Discounting news items centered around politics and partisanship...how is Fox any different than any other news outlet? I mean...I know that Fox and MSNBC are two sides of the same coin...but on basic news items...how are they different.
Ok...I don't actually need someone to explain it to me...cuz the answer is "none"...I'm just seeing if we have people in the forum capable of painting a picture with a slightly more narrow brush.
Fox News is like The Onion.
Only they really believe it's actual, factually correct news they are broadcasting. ----

Fox News makes its money by making news "entertaining." Headlines are slanted to be as dramatic as possible, generally along the lines of 'how the liberals in government are taking your money/religion/rights/whatever away' in order to invoke Outrage(tm) in the reader. Traditionally, the news is supposed to be neutral in tone in order to present the facts of the story to the reader so the reader can make an informed opinion.
Pretty much everything in the top half of the home page of the site is geared to invoke emotion. The actual news (aggregated from other news sources) starts after the breasts section (aka the Features & Faces section which contains a minimum of at least two sets of cleavage being shown at any one time.)
Without the drama, opinions and commentary, Fox News would just serve up other news organizations' stories (such as the AP, WSJ, and local news stations.) It's not like Fox News does in-depth investigative reporting or has reporters all over the place looking for stories.
However, Fox is making a profit and the other news organizations *cough*CNN*cough* seem to be trying to emulate Fox while still trying to maintain their journalistic integrity.

You do realize that Fox is a news distribution model...right...with a conservative slant. MSNBC is the same..just from the liberal side. My point is, we all villify Fox when other networks essentially do the same thing. They all take news that is sourced from some other outlet (at least in terms of the big US stations).

It is also insainly bias, activly tells lies, and covers very little real news unless it somehow involves Americans. All American news is like that to some degree but Fox is the worst of the lot.

It's all part of a bigger scheme. Remember how Iceland believed they were something special that could operate on such a dimension financially? Superiority complex.
Next thing you know, Hilmar will rename himself Goldfinger and this volcano eruption will look like one of 007's weekend gigs. - I'd tell you why but then I'll have to kill you. And to kill you I'd have to log in. And to log in I'd have to stop browsing these forums. Both you and me knows that'll never happen. |

That's the best you could come up with? I'm pretty sure almost everyone on this forum who isn't a CCP Dev or from either Norway or Denmark can't say that name.
True, but most people on this forum don't work at a company which has its own pronunciation unit.

And if they are failing to get it right, there's obviously something really, really, difficult about the name. _________________________________ ## You got that? Right I'll be back in approximately 300 seconds to retort! ## |

Ye the word is so difficult that mysteriously adds letters to itself. Looks like they don't even know how to copy/paster properly.
"The last volcanic eruption at the Eyjafjallajoekull glacier was on 20 March - the first since 1821 - and it forced about 500 people in the sparsely populated area from their homes."

UK airspace is now entirely shut down until at least 18:00 GMT.
A friend who lives near an airport that does a lot of night flights wants me to say "Thanks Iceland". Last night was the best nights sleep he's had in years
Hope the flooding isn't too bad - sounded pretty nasty.

Hate to tell ya, but MSNBC is just as bad. They're merely more friendly to your political point of view. Which brings me back to my original point. I'm speaking of news items that ARE NOT POLITICAL in nature. In that regards, the news they report is just as valid as any other outlet. I need people to stay on point here. I know there is a strong desire to veer off course in damnation of Fox News. I understand that hyperbole and exaggeration rule the day amongst the huddled masses. How is Fox's coverage of a volcano less valid than CNN's coverage of the same event? Again, I know what the answer is. I'm just challenging folks to be a little honest with themselves.
