From: http://stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Hyperdrive, "It is estimated that the Prometheus' Asgard hyperdrive is capable of speeds around 803.52 trillion miles per hour, or about 136 light-years per hour, or about a kilo-parsec per day." The ship would have to align to the point set in the hyperdrive before it could enter hyperspace.
I have two proposals regarding inter-stellar travel: Hyperdrive Cynojamming modules or scripts for a HIC, a pos module not requiring sov, and/or a sov upgrade in the IHUB
A hyperdrive module would be a medium slot module or an astronautical rig that can only be activated after a destination is set (through the in-game map) to any celestial object, outpost, station, or sov structure in any system within its range of 15 AU. Every cycle/5 seconds, the module consumes 100 GJ capacitor or 40 of any available isotope if the capacitor drops below 33%. The rig would consume the entire amount of either cap or isotopes for the entire distance once the ship entered hyperspace, even if the ship dropped out of hyperspace early. Thus the rig limits the distance to the fuel available at the start in either cap or isotopes, which ever fuel is set by right-click. 25 CPU and 1 PG. Travel speed is 2.4 ly/min (25 seconds per light year). Travel in hyperspace would have warp animations similar to an intra-system warp. Insufficient fuel and capacitor, or simply Ctrl-Space drops the ship out of hyperspace between systems. The module would not activate again until after a 2-hour cool-down timer. The hyperdrive would not be affected by any cynojamming.
New interstellar probes can scan down ships stranded between systems to provide a point to which a hyperdrive can lock. Fleetmates can enter hyperspace and travel to each other if the travel takes them out of their current system. |

15 AU is smaller than the majority of solar systems. I'm guessing you mean light years. I dislike this idea tbh; makes it too easy for attackers, almost impossible for defenders. |

As awesome as i think this module would be personally, the mechanics behind it would be a hug job to do..
First of all it'd be hard to make system-to-system travel travel seamless with the current way systems work..
Also from a game perspective, this would ruin the way the universe works, no-one would use gates any more, gate camps would be obsolete, keeping a low/null sec system secure would become impossible, T2 Industrials would be worthless (less cargo space in trade of obsolete defenses) and more.. which i can't think off since i'm tired.. |

So, good by to gates? hello to extremely safe and direct travel?
What I've though of, is allowing one to warp from system to system...
9 AU/sec is significantly faster than the speed of light 1 AU/sec is roughly 500x the speed of light.
Get a ceptor going >10 AU/sec, and you are going roughly 5,000 times the speed of light.
15 light years now takes 0.003 years to traverse, aka 1 day.
For most battleships, that is a 3 day journey. For a titan, a 6 day journey.
The freedom of movement to attack enemy systems if offset by the etremely long travel times. You'd have to commit to an attack several hours or days in advance.
Perhaps systems could have sensors that warn of incoming warp signatures from 1 light year out... aka half a day for capital ships.
People will know you are coming, and be ready to intercept you by travelling through the gate system, which would be much faster |

And you are creating this thread AGAIN because ?
Exactly teh same thread Currently on page two ( was on page one yesterday )
Exact quote from opening post in your previous thread :

You idea hasn't changed it seems so once again - why have you created a duplicate thread while original thread is still alive and well? |

Tut tut. I would've thought there were some rule against this sort of behavior. |
