Hi folks, looking for some advice/opinions regarding Marauders.
Currently, Im capable of flying a Kronos and am doing so off Caldari agents. Soon though I'll be able to fly a Paladin. Monkeying around with EFT show's the Paladin having vastly greater DPS but Im wondering if this will actually be the case given the balance of mission damage types given out by agents in this area. Is it worth me switching to a Paladin? Or should I stick to trying to tune up the performance of the Kronos?
Cheers in advance |

Kronos is currently by far the weakest marauder due to hybrids sucking compare to lasers and autocannons. If you manage to sell your Kronos without too much of a loss I'd switch to Paladin for sure. ---
Now running for CSM5. Campaign focus available here |

My mission load seems to be a fairly even split between Guristas, Sanshas and Mercs, with less frequent Bloodraiders. Has anyone else experienced this situation? Does the Paladin's naturally higher DPS overcome the resist issue? I'd prefer to find out this way rather than committing to buying a Paladin so I can find out!

Break out the calculator and do some number crunching:
http://eveinfo.com/npcships/
Find the pirates on this NPC database that you go up against the most and then look at their resistances. Take 100 and subtract the resistance percentages of the damage types you're doing. To make the math a little bit easier and still practical I think, only calculate your primary damage type vs the resistance for that dmg type on the NPC(s) of interest.
I think what you'll find is that the Paladin is a good ship, but only if you're able to get mostly Sansha/Amarr/Blood Radiers and Drone missions. Kronos as other people have said is really a PvP boat - not very well suited to mission running. Golem is almost certainly the best if you care to skill up for missiles. Vargur might be your best bet if you already have good gun skills and want a top-notch marauder that can pick damage type.

I have done much mission running in caldari space and I must say I do love my paladin, lots of blood/sansha/drones/merc/EoM missions, and well can't beat the paladin there.
but the paladin is just no fun when shooting at guristas/serpentis. ... wow really paladin has a ~15% dps advantage. hmm, I'm not 100% sure that that makes up for the mostly em damage, vs mostly kin damage on the kronos. I've been meaning to buy a kronos (hey if it doesn't work out for pve I can always just go pvping in it) but didn't quite have the isk laying around. ah well been meaning to fire up my test server client anyways. I wouldn't completely forget about the kronos.
for angels I'd probably just take the paladin for the higher base dps, or better yet get a macha/varg for that
