As I was writing this up, i realize that its not just an Amarr ship rant, its deeper than that.
Its more of a rant of Armor vs Shield based ships. Armor based ships dedicate their low slots to Defensive roles, but thats the only slot to use for speed mods. Many Amarr ships are Mid-slot poor.
However I feel I make very good points throughout the writeup, so please read on :)

I started ranting about Amarr ship (Lackof) Capablities... But its turned into a small gang ***** :)
Something for the next CSM to address, as I've never seen much discussion about this lately. Maybe people just gave up.
In fleet warfare I think you will find a hard time comparing Amarr to other ships.
Lasers have incredible tracking, instant DPS, Low ammo space needs, ships have awesome tanks... They really stand out in fleet work.
However, in small gang PVP ( which I would assume is much more popular than 500 ship battles ) Amarr ships as a whole are just lacking vs other races. I think the biggest reason might be the issue with slots for middle and low's, but there are plenty others.
Some examples
* Speed - A major issue with all races, speed is just out of balance. If you dont believe me, then is there a huge number of Dramiel's / Cynabals / Vagabonds flying around 0.0? Its not because they can tank the best, its because when things get ugly they can get away. Speed = Life, Amarr doesnt have it. Or should I say that Minmatar has too much of it?
* Mid Slots - Less mid slots then all other races. To the point where the Retribution can either tackle or using a AF / MWD.
* Rockets - I dont need to say more than that, other than to point out that 3 ships use them ( Heretic, Malediction, Vengence ). They are complete garbage, and any rocket based ship cannot have a snowballs chance in hell of surviving toe to toe with another race. The vengence can out tank any other AF, but only long enough for someone else to jump down your neck.
* Zealot - I love this ship, but it has almost no place in small gang or solo roles. In HAC gangs ( almost a thing of the past now ) it was useful. Longer ranges its awesome, in short range its a DPS god. Great tank. It will die though, because it cannot get away fast enough.
I could go on and on, but i dont want to write a wall of text.

Yeah! lol, that's caldari... let's get a caldari module, stick it in our spare amarr midslots on our gallente ship and then those minmatar speed freaks can't touch us.... send out the Warriors!

Yes I know I'm feeding the troll, but...
Have you never heard of playing towards your strengths instead of your weaknesses? I mean, you point out that the Vengeance has an ungodly tank for a frigate sized ship then you say it's useless. You use the Zealot as an example of a ship that has an extremely specialized role then say it sucks in a different one.
Likewise, if you put the Dramiel/Cynabal/Vagabond in an up close and personal brawl they will die in a fire. I might as well say the Falcon sucks because it can't do anything besides ECM, or that a battleship is useless since it doesn't have the tackling ability of an interceptor! |

Amarr ships don't have those benefits because they're not made for them, perhaps? You say the Falcon isn't a solo ship, I say the Zealot isn't a solo ship, and neither is the Vengeance.
The Vagabond has a very specialized hit-and-run role, the Vengeance is meant to sit there and take it, the Falcon is meant for ECM, and the titans are hugely compensating for something.

Amarr ships are practically made for fleets, there's nothing wrong with them. A retribution is made for DPS, not tackling. And also as stated above, a vengeance is made to take damage. Interceptors are made for tackling and interdictors are made for interdiction, neither are designed for duking it out with other ships, they provide tactical support - which is why people use them.
Learn how to fly ships before posting next time.
