Wouldn't it be cool if we can take a "public transportation" like NY Subway system that you pay a fee that connects all the "main hubs" from north to south, east to west etc etc. It'll be a good alternative for "Pod Express" and Jump cloning if we're just staying in empire or low sec.
what do you guys think? "He who never fell, never climbed"

Major difference between "wouldn't it be cool" and "would it be practical".

Edited by: S1ck0t1c on 24/04/2010 05:32:32 It would be very practical in the sense that often you may need to move your character around quickly but wouldn't be able to take ships with you, this eliminates the problem of having to grind missions for jump clones in every major area. If you need to jump somewhere to handle something you can do so quickly and easily.
The only drawback is from people trying to avoid combat or something by jumping around, but that could be isolated by putting the transportation "lines" at only certain major hubs, but still within every 5-10 systems or so.
It's a good idea and would eliminate a large part of the boringness of traveling through large numbers of systems when you aren't carrying any precious cargo. Would also make moving home systems as easy as setting courier contracts and then jumping to your destination.
You could also impose a decent tax on it, sort of like the choice between driving and spending more time, or flying in a plane and spending more money.
Let's face it, most of the time when I have to travel 30 jumps within empire, I just set my autopilot and go watch television or play another video game. It's pointless to impose long travel times on people if they're only trying to do something as simple as getting from one place to another.
Now when it comes to low/null sec, that's a different story because of the tactical reliance of bottleneck systems for combat, but that's another issue entirely.

WTZ made the cluster feel less big, as did jumpclones. More options to travel faster are bad. Traveling should take time, to be where you are should have an impact on your descisions. Insta/AFK travel without risks = bad and not what Eve is about.
The current system has drawbacks - JCs have a cooldown, blood jumps have a cost and are limited if you have implants. That's how it should be.

Edited by: King Dave on 24/04/2010 08:45:13 Maybe if;
- It cost iskies
- Went like double the speed of autopilot,
- Only stopped in specific systems (Jita, Amarr, Agil etc...)
- Could be suicide ganked.

Sure go ahead and suicide it, but feel the -25 for a few months?
