Edited by: Lifewire on 03/12/2004 02:49:12 I have a solution for ending this macromining $hit:
Make it possible to deŠclare a duell on a single player - similar to a war, but faster. I would say 10 minute timer. The declaring player has to wait 10 minutes and the player duell is declared on gets a big fat message box "duell declared!". The duell stays active for 15 minutes like a criminal flaggin. This should fix macromining very fast and could be a funny option to have duells in empire if 2 players donŠt like each other. I post this in another topic too, because i think its a good idea to fix macromining problem and i want the DEVs to read it. Think about it: no more petitions in qeue - players will fix this macro-problem on their own and very friendly way - kaboom
Before people say it will get used to pirate: 10-minute timer ends when the ship is not visual anymore. AFK-flying in empire isnt touched that way and only stationary AFK-ships can get attacked after 10 minutes.

Edited by: Hanse Davion on 03/12/2004 02:56:09 I agree marco mining is bad thing and if CCP doesn't do anything about it...... Well why the hell should I not give it a try myself? I mean if someone like this guy with 24 accounts is regularly mining out belts and it's ALLOWED after repeated reports. How much damage can me and my 2 little Med Mining Barges do?
Before you flame me this post is just a example of what we are going to start seeing if nothing is done about these blatant macro miners.
An I hope a Dev/Mod/GM is reading this, cause if you allow someone with 24 accounts to macro mine. You best not come talking **** to me if I do it with my 2 accounts.

Fun idea.. but .. could open a new can of worms. Example #1.. just say you go to the loo for a while ( some take longer than others ) you could come back, sit down and " hey.. WTF happened to my BS??" and you have been podded !! Example #2.. As i go to sleep.. sometimes i park my MK3 indi up against a huge veldspar rock.. again i could come back to a pod and this AFK mining has been deemed to be ok!
Don't get me wrong.. i would love to see them "fixed up"

would also make afk traveller vunerable as once they get to their destination they are stationary in space and thus could also be attacked if they come back late.
Hell a cloaked unit could sit in a belt being mined wait for a BS to be sitting in the one spot until they can attack, decloak and boom, when in all probablity the BS miner was simply jet can mining and didnt move his ship
It would be a greifers wet dream and defenitly not worth the small gain of getting the odd afk miner. As somone still ahve to see the afk miner. odds are in a 0.9 system with no station that an afk macroer could happily mine all day without ever being seen.

Then stop carebearing - space is a dangerous space if you donŠt have your eyes on the ship-controls! Do you want these macroba$tard$ to go on only because you are too lazy to warp to a safespot. Do the first step into pvp and learn how to make a safespot.

Sorry sir, but you really seem to search reasons for why not do something against the macrominer plague. AFK-players are AFK...itŠs simply their problem if they do not check their puter all 9,5 minutes and dont see the warning message about a duell comming up. As long as a pilot plays the game active, there is no problem. Anyway, empire is not safe for an AFK-pilot. Suicide-ships can finish any AFK-indy within seconds, so keep your eyes open. AFK is no option for a pilot.

I'd settle for CCP investigating the various complaints made (see Munart thread) and setting them a permanent criminal flag.
There have been arguments that CCP won't cancel the accounts because they'd be losing their income. Well, permanent criminal flag them and let the community have fun blowing their ships to pieces.
Still looking for that special someone.... |

Although I agree with some of what your saying you really have no palce or right telling people how they should play a game that they pay thier hard earned money to play so STFU.
Ideas and fixes are ok, but u cross the line when u say people should change thier playstyle to suit your solution. when in fact its your solution that must change and adapt to all playstyles. If not then your solution is not even worth CCP's time.

P.S I agree macro miners need to be stopped, but not at the expense of other paying players as that will simply drive good customers of CCP away

This has nothing to do with being a "carebare" what you now seen to be suggesting is that any player can declare a "duell" on you if you are AFK or not, if you are in 0.0 or 1.0 space. I would love to be chased away from ore fields by a BS that just opens a duel on me!! if i stay and continue to mine i would get destroyed and there would be no penalty fot the BS. I am up for PVP and know that leaving a ship AFK could mean the end.. I would love to see the "duell" sytem put in, but, both parties would have to agree. That in turn does not fix the problem of macro miners.

that macrominer, u guys know who.
jump in the game, right click on his name and select standing.
put it to -10.
once he has about 500+ of those i think he would get the point, espec. if done on all his accounts. ----------------------------------------------- Linkage |
