After playing EVE for a few months now I noticed the lack big explosion, laser and projectile sounds
are really something that should be taken care off. Make BIG weapons and explosions get a BIGGER sound. (add some more sub for instance)
It currently just sounds too much like some small pewpew guns being fired and a cat that steps on a cardbox instead of a 1000m space ship blowing up.
Secondly, add some more orchestral/theme oriented music that helps to get the player feel more connected to the game.
I currently work as a orchestral battle/ epic adventure music composer and I certainly feel that this is something missing in the game.
The cold and dull ambient music is really something anyone would turn off quickly and put on their own music.
Music could really add a feel of epicness during events in EVE.

EVE has SOUND, wait... space has sound!? - Purely because listening to the same sounds over and over and over and over and over and over again and, *sigh* again, annoys the hell out of me, so i made eve 90% realistic and muted the sound :)
The other 10% realistic is the sounds that i should hear when my ship is hit and the humming sound of my ship purring as it tanks and waits to fire, which sound effect i add myself hehe --------------------------------------------

1. sound FX: they used to be better when you could disable the hardware acceleration in the past. nowadays they sound just crap, so i play without sound.
2. music .... eve can play mp3 stuff from your disk now. just fill the juke box with orchestral music.

That's like a hotel manager saying that you have to bring your own shampoo and soap in the hotel's bathroom because people never use the ones he provides anyway.

so you expect CCP to license/create all kinds of music so everyone gets their preferred music style? imho allowing the juke box to access existing music files is the way to go.

Of course not, you're missing the point. Every game has it's own music. Soundtrack if you will with a main theme etc.
Like every film has it's own music. Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Transformers, ... They all have music that people even listen to when not watching the film.
The music emphasizes the feelings and or scenes, actions. As mentioned above, it helps players to immerse themselves more easely in a game.
The juke box is a good idea. But it should not replace the function of what music and sound in a game initially stands for. If you're less sensitive to that than other players, then the juke box is something for you.
