Let me start with that I'm not a UI builder nor trained for it (to build one), yet I managed in the past to easily recognize a fugally UI feature and suggest a better way to display it which was quickly adopted by CCP. (No I didn't get any cookies)
I like to suggest another change to EVE's UI. It is not about adding new things but to reprogram and streamline current "features".
Go guess, if you can, what I'm doing now: Click-Click, Click-Click, Click-Click, Click-Click, Click-Click, Click-Click, Click-Click, Click-Click, Click-Click, Click-Click, Click-Click, Click-Click, #
I'll stop here to prevent from getting forum banned but the above should be in total 520 clicks. One click to vote to unlock one of my corporation's 260 BPO's, and another click to say 'yes' to that vote.
# Suggestion one: Step 1 and 2, step 3. If all BPO's are stored into one corp hangar one should have the ability to
A: select all and B: make it possible to do a vote on all.
It is pretty simple and straight forward. With the corporation interface being as it is now, either you have access to all BPO's or not, delivery included. So there is no reason not to simplify the select all vote for unlock/ lock BPO's.
We are not there yet, go guess what I'm doing now: Click-Click, Click-Click, Click-Click, Click-Click, Click-Click, Click-Click, Click-Click, Click-Click, Click-Click, Click-Click, Click-Click, Click #
The above should be again 520 clicks. One click to open up the vote to unlock one of my corporation's 260 BPO's, and another click to say 'yes' or 'no' to that vote.
(Small note I already suffer from RSI, so doing 1200 clicks within a short time is, not pleasant at all. And I don't think the clumsy way off UI programming should introduce RSI to those who have not yet accumulated it, because this way they *will* get it.)
And I forgot I once again need to do another 260 clicks to confirm that the BPO's really should be unlocked after some arbitrary time has lapsed. So make that a total of 1460 clicks with an RSI arm to unlock 260 BPO's. Kinda nonsensical isn't it with so much BPO's in the game?
#Suggestion 2: have all votes to be confirmed boxes open by default, or, have a check box to open them/ close them all at once.
#suggestion 3: if suggestion 4 is too much work, move the 'no' and 'yes' boxes away from each other. It is really annoying to have to confirm 260 votes and, your mouse misses a spot and lands on 'no' instead of 'yes'. Clumsy user-unfriendly design shows its face again here.
#Suggestion 4: have the yes/no options being selectable by 1 check box for each, so you can say 'yes' to all or 'no' to all just by clicking 1 checkbox, then have the option to individually check/ uncheck 'yes'/ 'no' per vote. (link).
#suggestion 5: (not visualized) create checkboxes, 'yes/ 'no' to batch process large amounts of votes when they have to be finalized.
On a final note, you, CCP keep telling your player base, that you need to make expansions with more, new content. Completely reinventing, overhauling your current UI, would be worth one expansion on its own. Because it will be new, different and something long, long overdue.
You have an awesome game here, CCP. But it is really time to look back and pick up the slack you left behind. As said, upgrading, modifying, making things better what you have now already in game, *does* warrant for a single new expansion.
