Personally, I bought it long ago. But for those of you living under a rock, you no longer have an excuse to not play this game. Even all you trendy MAC users can get a piece of the action.

<3 steam. I never bought it because it simply didn't look involving enought to actually pay money for. But free is always a rather effective means of getting me to try something new.

Odd, I don't see the word 'address' anywhere in the OP. It is the difference between IP (Intellectual Property), and an IP address. It's amazing what context can do, isn't it?
Go be pedantic elsewhere.

I played the Portal demo recently and wasn't all that impressed, was a nice game but it didn't grab me as I expected, maybe it was because of all the hype that left me disappointed.
As it is free though (until May 24th) I am downloading it and sure it will fill in times when I want something different to do.

Awesomely good. I'm a big fan of the pretty amazing plot twist when/if you figure out the surprise side quest to get your Weighted Companion Cube to talk to you.

The demo really doesn't show what this game is about, at all...

The game only works free until the 24th.
After that they either expect you to buy the game or the downloaded content will stay on your system as "preloaded" but steam will not let you play it.
Steam has "free game weekends" where they let you download and play their games free for a weekend. this is the first time they are doing this for 2 weeks though.

The strings are purely decorative.
I believe this is different from the multiplayer game free weekends in that as long as you accept the free offer by the time it ends on the 24th you can continue playing it without paying.

Sounds like a torrent of an offer.
