According to various studies, 5 to 10% of human population are gay, lesbian, or bi. So I'd expect about same percentage to be playing EVE. This means that in your alliance of 100 people there are probably around 5-10 people who are LGBT. If your alliance has 500 people then chances are that there are 25-50 LGBT people in it. I have no idea what difference that makes to anyone really.

What does LGBT stand for? Are LG and BT merging and by the comments in this thread, making or made a game, much like HoN, sto and the others people will leave eve but will be back.
Plus two communication companies dosent really scream out 'competitive gaming', think I will stick with eve :P especially since they are British too, we fail at everything. This is so not my main

In this thread I have learned that Zions Child sees people with opposing opinions as trolls. Also the comment about "5 to 10% of human population are gay, lesbian, or bi" surprised me, I thought it would have been higher, either that or I am just hanging with the wrong crowd .

It stands for women with too much testosterone, men with too much estrogen, people who want think "bi" equates to being fashionable, and people with birth defects (some confuse this as being a third gender).
The others are here, and want attention. Get used to it.

A decent thread idea, but probably the wrong community to start it in.
It would be interesting to see how many other LGBT folk are around EVE though.

Sexuality is % based, like if you put and hot girl and hot guy in front of me, I would probably go shopping with the hot girl ***** about stuff say totally every sentence and max out my credit card then get all tarted up seduce the guy who is most likely straight (straights are soo easy to manipulate it isnt even funny anymore) then have lots of ice cream ;)
Labels, titles, branding should be left for consumer products it doesnt affect people therefore doesnt need to be used, I cant stand it when people announce their sexual orientation (in all forms, straights too)
I also think people abuse the discrimination card alot, which is annoying tbh and the whole pride crap is unfair and imo too pink (which is my worst colour).
I am from UK, EU is pretty chilled compared to US, which makes me wonder why we are acting like we are getting singled out :S
I get criticised alot for this people assume just because I wasnt griefed about my taste in stuff that everyone is fine but I have never actually met a single person gay / lesbian who has actually been mocked for what they like.
As for eve, not that I make it common knowledge about myself but I guess it is pretty obvious since I sound like a ***, no one cares, doesnt make a difference XD
Oh and for the sake of stuff, my ideal world would be where hot skinny strong women ruled over everything and men were slaves, imo this is really how things should be, men might turn me on but man they are useless at everything This is so not my main

It's a shame this thread has attracted such responses tbh. It's more matter of people wanting to know they're not alone. Considering the relationships built within eve over the years it only makes sense for people to seek other like minded or even open minded people to associate themselves with.
If caucasians were a minority and you were caucasian... eventually you'd been seeking out other caucasians to associate with. It's human nature to surround ourselves with familiarity.
I'm gay and I don't "desperately want you to know it". I'm simply stating it due to this thread. If asked, I'm honest about it. I have a handful of gay corpies as well and my alliance... well they love us haha!. We're out there... we even have our own in-game channel called "GLBTA".

Unless I missed some major breakthrough in technology allowing you to have sex over a chat channel, what relevance has gender or sexual orientation in a game like EVE, where most female pilots are played by "straight males" anyway ?
fakedithalfjoke: there's no such thing as gay, lesbian or transgender... there's only "annoyed by females, males or your own gender"... and there's no "bisexual", there's only "too horny for your own good" humans are not just omnivores, they're omnisexual... but some are vegetarian or whatever by choice, and that's pretty much the same with sex

I actually kindda agree with Roto in the sense that well gaypride / gay events kindda single us out and imo this LGBT was a bad idea, times have changed and we are just singling ourselves out, sure we should support each other but not for sexuality but general support and not narrowing it to sexuality only.
This also applies to awareness related stuff too, merge ALL the support groups together and help EVERYONE ignore all the 'special says' too This is so not my main

I can see where this stance comes from, but one must realize that without these minority events, time would not have been changed and if so would progress far slower than they have.
Interracial romance has been a point of contention in America since the first English settlers established colonies in the seventeenth century. In 1664 Maryland banned interracial marriage due to questions over whether the offspring of a black slave and a white person would be considered a free person or property. In following years, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and South Carolina instituted antimiscegenation laws which banned interracial marriage. In 1691 Virginia outlawed interracial couples and labeled their children as ôthat abominable mixture and spurious issue.ö When slavery was abolished by the Thirteenth Amendment in 1865, many southern states instituted what were known as the ôBlack Codes.ö In addition to stripping freed slaves of most of their newly acquired rights, these codes continued the prohibition of marriage between whites and blacks. This was based on the commonly held notion that Africans, and Native Americans as well, were inferior races and interbreeding would pollute the white gene pool. When Congress tried to override the ôBlack Codesö by issuing a series of laws from 1866 to 1875, the Supreme Court declared most of the legislation void and upheld the southern statesÆ right to outlaw interracial marriage.
A couple from virginia were given two options by the court. A) Seperate or B) Each sentenced to a year in prison
I hope people can see the similarities here. People protest and raise awareness for very good reasons.
On a final note, Jade isn't a bad looking guy. Fortunately enough for him he's not my type as I'm not attracted to older men. Lol
I completely agree that everyone should be under the same banner... everyone is a minority in their own ways. It's sad that even within minorities(regardless which) people create segregation in their own communities no matter how small a community they're a part of.

Can't say it does... unless you took Rotopod seriously, that is ? Or if Rotopod's response would be relevant. Care to explain the viewpoint you wished to convey with that ? As for my viewpoint, if it wasn't already clear : to me, talk of sexual orientation has no more relevance than talks about culinary preferences or favourite TV shows... probably even less than that. I won't treat any corpmate differently because he doesn't like the same foods, same TV shows or might have a different sexual orientation, and it will never be a factor whenever deciding if a person should be accepted as corpmate or not. I will find nothing wrong with joking about it either, as long as they understand it's a joke, for the only purpose of time-killing smalltalk, if the subject might get brought up.

Are you trying to say that sexual orientation is genetic as opposed to behavioural/environmental/social/other non-genetic factors ?
Lol don't get me wrong. My earlier post was meant to be in a humorous teasing manner. Seriously though, I had read that you failed to see the relevance in this. I believe my explanations as to why these happen is simple enough to understand really.
We all have our own opinions. If some don't see the relevance of it doesn't mean others won't and that it's not legit.
Everyone jokes around for sure. Though a gay person can only hear "***got", a black person can only hear "******", a jewish person can only hear "Jew" jokes to a certain extent before logging out of vent and seeking other audio venues.

Europe - Doesnt care about what you are, yay lucky me USA - dunno what went wrong, learn from Canada *****es :P Asia - The muslim countries  to the rest, I can work with those 'dont ask, dont tell' rules, dont like them but I can adapt Africa / Australia / South America - dont have enough info on these, I would assume South Africa and Australia are fine but w/e
Some coutries have gay people executed, my issue with these pride things / LGBT ONLY suport thingies are they are really only helping those who imo would get the same help from a friend since well all you need is someone to talk to.
Times imo have changed and I dont think these events (which imo arent that great) or groups are necessary, this isnt stonewall or w/e its called anymore This is so not my main

I probably studied them sufficiently long to conclude that there is no conclusive/decisive link between genetics and sexual orientation. The studies that were made so far in that particular direction (and there weren't many) were marred by experimenter's bias, and even those trying to prove that the main factor is genetic didn't manage to positively prove that link in spite of heavy bias. If a link between genetics and non-heterosexual preference exists, it's most likely not the main factor in deciding the sexual orientation of a person.

Never stop trolling
Oh but on a different note, should have mentioned this before.
The reason I dont obsess over sexuality is well on my long term life goals it isnt even a priority, every now and then someone is born who focuses on ambition / asperations rather than relationships and wanting to reproduce like bacteria.
Sex I can have without all the branding but without all the generic drama.
So I usually lol at people who actually prioritise their life over stuff like this anyway but thats a different story anyway. This is so not my main

I am pretty narcissistic, I for one would like a clone army, for sexual pleasures and to generally do all my work for me while I spend hours spamming forums.
You should check the drama on Yahoo answers, im on my 28th account in 2 years and have gotten 6 IPs blocked, lets just put it this way if CCP moderated like yahoo these forums would barely have 1 topic a day ;) ) saying that, YA has sweet drama

You forget about the excessive quantity in the closet, on the down low, etc. As for why I generally get ****ed off, its because America is not particularly nice to gay people, yeah, San Francisco is nice, Chicago is nice, most major cities are pretty much fine with gay people. Then there's the rest of the country, and people like that **** Palin, and the teabaggers, and the neo-cons, and it just ****es me off. My friend got jumped as he was walking home by fifteen people saying they were going to kill him because he was gay, luckily there was a police car not less than a block away. This was in Chicago, mind you, one of the most gay-friendly cities in America...
And I really don't see what the issue is with letting others know you're gay. A while back there was a post where a South African wanted to know if there were any other South Africans in the game. Suppose he should have been told that it doesn't matter and he's just calling unneeded attention to himself too...
