PI has been available for folks to get the hang of on Singularity for a while and it is real easy once you get your head round it :)

Reason I'm asking is I am in lovely Iraq and the internet connection is quite slow. (Fast enough to play, but any large files take forever to download.) Since I'm the most computer savvy soldier here, I have been elected by the other Eve players here to "figure it out". I'd prefer to download the update content once, to save time and bandwidth and get the guys here playing sooner.
Should I just monitor this link and wait for it to go live?
http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/EVE_Premium_Setup_154366_m.exe
it shoul just be automatic
ppl love to ignore the problem, the automatic thing will work for each person fine, though the originator didnt mention how many clients (his buddies) he needs to upgrade, can you imagine, lets say 100 clients downloading the same update at same time on a low bandwidth line?! yeah it will take them (depending of the size of the patch) FOREVER...
Yet if 1 man uses the bandwidth to get the patch on a flash drive or share it on local WiFi network that will save alot of waiting time to all and be in the spanking new Tyrannis, without hogging the line.
So yes, keep on monitoring for that link go live. I hope that CCP dev's will announce it once its up. |

Now I know about 50 ppl have qouted this already but I think it adds weight to our concerns if we all raise this even if the thread is a little overwhelmed. Tough, this is just plain common sense in a game like EvE, CCP should not be holding us to ransom like this, if they are so worried we won't use SpaceBook, why waste time and money implementing it? That's all.

Dude, everyone liking Dell needs to stop, as a computer tech so far Dell has been my very least fav to fix. You can't go find all the problem with Dell computer. You have to fix them one at a time. Which can cause a very big delay in repairing them.
Quick example for the people that need one. Lets say the BIOS battery is just about dead or is dead. You have to replace it before you can do anything else. You can't skip it and you can't get to the BIOS either.
I haven't worked on any of the newer models. I just took Dell of my list of computer that I repair.
If you want to PC that will last it simple get an HP with an Intel CPU. Or you can get an Asus PC, either are perfectly fine and last far longer than any I've seen Dells last.

Last time someone posted a link to a patch before the official word from CCP it wrecked their computer / eve install IIRC...
I'd wait until the official word that the patch is available, and not guess the url for the patch

hmmm... nothing special appear. Few small changes - few bugs which were corrected now but should be repaired years ago. It's nice to have new tools - but what with bugs which are "active" since 2005? POS issues for instances? What with last expansion which caused that near nobody use gallente to pvp?

I used to work for HP on their Tech Support desk, I like their kit, but the charges I had to tell customers in the UK was just astronomical for the simplest of things...

I know there has been plenty of complaint about this expansion already, and most of it with good reason, since I also see very little to get excited about. However, I guess PI will be a big deal for some people, and it's necessary for dust to meet its potental, so fair enough.
One thing I haven't seen anyone pick up on yet is the special new alliance tournament winner's ships. Ok, cool, the winners should be rewarded, but it's always seems a little unfair that they get totally unique ships that nobody else ever gets access to. We're talking about big alliances here. They can already afford whatever they want in the game, and they get given unique collectors items that will be worth billions on the Market. FAir enough, design new ships for it, and fairenough, give them to the tournament winners first, but at least make them available in game 6mths later or something so the developmnt time isn't wasted, and to mitigate the effect of putting yet more isk into the hands of the already rich.

Dear CCP,
While there is a lot of whining going on in this thread, there certainly are also some valid points and concerns from your user base. To re-iterate some of them here:
The concern with the privacy settings in EVE gate and the disclosure of contacts. The reports that in testing on SiSi contacts from the address book disappear due to the new contacts system. The loss of the widescreen feature. The removal of CTRL from the hotkey options.
It would be really nice if CCP would release a statement to shed some light on these points, as understanding the why behind the changes could make the medicine alot easier to swallow.
Regards,
/Argyle Jones
