I'm not much for whining to CCP, but this is really, really ****ing annoying. It was the one way to be able to see everything and still have a little room at the top and bottom of the screen where you could tuck in the one-****ing-million windows you need to use without blocking your vision. With the overview, scanner, bookmarks, chat, central ship UI, cargohold, selected item, and anything else you might use regularly, this was a great feature.
How disappointing that you would actually REDUCE the functionality of the pilot view. Your next fixes should focus on freeing up screen real estate. I can't tell you how ****ed off this makes me. It shouldn't, but it is one of the few things that has truly annoyed the **** out of me since I started playing.

Can someone please describe what this issue covers? I know Chribba is iconic in EVE and he certainly does not seem to be someone who would be concerned over a trivial matter, but what exactly is the objection(s)?
What will the default settings on EVEgate show as of now? Our employment histories? The standings we've set towards others and other entities? Or as one poster suggested, will it show the information normally reserved for those we've given an API to......such as the skills we have trained and what level they are trained to? Our current location in EVE?
Best regards, Windjammer

Its.... Its like you're having an affair and your wife found your mobile full of contacts who have sent you racy messages (Excellent Standing). What you didn't want people to know has now spilt out into the open. You can divulge a lot from someone's standing list especially if there a spy!
Furthermore the issue isn't what it does, its the fact its automatic and the chances of you being able to get on EveGate within minutes of it being launched and changing the default setting to "Opt Out" is low. Therefore your contact list will be exposed.

Now that you mention it I sense a new security measure for recruiters in alliances and corps. But, the defualt should be no shared access to anyone. (+1 to chribba's concern)

From a personal standpoint I have said from the moment they announced Planetary Interaction that I honestly couldn't give 2 ****s. On top of that they put how many man hours into designing ships that only the winning alliance tournament team will ever get, and that they will never likely fly in any type of real game play. I admit the scorpion got some much needed love (and no I can't fly caldari) but to add in ships that a mere handful of the eve population will get to stick in their hangers and that will never likely see the light of day is just a stupid waste of man power. There are so many other things that CCP could have chosen to spend their energy fixing.
What I get from this expansion is a mini-game and web interaction that quite frankly I don't care about. Yes I know it allows people that can't log in because they are at work to manipulate their characters. But quite frankly if you can't log into the game maybe it's because you have more important **** you should be worrying about. I know that when I have time to play the game I play the game and when I don't, I don't. Honestly how much of a strain is this new interaction going to add to the already stretched thin database?
I am usually all for the new expansions but this one seems just as lackluster as dominion, thanks for a bunch of features I will never use CCP, you're the best. Next year maybe just get me a ****ty christmas sweater I only have to pretend to like once a year, it'll be less painful in the long run.

TY, CCP for addressing the long standing issue with the umbilical nature of low sec and high sec to deep null sec. Sov development and evolution was always about how to get back to high sec. To replace a POS, to fuel them. Now that is not the case. While it will at first, I dont expect this addition to become part of the global trade system in EvE long term. It will be a means to establish true Sov of an area. |

As one of the (apparently) few people interested in planetary interaction, I have one big question to ask: What are the restrictions going to be?
Is this going to be limited by system security level? (ie, null-sec only) Is it going to be first-come, only-serve? (kinda like POSes and moons right now, which makes sense considering POSes clearly use Lagrangian Points (aka liberation points) and those are very limited in quantity by the laws of physics)

Patch notes are not clear...
1) Primary change that i was looking towards would be NO INSURANCE PAYMENTS for ships destroyed by Concorde... all i found is that several exploits were eliminated... all the way down at Exploits part, and not a word about what kind of exploits we are talking about.
2) Chribba has a point, i dont have anything to hide, but to allow everybody to see my contacts list...and not being able to change that directly (as good as no chance to get on eve gate right after its release) IT STINKS.
3) Widescreen button gone? Thats have been adressed quite a lot, i dont use that feature much myself, but its also STINKS.
4) Increasing low end minerals in high end space... THIS STINKS A LOT. i might ve missed it, but i havent seen rebalance for mining in patch notes. This basically means high sec mining income will drop even further.
5) Not really urging, but how about QUIT LIEING! PI shifted back 1 week they said... Oh and you are only able to use it after another 2 weeks... we are trying to keep things fair...REALLY? See points 1 and 2 and try it again.

It would be nice if every expansion included what I consider minor extras, if any at all (eve gate is what I consider an example) and more importantly major ship and/or module changes/additions, considering the bulk of the game is ship combat...I know its not all about ship combat, but really--how many people within the majority, are going to be planet mining? After not listening to the wisdom of others regarding regular roid mining, and training up a fairly competent miner only to find it to be an actual waste of time in comparison to other activities, can't say I'm interested in sinking a lot more time (both skilling up and learning how-to) in another form of mining...
My subscription runs out on the 1st of June, and it looks like I'm waiting till the next expansion (if ever again ) before I renew ....and no, you can't have my stuff, I'm greedy like that.
P.S. As a widescreen-user, really disappointing regarding widescreen. If I understand this correctly, no more widescreen?

That's to prevent abuse of said exploits in a last-gasp rush to profit from them before the patch actually hits the game. Can't abuse an exploit you don't know about, right?

1: Eliminating insurance payouts for Concord kills was never planned for this expansion. Insurance as a whole has been adjusted to correspond with the cost of the minerals to build the ship. This should impact suicide ganking to a degree, as well as self destructing ships for a profit.
2: Not everyone can see your contact list. Only those people that have +10 standings from you. If they are not +10 in your list, they can not see a thing. If they are +10, all they see is the list of names you have in your contacts list. If you have no one +10, then no one can see your contacts. IE: There is no way I can see who is in your contacts list.
3: I'm sure many will miss the wide screen option, however if it helps cure the camera jump issues it's well worth the sacrifice.
4: You need to read what is happening with low end minerals a bit closer.
5: You will be able to see the resources available and the necessary skills you will need. You will have a while to plan out what you are going to do before the land rush begins. Currently the people who have been playing with it on the test server would have an advantage over you (perhaps justifiably) but for better or worse this levels the playing field.

"The Utu-class were designed both for the line of battle and for independent, long-term survey and picket deployment, with core crews of two hundred and fifty thousand. Intended optimum deployment time is twenty-five Terran years, with provision for a sixty percent increase in personnel during that period. Maximum deployment time is virtually unlimited, assuming crew expansion is contained.
"In addition to small, two-seat fighters that may be employed in either attack or defense, it deploys sublight parasite warships massing up to eighty thousand tons. Shipboard weaponry centers around hyper-capable missile batteries backed up by direct-fire energy weapons. Weapon payloads range from chemical warheads through fusion, anti-matter, and gravitonic warheads. Essentially, this ship could vaporize a planet."
"Sublight propulsion, relies upon phased gravitonic progression. Your present terminology lacks the referents for an accurate description, but for purposes of visualization, you may consider it a reactionless drive with a maximum attainable velocity of fifty-two-point-four percent that of light. Above that velocity, a vessel of this size would lose phase lock, and be destroyed.
"Unlike previous designs, the Utu-class do not rely upon multi-dimensional drives-what science fiction writers have dubbed 'hyper drives,' for faster-than-light travel. Instead, this ship employs the Enchanach Drive. It may be envisioned it as the creation of converging artificially-generated 'black holes,' which force the vessel out of phase with normal space in a series of instantaneous transpositions between coordinates in normal space. Under Enchanach Drive, dwell time in normal space between transpositions is approximately point-seven-five Terran femtoseconds.
"The Enchanach Drive's maximum effective velocity is approximately Cee-six factorial. While this is lower than that of the latest hyper drives, Enchanach Drive vessels have several tactical advantages. Most importantly, they may enter, maneuver in, and leave a supralight state at will, whereas hyper drive vessels may enter and leave supralight only at pre-selected coordinates.
Read David Weber's 'Dahak' series if this sounds like something for you... They're worth reading Baen has released the first book in the series for free. It can be downloaded here.

BAEN has actually released the entire book for free (can be read on kindle also). Just look for their BAEN Cd releases, # 17 Storm from the Shadows (google is your friend). You can get the entire free (released by publisher, not pirated) copy there.

Hi Gangleri, cheers for responding.
I've only gone as far as a few petitions and the response i got was "We are aware of this issue and it will be dealt with". - Some automated messages and some not.
What the issue is with (and only) the SemiCharmed account, no matter what pc, fresh client install, OS, PC Build, country (which can only mean its server based issue not client) almost every time i log in all my chat windows de-group and scatter across the screen (most of the time they are all in the top left corner of the screen). So i have to put them all back knowing when i log off and back on i will have to do it again. - i found out that i am not the only one having the issue and i was assured that the issue would be dealt with. This has been going on for about 6 month.
Now knowing what i quoted specifically means, I will plan for the worst and hope for the best on patch day with a bug report in my back pocket i guess.
Cheers again, Semi
I have absolutely the same issue! Sick of this crap! |
