Hola camaradas!
i removed scan probes from the overview tool until CCP made it clear whether or not it's considered an exploit.
more info can be found in Germinus' link 2 posts above
personally i still think it offers pretty nifty features

Edited by: Germinus on 08/07/2010 10:19:20 The tool is cool.
The standpoint of CCP "Don't discuss an exploit, or possibility of an exploit which we will not state as an exploit not non-exploit, so forth all you write will be locked" is totally un-cool.
Sorry for derailing your thread. |

in defence of Applebabe i have to say that in the early days of the tool where she commented scanprobes were not yet included.

Nice tool. :)
When I was playing around with it, it didn't append a .xml extension on the created files - is that intentional?

on my pc (both FF/IE) it exports as something.xml. a corpm8 told me that its missing the extension on his system, since he also used win7 and FFox i'm in the dark maybe your windows is set to hide known extensions. beats me

I'm using Chrome and Vista; just tried it again with the same result as before. My systems definitely show extensions by default.

NOOOOO! Hopefully CCP sides on the side of non-exploit. Really I don't see how they couldn't, first of all the entire thing could be created manually in notepad, your program just makes it so much simpler to pick and choose. Second, so many people already have this with the scan probe feature, how could they ever change that?

I think we need a GM or Dev to weigh in on this one definitively before I start using this to add probes to all my overviews.
Can a GM or a Dev step in here and state if this is an ok thing to do. Last thing people need is action taken against their accounts for something they didnt think was an exploit.

Noone said if it is considered an exploit or not. It's just a forum rule she was referring to and enforcing in specific case. If you have any such questions, file a petition and get your answer the right way. -- Thanks CCP for cu |

Did you petition for clarification? Several people claim to have received GM responses saying it's not an exploit.

Funnaeh... My petition went from category "Exploit" to "EULA & Terms of Service"
And answer was "Any modifications of the client to gain an advantage is an exploit." |

How did you find this "Special Preset" for ship info (when mouser over on bracket)? Looks damn cool and useful for neat tight view. Got to try to get this edited into my global settings! :D -- "Entering MH means instant death. It's worse than 0.0. Even the asteroids shoot back." - Alex Harumichi [GRD]

Under "Global Settings" and then on the right under "Ship Labels" select "special preset", then just import that as your global settings.
I have the feeling that as people petition this they will receive different answers from different GM's. I really don't see how this can be classified as an exploit though since CCP cannot detect the change and you can make an overview setting in notepad if you really wanted to. Hopefully Luminality gets an official reply soon.

It's just the code anamysis and some creative thinking iside the [bounding] box. And you can adjust it to your liking, if you're familiar with HTML entity encoding.

Nice work, thumbs up.
What I really enjoy is the potential reorganization of the ship's information, which shows up boxed rather than in a single line, and I'm very interested in having my EVE display the information like this for space-visible objects.
Should i just import the global settings if thats the case or how exactly do I get just that paarticular detail? (I'm not overly familiar with creating overview tabs so creating them from scratch isn't something I'd like to do right now...)
