Using the excellent WineBottler application, I packaged some OSX binaries of EVEMon and EFT. This is very similar to running them with Darwine or Wine on the Mac, except that I did almost all the work packaging them with all necessary frameworks, runtimes, and tweaks necessary to get them working.
You can check them out here. Please do let me know how they work for you (see the Contact page), and if there is any other software you would like to see made into an OSX binary.

VERY nice job, I have been able to get EFT for some time, but couldn't get over the .net 2.0 problem for EvEMON.
Thank you very much

EVEHQ has proven to be quite a tough nut to crack... don't hold your breath.
I will check out EveMeep tomorrow and post back.

This is something I've been meaning to do for quite some time but never got around to doing it. It looks good, so thanks for the hard work Mir.
Just as a few notes from what I've encountered:
As a general note to everyone, unfortunately it looks like Wine 1.1.42/1.1.43 doesn't get along well with the EVEMon bottles. If you have either of those installed, EVEMon will fail to load a second time. This includes the Complete bottle, as a full Wine installation overrides the bottled Wine installation. So for anyone looking to have a regular Wine installation along with these bottles, you don't have a choice but to use 1.1.35 for the time being. It may be that a fresh bottle made with 1.1.42/1.1.43 will work, but I don't have the time to poke at it. You may want to give it a shot, Mir.
Oh and Mir, for EFT you don't need to have users drag around the data files. If you put them in <app bottle>/Contents/Resource/drive_c/winebottler/, then they will get copied over in to the user's prefix when they first run the bottle. Strangely enough you do this for the Complete version already, but not the Basic version. I would also put a simple config.ini file (EFT's configuration file) in there with Force High Color Icons enabled, so that EFT looks correct on first load, since Wine borks transparency of EFT's default True Color icons. ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Null-Sec Player Influence Map http://dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/Veritefw/FWinf |

It's great to have EFT working, thanks very much. One thing which seems to happen though is every time I close EFT, any saved fittings are lost and my character is not saved. So you have to start from scratch every time you load EFT up.

Edited by: Demetrius DeVolnay on 22/08/2010 11:04:59 Hello there!
I've made 2 new WineBottled versions of EVEMon (1.3.3.2418) and EFT (2.12.4). They work for me, hope they'll work for you too! App-only versions are intended for those of you who already have WineBottler on their Macs, complete ones for those who need Wine libraries included in the app.
Here's the links:
EVEMon 1.3.3.2418: App-only: EVEMon-1.3.3.2418-AppOnly.zip 161.18 MB (md5: 2a674429d87d7c6a6a4cd7b8da1d323d) Complete: EVEMon-1.3.3.2418-Complete.zip 215.04 MB (md5: bac33d3e6664894387c66997e0ab0ab1)
EFT 2.12.4: App-only: EFT-2.12.4-AppOnly.zip 16 MB (md5: 8b94c596b83c48d3846b48b80ca33199) Complete: EFT-2.12.4-Complete.zip 69.7 MB (md5: 665d728f6539ac547f53c9997d331435)
Of course, I can't guarantee proper working for these apps, but here's screenshot of them on my Mac:

You're welcome, Luna Moonraker.
I've also bottled two apps containing EveHQ (1.15.2.1820). Since I'm not a huge user of this app, I can't tell if it's 100% working, but I've tested it a little, and all major functionalities seems to be OK, as well as the updating system.
Hope it'll work for you too! Here's a screenshot:
Of course, if you like that, ISK donations are accepted and very welcome!

I downloaded the bottled EveMon above and it worked fine until it tried to update my character's skill queue and the server status. It was able to use the API key to get the character information, but it could not connect to the server for skill updates or server status. I could also pull down the Mineral prices from other websites.
I ran EveMon under VMWare and it worked flawlessly (as one might expect).
I bottled up EveMon in CodeWeaver's CrossOver and it worked exactly like the bottled EveMon presented here: it could not update the character skill queue or the server status.
It seems that points to a problem in the underlying WINE or X11 stuff.
Any clues?

you need to disable the network status checking in .net find the settings.xml file in your /bottle/drive_c/users/<username>/Application Data/EveMon directory.
Find the line <ignoreNetworkStatus>false</ignoreNetworkStatus> and replace it with <ignoreNetworkStatus>true</ignoreNetworkStatus>

I couldn't quite find that file, but I did something that worked just as well.
I exported the settings directly from EVEMon (File -> Save Settings). Then I edited THIS file. Then I re-imported the settings into EVEMon (File ->Restore Settings). That worked.
Thank you.

Thanks Shin Chogan that solved it for me.
If you are having difficulty locating the required file, its here:-
/Users/<your username>/Library/Application Support/Wine/prefixes/EVEMon-1.3.3.2418/drive_c/users/<your username>/Application Data/EVEMon/settings.xml
Then follow the instructions in Shin Chogan's post.

I'm getting a authentication failure. Every time I try to put in my API key I get this message "if you've just changed your API key the old one may not yet expire from the web server cache. Try again in a few minutes".
I didn't change my API key and it doesn't see to clear the cache?
Also in using the last version I had problems importing the XML fit files from the eve client. EFT would try to import a XML from what seemed like one location, the "XML files folder" but I can't seem to find that folder or change where EFT wants to look for them.

On the EveHQ package, the buttons to manage your skill queues, i.e. Edit Queue, Delete Queue, Set as Primary, were not working. I installed winetrick comctl32 and it fixed it for me.
So happy that EveHQ will run under Wine now, but it will probably be short lived. Once 2.0 comes out, and they make the full switch to SQL for the database, I doubt we will be able to get it to run. Fingers crossed, though. _____________________________ http://twitter.com/krispy_dingo http://krispydingo.com |

@Manssell: thanks for pointing this out, will look into it for the next versions. Were you talking about EveMon? EveMon had problems to connect during summer, should be okay now. @Krispy Dingo: yup, it's very possible that I forgot to include comctl32. It fixed the problem? Nice, will include it in the next update for EveHQ.

There is an easy fix for the EFT fit import problem. I'm on my phone and not staring at my Mac, so I'll throw it up here when I get home. Basically, you need to configure the prefix to go to the right folder for my documents. _____________________________ http://twitter.com/krispy_dingo http://krispydingo.com |

First, remember that Wine Is Not an Emulator!
It is a program that allows you to run certain types of Windows software on Unix based systems, like Linux and Mac OS X with intel chips (OS X is based off FreeBSD)

Hi I've tried to get EVEHQ to down load by clicking on the link but I get the following error: HTTP 500 - Internal Server Error Has something changed so that it will no longer work?
I have downloaded the other two fine and they work great in Wine. Thanks for that I've been wanting to use them for ages
