DT every night, followed by 30 min of traffic control lockouts and hotfixes

Unless things have changed manu jobs continue as normal. They will be deliverable. I used to use this to great effect years ago while running POS operations with alt accounts back when they still have the 30 day gtcs but CCP has nerfed a lot of the ghosting over the years. Strength isnt measured in numbers but in force of will. For if one motived willful individual stands many will fall around him that are weak.

Skill points continue accruing for a short grace period after the subscription expires. I think it's three days.
Research points are probably the same, but I have not tested this.
Market orders will continue to be serviced while stocks last (hurry! offer ends soon!).
"Assembly line" jobs (i.e: manufacturing, research, invention) will continue until they come to their expected end (complete and ready to deliver, or POS runs out of fuel/gets reinforced/blown up/stolen).
This is not legal advice. Do not make plans based on (a) the fidelity of this advice to the actual game mechanics or (b) the fidelity of the game mechanics of tomorrow to the game mechanics of yesterday. Do not use this advice in the control system of a nuclear reactor. Yadda yadda.
PS: if you are logged in when your subscription expires, you will be instantly logged out without warning. Found that one out the hard way. Well, it could have been harder if my ship was tackled at the time: but it was only webbed.

I'm Australian, have been playing EVE since the Mac client was a public beta of Transgaming's Cider, have lived through periods of time where expansion releases meant multiple days of the servers being unavailable during Australian Eastern peak times while they (a) patched the game, then (b) patched the bugs the patch introduced. Downtimes were an hour, sometimes more.
I had actually shifted my dinner time to fit EVE Online's daily downtime. During Summer, I'd have dinner early and thank CCP for shutting the game down so that I could get to bed at 10pm like a sensible person.
Then CCP changed the downtimes, so now they're 4-15 minutes long! The bastards! When am I supposed to get any sleep, or eat my dinner? Downtime is so short that I get a couple of forum posts in, then I see the "Tranquility: ONLINE" message appear, and bam I'm sucked into another four hours of Internet spaceships.
And all that entirely evades any mention of shuffling skill training so that I'd always go to bed with a longer-than-8-hours skill training, and wake up to turn on EVE before I even had a shower or ate breakfast, so I could then shuffle skills to have one training that would last until I got home from work. All my "less than 8 hour" skills got trained in that two hour period between waking up and heading to work, or the four hour period between arriving home from work and downtime.
So as an Australian, I acknowledge that it's a right royal pain in the bum to have downtime at 9pm/10pm. On the other hand, you can plan around it. And as an old fart, let me tell you that you don't know just how good you've got it! Day 0 advice for new players: Day 0 Advice for New Players |

They used to allow ghost training. This meant that skills Would continue training after an account expires. I can't remember exactly when it was, but they disabled ghost training in 06 or 07.
This resulted in a thread of too many pages to count that was one huge snowball of rant.
If you use the third party Eve search engine and look for ghost training, its one of the first results. |
