I was hoping for somthing a little more epic that dots and lines for the planetery interaction stuff.. and those, small floating 3d models. meh..
I really belived that the dots and lines was just placeholder graphics of some kind..
rant/
Anyone else a little disapointed about this? or have any other views?

I was hoping for some sort of surface view mode (which was done in some games over 10 yrs ago) where you saw your colony in 3d or something, but I guess it's far too simple for that ATM

Just looked at the screenshots, it's better than I expected. I could imagine CCP pulling another corp interface job with PI, but they've done well.
I did not expect pulling rocks out of the ground to be 'epic'. -
Did this sig become irrelevant while I was gone? Let me know! |

Nareg...that's hysterical. I wonder how many non-grognards would even get that reference.

Even simcity 2000 outclasses the PI view we have now..
Just give us a lowres futuristic simcity clone, and change out godzilla, with Dust players :D
Would have been sweet, if we actually could at some extent control our own "cities/drill sites".. to make it a tad more interesting than just "drill this and that.. refine... launch".

Not to mention, you're going to be deploying buildings in what... tens at the most? WTF is the point of putting work into a realistic rendering for a few generic buildings? -

All I want is a nice, clean, functional interface, and interesting game mechanics. Eye candy doesn't rank too high on my list of priorities. ----- 'In Eve, as in real life, if you are bored it's your own fault.' |

Considering I joined the game fairly recently (2+ years now) I guess I still haven't developed the "lolCCPpromises" common sense older players have gained through experience. So I (once again) thought CCP would actually deliver as shown on the Fanfest.
Silly me.
But let's watch it again just for fun.
-Planetary ring mining -Comet mining -EVE OnlineÖ: The Sim City chapter. -Dust interaction that made sense. But doesn't anymore seeing you just place pins on the map.
Etc. Etc.
Good times. __________

That segment of the presentation was "What's on our wish list for the future?" not "This will be in game may 2010".

I was certainly pleasantly surprised. I was expecting for a scanner to open up a spreadsheet through which all planetary interaction is handled.
