SOE investigate the bright star, and SOE somehow design something that sleepers ignore (zephyr). Coincidence?
The Intaki Syndicate, not the SOE, designed and developed the Zephyr.
Been a while since I read ante. just re-read it. oops- got mixed up.

Quote: * sleepers lack shields due to shield vulnerabilities with isogen-5. implies either drone proximity to it (collection?), or enemies that use it. Are the buildings with shields actually sleeper buildings or Talocan? * military/civilian sites are mixed because with WH technology, there are no front lines/safe havens, all systems are equally vulnerable.
Me like both. Also if you are information and so are the weapons you are fighting with having your highly redundant network infrastucture exposed to your adversary is not a big problem. The only method of attack for a system that is as highly connected as the Sleepers is is to find a weakness that can sabotage the system from within.
Has anyone ever taken a good look at the Polaris frigate. When you look at it a little closer the name and the shape suddenly point towards something very old and familiar to us.

Perhaps they're all still around? Or at the very least, The Talocan. Either that, or the Jovians are "the 4 becoming 1." |

Of cause it is a GM ship and its specs are for that specific OOC role. But look at its design. It doesnt fit in with any race as far as I know. A lot of Talocan structures and the ship in Sleeper space have the same elongated shape.
And for storyline purposes it could very easily be reasoned that the Jove found a couple of derelict frigates floating somewhere and not wanting to share their own technology with anyone they fixed up these museum pieces.

OK, caught up now. more thoughts to mull on.
CCP Dropbear said that the sleeper storyline had been planned from when COSMOS was introduced. When did rogue drones first make their appearance?
In some missions, rogue drones are mining for things that are "worthless" (banidine etc). could it be the same people telling us these are worthless as are feeding us the line about "Current scientific opinion broadly agrees that these items [..data libraries etc..] are of little material value." (Anoikis)
obvious (maybe too obvious) link is that drones could be going rogue because of "leaked" signals from either sleepers or (pushing it a bit) sansha slaves?.
Could there be a pattern to the adjective for sleeper ships present at each site?- emergent - AI
- awakened - sleeper with physical body
- sleepless - ? maybe capsuleer/uploaded sleeper
could a pattern give a clue as to the site's purpose?
Did sansha develop the codebreakers to hack the DED (and the gates etc) or to hack the sleeper sites?
2am here, so I'm going to sleep on it for now..

"Clause 1) The four member nations of the treaty have each agreed that the preliminary findings, and any agreements based thereupon, on each of the four units is strictly provisional. Current scientific opinion broadly agrees that these items are of little material value. However, any reassessment undertaken by any of the member nations that is deemed to invalidate this initial finding may be deferred to."

Now, look at these two links. Look at them very carefully. Sleeper Ship Embryo Space Colonization
Hint: "Going a step further, the spacecraft "cargo" could be limited just to the genetic information of humans stored in as computer files. In this case, sperm and egg cells would need to be recreated by a biosequencer at the target planet (this proposal is currently not technologically feasible)."
Does that look familiar?
What would you need to do this?
I think that everything that is necessary is available in The Mirror. Beyond that, the further application of the information in the mirror has impact on a great many other scientific disciplines, and what is available in the Sleeper tags is also fascinating.

I think you are on the right track, but are not going far enough. Instead of sleeper ships consider Von Neuman machines, spreading out and building a vast interseller network of nodes (Mirrors) linked by FTL Communications and inhabited by Informporphs.

ok- people have been commenting here about potentially unlocking areas by doing stuff with sleeper sites.
This may call for some tinfoil, but

Assuming that you think that "solar engineering" is all about harvesting solar energy, then it's a misrepresentation.

Anoikis=Anoikia which is apoptotic cell death.
Apoptotic cell death is prevented in EVE with this rare chemical compound "C3-FTM_Acid" I just thought about it, dont know if it has any meaning, only been in WH space a few times.
Cheers.

Noticed something a while ago. I live in a c2 and some weeks ago we got a magnetometric site (not 100% sure if it was mag). When i warped to that site it contained Talocan Ruins something i never saw before in a c2. I warped back to my POS to get the Zephyr. Back at the site, the Talocan Ruins were gone and only a standard Sleeper site was there.
Maybe the secrets that are hidden are in such a site that only appears by chance? -- please consider to visit our w-space system, cake will be served immediately. |

I've heard of that happening before, to one of my corpmates. Do you remember seeing a Polestar among the artifacts, perchance?

This reminds me of something I read about the Jove in relation to the Eve gate, that they where putting great effort into hiding Terran artifacts there. Perhaps this kind of hiding is what they mean, that they, through some kind of tech, are making one thing look like another, as they made Talocan structures look like Sleeper sites. Or it's a bug, Occam's razor anyone?

In the Empyrean Age novel, the Amarr scientist reports that he's found signatures of a large number of Terran artifacts near the EVE gate that were cloaked by the Jove, that the Jove were deliberately hindering efforts to find them.

Neurodegenerative disorders.
How do you cure them? One theory is the application of top-down, bottom-up research, using nano and pico scale manufacturing.
This type of research and manufacturing has applications outside of neurodegenerative disorders though. For instance, in robotics, telecommunications, material production, energy efficiency...
...in short, everything unique about the Sleepers could have come from the simple search for cures to brain disorders. Kind of interesting, isn't it?

"In the Empyrean Age novel, the Amarr scientist reports that he's found signatures of a large number of Terran artifacts near the EVE gate that were cloaked by the Jove, that the Jove were deliberately hindering efforts to find them." That never made any logical sense to me. If the Jove don't want us to find them why not just move then to their empire where they would be nice and safe and they could cloak them if needed. Surly that would be far safer then leaving them next to the Eve gate.

Well if CCP Dropbear mentioned this it may have some importance, as part of the puzzle ! I have entertained a few Hypothesis on this subject. 1: Maybe the sleepers in short sent machines here to build thier constructs, then they send themselves here as Datastreams. Now they are bidding their time to contruct enough clones to fullfill their objective ?. 2: The Sleepers obtained above mentioned brain/cell disorders in the past, downloaded themselves, and are now awakening since there now is a cure ?
Well it is for certain a adictive mystery :)

The fact that there are archeological Sleeper finds in the Ani constellation in K-space is no evidence for it being their starting point. As a matter of fact I dont think it is. Also I dont see evidence the Sleepers were moving at all.
