Planetary Interaction Guide V0.1 pdf (436 KiB)
Known issues to the author in v0.1: - format not A4 - picture resolution too low - some sections aren't ready yet - abstract missing - several values for planet numbers or prices are not final - pictures missing - page breaks wt the wrong places
So, if you got constructive criticism I'm all ears.

Tres,
Outstanding guide for those of us without the time to get on the test server. Thanks very much for sharing the information. I do have a question that you do not address though: what role (if any) do standings have in planetary interaction? Do I need a 7.0 with the Caldari to use one of their planets for example?

A definite no to your second question; ive had no problems colonizing highsec planets with even a modestly negative standing. I presume as long as you're not KOS within their space, you're probably fine to build there. _____________________ Horrors! Demons in the deep! |

Nice work!
Explanation on the heat map is adequate, although it could use a little more clarity to explain situations where the slider is applied. I bet most newbies will not have a clue what's it for. Having examples are best.
Would be good to have a mechanics section that talks about mouse double-click shortcuts and best practises for routing. You also probably want to add as addendenum the tools/sites for hunting planets e.g http://evemaps.dotlan.net/

Keep in mind that planets will be reseeded when Tyranis is released. So that nice plasma planet you have located won't be there after the expansion.

Excellent job, even for a Gallente. ().
I really appreciate the time and effort you've put into this. You are a true citizen of Eve.

that and so far they have not indicated that they will be releasing the base scan as part of the new datadump

they changed some things on Sisi again(nothing you mentioned), and to be honest you probably should drop the changelong for now since they obviously plan to tweek things up untill the last posible moment on test.

Yeah.. I don't think I'll put Sisi changes in there or mention them (have to check for the 'final' changes for PIGv1.0 anyways which should hit when Tyrannis comes out). I just put my screw-up in there for now and later after it hits TQ we'll see how that goes.
More important.. did I miss some major point for now? Anything section-worthy? I already saved your's and Caddes threads to make sure I cover most of it..

Yeah.. will put in more screenshots to go with that section.. just waiting for the finish lane so I don't end up with outdated screens.

As it's pdf I prob should go for google-search-hyperlinks.. And about those practices.. it's got HowTo's and all the clicking and hammering will be covered.

Well done!
I'm not gonna spend any time on PI, but, if I were to, I'd use this guide.

Nice draft guide so far Tres!
One thing that definately needs to go in is the list of schematics and resources together with the products that comes from them.
I'll be keeping a watch on this.

I wasn't into the whole PI for the longest time, but a few minutes on teh test server yesterday changed my mind, to try it at least.
This looks like a good write-up, and I will study it thoroughly. The pictures look like a ZX81 game, though.

Informative stuff m8 so gj, tho there is something im curius about:
1: empire planets: will it be restricted like present requirements of having standings to faction that holds that space? 2: outlaw space (sanshas/serpentis+++) : will they require a standing to obtain planet acsess? 3: sov space : if a alliance holds space and develops planets can a foe sneak in a comand structure and stuff to lower the home teams resorces?
Btw regarding Dust 514 and thats its the only means to destroy/capture opponents planet is a major flaw in CCPs line of thinking, we allready have the means imo and useing those ships will be more beneficial to the eve economy that Dust 514
Dreads: fires ammo and torps of the size of wolksvagons Carriers: lauches fighters that strafe the surface Motherships: lauches bombers that can bomb the planets Titans: makes planets crispy on one side
just had to get that off my chest

I'll add my thanks for this guide! Maybe expand a bit more on routes and where they can and can't be used, and maybe some example installation configurations, too. I'm still uncertain about routing (I use that term loosely) between extractor, storage, refinery, CC, and pad. Tinkered in Sisi a bit but still don't have enough info to know the workflow of extracted "stuff" to processing to CC...

Great guide, I will be using it in the future. I'm not sure if this is a misspell or not but on page 8 you it says "Shematics" right above "Links, Routes and Transfers"

The (at the moment labeled) production section will cover example colonies..

Your wish is my command.. check it out. Some minor tweaks are already needed, but I think it looks quite nice.
And Nyko - thanks for pointing the typo out.
@all Didn't had much time, but as the patch is pushed back a bit it should be alright. Making the flowcharts also wasn't that easy, though I got much help as I could reuse the data from Chromwells google-spreadsheet here: EvE Tyrannis - Planetary Interaction (Spreadsheet revised by 4WARD Inc.)

Edited by: Drahreg on 27/05/2010 09:44:38 Thank God !! I was already getting frustrated. Somehow I fail to understand the meaning of the colored bar. "Set the maximum visible resource limit". This bar will react to nothing. How can I set anything. I have skilled remote sensing to level 3 so far. I understand that the color-code shows the abundance of the materials but I scanned a great number of planets and never got a result higher then green. Could it be that on planets in high-sec those materials are scarce.
PS: Sorry forget about this posting. Thanks to the tutorial I found out how it works ---> splendid job
