Did he just say ALL NPC orders will be removed?
EDIT: 'take that old NPC commodity system and give it total new revamp and but the manufacturing power in to the hands of players'

I don't count those under 'NPC commodities'. I mean the worthless crap like carbon and so on

Are POS being built by players yet? That's the big one.

Yes, AFAIK (from SiSi new blueprints and PI schematics). All types of POS structures (including the towers), all NPC POS fuel, all station-egg-consumables, all "extra" T2 materials (not the T2 components, they're not mixing it with moon mining directly), even iHubs, TCUs and the third thingy. Some day in the future it might be more, but for now, that's about it.

That would be hilarious, wouldn't it ? Added an "almost" to the above post for corrective purposes (and some other observations)

Would I be right in assuming that huge mounds of low-end minerals are needed for those POS?

It's been a couple weeks since I was on sisi, but at that time POS structures used items that were built with PI produced items. No minerals were needed at all.

They added a few bits and pieces of minerals directly or indirectly, so some are easy to miss.
For instance (all following numbers are ME:0 numbers): * a silo or a simple reactor array uses 50k trit, 200 nocx and 50 mega * 50k trit, 100 nocx and 100 mega for a complex reactor array * most POS structures need capital construction parts : 8 for large tower, 4 med, 2 small, 10 ihub, 5 SBU, 2 TCU, 2 for labs, 3 for advanced labs, 1 for harvesters, etc Turrets don't need any minerals though.
Capital construction parts = ~384k trit, ~93k pye, ~37k mex, ~5k iso, 1515 nocx, 266 zyd, 105 mega) = noticeably above 3 mil per unit at today's mineral prices (will probably be noticeably lower than 3 mil in Tyrannis, but still, it's _something_)

They added a few bits and pieces of minerals either directly, but mostly indirectly, so some are easy to miss by the untrained eye.
For instance (all following numbers are ME:0 numbers): * a silo or a simple reactor array uses 50k trit, 200 nocx and 50 mega * 50k trit, 100 nocx and 100 mega for a complex reactor array * most POS structures need CCPs (Capital Construction Parts) : 8 for large tower, 4 med, 2 small, 10 ihub, 5 SBU, 2 TCU, 2 for labs, 3 for advanced labs, 1 for harvesters, etc Turrets don't need any minerals though.
Capital construction parts = ~384k trit, ~93k pye, ~37k mex, ~5k iso, 1515 nocx, 266 zyd, 105 mega) = (after /1.1 from waste) around 3 mil per unit at today's mineral prices. They only sell for around 4 mil now because the build time is relatively long (barely 11% shorter than the time needed to build a battleship) and the BPO is also quite expensive (0.9 bil ftw). That mineral cost will probably be noticeably lower in Tyrannis, but the ~1 mil markup will most likely be there to stay (if not get higher due to short-term shortages)... still, it's _something_ that eats up some minerals, and they sure do need something to consume them.
P.S. Hmm... wonder if I can find cheap researched CCP BPOs
P.P.S. A BC's worth of minerals in a large tower (~24 mil plus 8 mil manufacture addition vs ~360 total), that's not such a big deal though. They could have seriously ramped that up.
Yeah mineral consumption should have been something like:
Small = tier2 BC Medium = tier 1 BS Large = tier 3 BS
I mean jeez CCP, throw the miners a bone.

well lets see, new player made producuts that use some minerals but use mostly new expansion materials
I think they more or less did what you wanted.
and if they add in things like cans and storage containers they may add in more.

No I wanted them to use a lot more minerals because we dont have nearly enough mineral sinks for the "legit" mineral producers (never mind the bots)

Strickly speaking, miners don't produce anything. Alas, I would have thought that the fact that everyone and their mother wants their own supercapital atm should have been a mineral sink and a half.

Beyond the sharp increase in WTB [Supercap] Threads and the fact the most supercap lotteries quickly sell out and most supercap auctions have a good 10-15 distinct bidders compared with like 2-3 bidders pre-dominion-- call it a hunch.
@malc: I would, but i'm using it to buy a supercap

A little late to the party: They've seeded all races' tower BPOs at Jita. Odd that they aren't race-limited like the towers and, say, doomsday BPO seeds.
I've been mostly absent lately. These tower BPOs are new, right?
Towers themselves are still seeded too, despite the presence of the prints.

You can't use the prints to manufacture because you can't get the needed materials. There are no materials because there is no PI production. There is no PI production because the command centers aren't seeded. The command centers will be seeded June 8th 2010 (unless delayed again).
