Hey guys, I need PVP advice pls. Im in a ceptor, I jump through gate. On the other side theres a Sabre, 16km away. I stay cloaked and check which is the closest thing im aligned to, I click that and warp. He launches bubbles and hits me from 16km with a Scrambler(some faction type I assume). I cant escape, MWD doesnt work, 2 volleys Im dead. This has happened to many times to me. How do I escape that??
Hope to hear from all you hardcore killer sooon

Method 1: Overload mid rack. Look at where Sabre is, mwd in the opposite direction of him.
Method 2: Hold cloak for 30 seconds. MWD back to gate and jump out.
You should be much faster than the sabre, if you mwd away there is no way he can catch you with a 16km lead.

And no matter which ship you are in, never try warping away when there is a dictor/hictor on the gate (well on regional gate if you would be outside bubble range you can do it). They will always drop the bubble before you are in warp, which stops your warp and leaves you idle in space, with him mwd'ing towards you.

You have a session timer for 30 seconds meaning you can't jump back, you stay cloaked for 60 seconds. So make use of that time to figure out what to do.
Trying to burn to where you need to warp to is a classic mistake, bacause it's kinda obvious (specially if there's only 1 outgate or they're all lined up a bit) so the camp can maneuvre into position for it. FIRST you need to clear the buble which is a case of exiting the bubble the fastest (in case of a covops) or burning away from the tacklers (in case of an intie).
In your case use those 60 second cloaked time to do the following;
- set "keep at range" to a HUGE number, click the dictor once so he's highlighted. - click "keep at range" and activate your MWD (if need be then also overload it)
You will now move away from the dictor at the best possible angle and he should NEVER be able to catch up with you, once you're well out of his range drop the overload, align where you want to go and warp there. Don't forget to set "keep at range" back to where you want it to.

Edited by: Amarr Supremacist on 11/04/2010 10:30:04 Do what Vaal says. If there's a gang there it's pretty much the same thing as well, but align to a celestial so you can warp immediately after exiting the bubble.

Thank you for showing us you don't know what you're talking about when it comes to 0.0 and bubbles. You should always (if possible) align to a celestial when burning out of a bubble (if there is a good celestial nearby, turn on Moons as well), it gives you the chance to warp immediately after getting out.
Keep at range and just hit that? That is so foolish it hurts. Learn to pilot your own ship. ____________ Intigo - go visit www.eve-arena.com for the best Battleclinic killboard replacement yet! |

His question is about getting away from a single dictor, which somehow was able to scram him meaning he prolly ran straight into him. If you don't know what you're doing (because otherwise he wouldn't have asked the question) and you're in a faster ship than the tackler (which he is) then burning away in a traight line from that single ship is the BEST way of not getting caught and the easiest way to do that (if you don't know what you're doing) is by using the AP.

Also, you didn't quite read the last paragraph.

Edited by: Smabs on 11/04/2010 10:51:47 Basically what Vaal said.
Best thing is to calm down and check things out once you jump in. You've got 60 seconds so don't get into a panic and do something silly.
If it's a big camp or one full of ceptors and dictors the best thing to do is to wait out the session timer and mwd back to the gate. Usually any tackle will agress so nine times out of ten you'll be able to get away just fine after jumping (especially in a ceptor). Sabres are reasonably fast, can carry a web+scram and are pretty dangerous so if you find yourself appearing close to one then it might be best to jump back out.
If it's all bigger ships or you have some distance from the nearest threat then burn away from them with mwd overloaded and align to a celestial. Remember to make a safespot and warp again immediately after you hit the next grid.
If you want to be a cool guy and there's just a single tackler you can try burning about 100km away from their gang and picking it off. But I don't really advise this til you've gotten very confident at flying your ship.
Kinda one of the reasons I think a damage control is a good idea on a ceptor is because of this. That'll help you avoid getting one-shotted.

If its a big camp you need to get back to the gate, don't try this too soon though or the gate won't let you through... wait 25 seconds in cloak. Use that 25 seconds to set autopilot to previous system, then activate autopilot and MWD back to gate. The autopilot may jump through gate, even if you are experiencing lag!
If it is just a small gang or solo camper, look for something to align to out of the bubble, preferably not near the enemy or back through the middle of the bubble. Once you hit align get the MWD on and as soon as you are clear of bubble and campers warp disruptors... Warp to the aligned object!
Hint: Overloading the MWD may be the difference between success and failure!

Take Vaals advice. It's rather scary the first few times it happens, but after some practice, it can be quite fun.
If this dictor is alone, I like to wait out my timer and just burn back to the gate. rinsing and repeating every time I can. (depends on the gate type too, regional and constellation gates you can just keep jumping back in until you're far enough away from him that you either won't be in his bubble or you'll be close to the edge)
Don't forget to click warp right before you jump out, which will aggro him so he can't follow you.

Adding to what has already been said, I want to clear up a common misconception. As long as your ship is sitting still, you have no alignment. The ships graphical model might be pointing in some direction, but that would only matter if it would have speed. When you are sitting still, warping in any direction will take exactly the same amount of time, which is the time it takes to get from 0 m/s to 75% of your max speed. _____________________________________
