An alliance/corporation can charge a toll to people using jumpbridges. This toll would be either Liquid ozone or a set cost of isk per ship class or ship mass determined by the alliance/corporation.
You are prompted before jumping through, Which you would like to use - the Liquid Ozone in your ship's cargohold (if you have any) or personal isk from your wallet. You pick your choice and the respective amount of item is transferred from your cargohold or wallet as you jump.
This way an alliance/corporation can adjust the toll to pay for additional liquid ozone and all other costs related getting the fuel to the bridge.
This would also give players who didnt have enough cargohold (or just blatently "forgot" to bring fuel) the ability to use a jumpbridge network

Edited by: Boshell on 07/05/2010 01:45:58 For the option about the player using their own fuel, have it so that if the owner of the jump bridge does not forcefully incur a toll on the player, it can still be optional for the player to use their own fuel.
Example: In a renter alliance the JB toll would not be active, as part of the renting agreement is usually that they JBs will be filled and free to use. HOWEVER, there may be times when the JB owner forgets to fill it up. Completely ignoring that this is a breach of contract etc, you still have the immediate issue of "Boy I'd like to jump and that just isn't happening". So, have an option on the player's end that they can click that says "use my fuel". That way, whenever you make runs (if you are smart) you can keep fuel on you just in case.

The idea of being able to charge other players for the use of a jump bridge is an excellent one. As long as there where enough granularity in controlling it. For example block/allow lists, variable pricing by ship type/mass etc.
The option of bartering fuel for passage is logical but seems a little jarring. As an alternative might having the option of player corp LP or similar that can then be exchanged for goods and services work as well? This would allow players to outright buy pcLP to exchange for jump tolls or be able to earn it via trading with the owning player corp, which could include hauling in liquid ozone?
This would in turn allow for many more goods and services to be run through the same pc LP system, meaning that some of the more mundane tasks could be automatically contracted out to other players.
You could also possibly allow the use of other corporations lp - this might get tricky as if you allow npc corp lp to be trade-able I feel rwt creeping in... possibly only other corps in an alliance or with some form of official (and supported by game mechanics) pact or treaty?
How did you intend to 'advertise' your jump bridge network?

If the corp/alliance doesnt want to charge a fee, they can simply put "0 isk" as their fee. Changing the fee to 0 isk would change the pop-up message before you jump to donation alternatives rather than a manditory toll.

This would be nice. Take it direct out of your cargo bay or pay ISK. Stinks to see your jump bridges running low when you just topped them off recently.
The corp controlling the jump bridge should be able to set prices based on players, corps, alliances, etc. So a particular setup could be:
Your corp: 500 ISK/unit of Liquid Ozone, around cost price. Your alliance: 550 ISK/unit, +10% price. Neutrals: 1000 ISK/unit, +100% price. A guy in corp who ****ed off the CEO: 10000 ISK/unit, +1000% price.
Etc.
Either way the fuel gets provided.

It would be another nice option to be able to dictate the ship classes allowed by the Jump Bridge.
Banning certain ships would be useful in some cases.
Yes, I am looking at you... you, that annoying corp who jumps freighters through all the renter jump bridges the minute we have them filled up. |

Well, this is about jump bridges, we might be able to troll it ourselves?

Very simple solution, especially now that the new standings are coming.
Add a tickbox to the POS interface, when ticked the bridge burns fuel from cargo of ship for everyone not in alliance/dark blue.
Internal logistics capabilities maintained and the visitor bridge leeches pay their toll by having to carry their own fuel.

I think this would be a wonderfull idea.. then you could actually set up a 'JB service' across regions and such, specialising in exactly that, building and maintaining a network of jump bridges for others to use.
( Note: I'm not very knowledgable in how they work, or what is needed for them, but the idea does appeal to me )

Me as well!
I demand a troll under every jump bridge!
If you move too many ships through at once he should come out and eat one of them.

Edited by: David Grogan on 10/05/2010 06:50:49 a possible solution to this would be a jump bridge silo with pw (like a massive secure container (50000m3) specific for holding Liquid Ozone only that renters and alliance members alike can put ozone into.
The silo can be linked to the jump bridge so when the jumpbridge runs out of ozone it draws it from the silo. this way non allaince members (renters/blues) can still dump ozone into the silo. SIG: if my message has spelling errors its cos i fail at typing properly :P |
