I actually fly Cormorants for PVP; I think that may qualify as unorthodox, especially since I don't SNIPE with them.

I have cleared out whole regions roaming lowsec in my PVP-fit Augoror. I could never get a fight. For some reason, people think that I'm going to click a high-slot module and the wrath of empires is going to crash down upon them.

I put a heavy neut on a curse for 65-75km insta-cap erasure to deal with nano ships.
Check battleclinic, that fit has my name on it.
This was long ago, before the nano nerf, and it's really not that useful anymore.

Had a war target playing station games, we couldn't kill him before he redocked (wouldn't engage) so we invited him to fleet to "talk"
He comes out to 'Test his tank again' and right before redocking we kick him from fleet.
He never made it back in.

Once upon a wardec, I was chasing a WT stabber in my AB/disruptor ishkur. I chased him through a gate, only to find him burning away full speed, and already well out of range. I hit approach on him, and started moving as fast as I could in his direction without overheating (he was nano fit- so he was a hell of a lot faster than my AB ishkur)...
After he was about 200km off me, he logged off in space. I had been approaching him, so when he e-warped, my ship stopped and I lost my line. I did my best to line back up, and dropped a can to mark where I started (so when I was 200km from the can I would know to stop moving)... I then burnt 200km away from the can and waited.
A couple minutes later, he logged in- about 80km from me. He started burning away again, and this time rather than hit approach, I double clicked so I'd keep moving in a straight line if he logged again. This time he burnt further- about 400km off me. He logged off again, and I abandoned a drone as a marker- since I couldn't yet launch another can.
Kept burning all 400km, and sat there waiting for a good 15 minutes, during which time a few gang members were nice enough to join me. He logs back in 20km from us, and I get a point on him while our ceptor goes in for the scram. The stabber manages to burn out of my tackle range and warps off.
At this point we all get super disappointed- in all the hustle, nobody saw which direction he warped. And then someone points out that he just logged off. Check scan: yep- there's a stabber about 1,000,000 km away.
Our fearless leader of the time, HerrFaul had just signed on and was trying to pull some carebear s***- but after about 5 minutes of convincing, he was on his way to our system in his trusty Buzzard, "Poddy the podulator" (it has like 7 sensor boosters for catching pods... SEVEN!)...
In any case, Herr gets to the system with about 5 minutes left, and manages to pick up the stabber on scan. We warp out, pop the stabber, scan the pod, and take turns giving it 1-gun to get it to about half structure before Herr finalblows it with a volley of rockets.
Got a mail from the guy later saying he had LG snakes.
Epic story C/D?

Originally by: SFX Bladerunner Edited by: SFX Bladerunner on 23/05/2010 02:19:26 This one time, I was orbitting an NPC station in 0.0 in my combat claw at around 140km, when suddenly a punisher warps from some location towards a safespot approx. 100 - 150km from station, and he was about 100km away from me.
He cloaked immediatelly.
Initially I thought to just let it go, but after a second or so I figured 'what the heck' so I swirled my ship camera around and double clicked in space at (what I believed to be) his location.
After I travel approx 70km I decide 'yeah screw it' so ctrl+space to stop my ship. Within a few seconds I realised there were cloaky hostiles in system so sitting still approx 100km from station isn't the best way to spend my time. I set my speed to full speed as a temporary measure so I can take my time selecting the station and setting an orbit on it. I see something neutral show up on my overview, and for a second I am baffled by disbelief that I just decloaked that punisher. Before I zoom past him out of scram range I set approach, lock and scram him, and he dies like butter to a plasmatorch.
And now for the best part.. This was my first ever decloaking of a hostile, and tbh was just pure luck.
Oh, and also this.
My most difficult, or if we're being honest, luckiest decloak, was of another covops going some 420m/s at a vector I judged to be some 70 degrees off my direct approach vector when he cloaked, i.e. not quite perpendicular but fairly close. I was 45km off at the time, and my cloaked speed was a bit under 600m/s.
I could scarcely believe it when I heard the sweet sweet sound of decloaking a while later. Unfortunately he heard/noticed it too and warped off, already being aligned as he was.
Stationary targets that cloak up aren't *that* hard to decloak, I've done a dozen by now, longest from 70km I believe, so a little less distance then yours. But they're still easier ;p

Edited by: omgfreemoniez on 03/06/2010 11:18:53 I once can flipped this noob Thrasher with my Arbitrator. He went and put guns on it and came back but he didnt shoot me. A friend and corpmate of mine was in the station and I asked him to come and shoot at me a bit. He did so, and the noob, thinking he was getting help to kill me, opened fire. 10 seconds later, dead noob. **** was SO cash.

Mining barges can lock a target as fast as a Rifter, have one mid slot and can carry drones. It's the bare minimum you need for PVP. A named disruptor in the midslot is all that is needed to turn an innocent rock muncher into a ship that can cause unexpected difficulties for the outlaw who thinks it a good idea to fly in a pod through highsec mining systems.

This one time I was being bugged by this "bounty hunter" to duel him so I told him we could duel in the low sec system next door. Thing is, I knew there was a gatecamp on the other side of that gate. When he told me we would jump at the same time I said "OK" and watched as he jumped through the gate in a drake and later came back in a pod.
