Rather than whining about it and saying it's not acceptable when we all know mistakes happen I'd like to suggest that once it's sorted you explain in as much detail as legally possible why the even happened. I dislike being left in the dark most of all. I will grant that mistakes are made and can happen but proof and reasons would be an intelligent step forward.
I assume that during some retinue maintenance someone did something wrong and now you're having to do the good olde Database recovery. Please in future after an event such as this you give us a write up.
Ignore the threats as they're mostly empty, much like the lives of the people making them, but at least let us guys and girls waiting quietly in the background for the error to be corrected the decency of a good explanation.
No threats, no whining.. Just a little knowledge goes a long way.

FUUUUU-
I didn't have time to login this morning to pad my alt's skill queue, "I'll have plenty of time when I get home" I thought.
So now I have to stay up until 4am to set a new skill training? Welcome to 2008?

Why would anyone with this argument actually stop to think how stupid it is?
Are any of the following considered: -Sleep -Vacation -Time you spend at work -Time you're watching tv -Time spent, god forbid, away from their computers?
It's 14.95$USD/30Days
Break that down
0.49$/Day 0.02$/Hour
Abouts...If I did my math wrong, bite me I haven't had my coffee
So this adventure of the servers being down 4 or so hours is what 15 cents at most? booo hooo go clean your couch
Edit: added wrong.....*sips coffee*

Yes you are, when playing. So you pay for play, i think someone goes to a lawyer, can win easily their compensation, own created EULA not equal with law.

Unscheduled downtime happens every now and then so it's not that big a deal. Would be nice to get realistic estimate though. I dislike waiting for the deadline to come and go only to get another one for an hour or so later. I could have done something more productive if I knew it was going down for this length of time 3 hours ago!

I'd been meaning to repair the fence in my yard.. and have had plenty of aggro from the GF about it over the past week.
It's done. New fence measured, cut and installed. Mess cleaned up. Tools returned to their appropriate places in the workshop. Second cup of coffee in play.
Hurry up and fix this thing before she finds something else for me to do!!!

I'm going to assume this is a server side code issue because that's what it sounds like so far. in situations like this you can get an estimate but that's based on if the code your writing to fix doesn't cause a significant error. IF and i say IF that error happens they have no choice but to change the ETA. The fact they wait so long to update is because they're loathe to force extending downtimes if at all possible. I know everyone hates it but sometimes its just how it has to be. Considering their downtimes are supposed to be an hour and tend to be less than that sometimes by 15 minutes or more. Burps like this are unwelcome but survivable if you ask me. Now i'm caught the wrong way along with a bunch of others but the fact is they ARE trying to fix the issue as fast as they can.

That's how it is in the IT world. I laugh at my customers who ask "when will it be back up?" when we may not even know yet the problem, the fix required, testing the fix in non-production, etc, etc...
It just means I have to find another game to play at work today...
