Edited by: small chimp on 27/04/2010 15:40:11 Help help. Is this considered as an exploit? I am planning to do this in jita for all minerals in forge for all important components?

Last time I checked, market manipulation was well within the boundaries of acceptable play was it not? Or are you talking about something different?

You missunderstand the OP. He means that the market graph isn't readable anymore. Trit price changes are in the range of 0.5 ISK/unit maximum and if someone buys a unit for a thousand ISK and the graph becomes bigger, it is impossible to see the small differences. It is messed up.
And please, don't do it in Jita. People will hate you.

Sounds like a strategy to manipulate the market to me... Denying other the ability to properly analyze the market seems pretty sound --------------------------------------------

This has been brought up so many times!! People Buying one item at 100x the average prices doesnt screw up the graph!!! The system cuts off the super highs and super lows. You would have to buy millions of trit at a really high price to seriously affect the chart. If your using the Donchian line then you dont need to be trading.
Mag's Math Lesson.
1,000,000 trit sold for 2.5 = average price of????? 2.5
1 trit sold for 10,000
1,000,001 trit sold for an average price of???????? 2.50996454132546

Yes I think you can still see the average price? So this doesn't bother you at all?

At least the dodixie mineral graphs have fixed themselves(have been fixed by someone(?)(a gm(?))).
Maybe its not such a big problem after all?

Tritanium ≠ Alloyed Tritanium Bar.
The table rather than the graph should still show what you're after. |

Usually after a DT, the graph is normalized, the extreme values are removed.

I'm wondering if this is somebody trying to manipulate for the Tyrannis insurance changes. Assuming a bump the donchian channel it will increase insurance payouts and therefore boost the mineral basket price. If that is the case I think they are deluded.

The tabulated data will still show what you are looking for even when the graph scaling is distorted by off normal transactions within the plot time frame.

There are some fishy stuff in Jita, some sort of cartel perhaps... But it dont matter as long as you can read the marked data, and and why change something that add some extra spice into the game. I dont have the time to day trade in jita, but 1.5 days ago when trit was at 2.68 I got into the action with 5Bill, and sold it for 2.80 for like 3h ago...
So, just be the the passive dude that dont have to take a loss when hyping the marked, just skim the cream

This thread is rather silly.
First, there are lots of ways to make market data look a certain way in order to profit. And it works. However in this case fixing the graph is super easy albeit terribly unintuitive.
On the market graph itself, right click and select "Hide min/max" and "Hide Donchian Channel". This will remove the offending high/low peaks while leaving the moving averages and daily averages in place. Slightly less readable but not bad =)

Why are you only relying on the graph?
Look at the table.
Look at the volumes traded.
Export data and make your own graphs.
Get to know the market. So you can ignore such juvenile shenanigans.

right click on the graph and remove filters such as min/max, donchain channel, and some other stuff till it looks normal again!
or use the table
