If you have Problems patching to Tyrannis, read this:
I still use wine-1.1.37 due to the graphic glitches of wine-1.1.44 and 1.2-rc1.
So i download the complete patchfile which crashes wine upon patching:
http://content.eveonline.com/evepremiumpatch127381-154366_m.exe
However, if you download the individual files and start the patching process, only a short crashing notice will appear, but it will patch nonetheless.
The patch was applied successfully and i am watching the Tyrannis starting window now.
Individual/fallback patch files: http://content.eveonline.com/evepremiumpatch127381-154366.exe http://content.eveonline.com/EVEPREMIUM.6.21.127381-6.30.154366.7z
I have not checked this with the latest wine versions. Could someone report if they also show this behavior? |

The linked files didn't work for me.
I tried the in-game installer, which moved me to the actual "install" program.
The program is now downloading "missing data" of 291.3MB. I will update shortly whether this was successful or not.
Here is system info: uname -a info: Linux xxx-arch 2.6.33-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu May 13 11:32:37 CEST 2010 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6700 @ 2.66GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
Wine version: bin32-wine-suse 1.1.45.1-2 (that is, I am not running a chroot). |

The auto patcher didn't work
The offline patcher screwed up my install beyond repair
brb, downloading the offline installer... 2.6GB on a 1 mbit connection, oh joy

Well you should have backed up the Install first.
Patch works fine on Linux Mint 9 with 1.2-rc1. Same Windowed mode Graphic Glitches and crash with sound, so no change there. However, not whenever I hover over something inn the overview I get a bog ol' White square around my cursor.
Oh well, 1 step forward 2 steps back as usual.

Slackware 13, Wine 1.2-rc1.
The installer claimed there were problems, but fixed them. I'm up and running.

Debian Lenny 2.6.26-2-amd64 ati Catalyst 10.4 wine-1.1.42
Downloaded the patch, didn't use the auto patcher, and it patched fine. There's a few smaller graphical bugs like the arrow pointer lacking alpha channel but except for that everything seems to work fine.
Oh yeah, I get an error when I try to load evegate from the ingame client. But except for that it seems to work fine. Actually feels "snappier" than the last version.

I'm also experiencing this white square around the cursor, when the new arrow is visible that indicates a possible right-click menu.
So far i tried a few settings in eve and wine, but no success. Next i will try graphics driver stuff, but it might be a wine or eve issue that needs to be looked at...

This is really weird. I had a cursor problem PRE-PATCH...now its fixed. My cursor used to get "garbled up" when I moved it offscreen (I use twinview.) What would happen is this: my cursors would sort of "thicken" and take on part of the background....odd....
Really odd.

was just wondering if this

is the explanation for the strange cursor effect that some of us are experiencing post patch:
Originally by: Lothros Andastar ... However, not whenever I hover over something inn the overview I get a bog ol' White square around my cursor. ...
Originally by: Doublewhopper ,,, I'm also experiencing this white square around the cursor, when the new arrow is visible that indicates a possible right-click menu.

some bug with new cursor modes we are all talking about? any non ATI graphics cards are affected by this maybe? please? at least NVIDIA 6xxx or 7xxx?
test with brand new fglrx 10.5 from ATI website made no difference (in fbo mode).
as far as eve-gate is concerned: EVE Online: Tyrannis Issues Thread
site does not work with IGB on wine apparently. in OOG browsers https://evegate.com leads to a warning message, whereas http://evegate.com redirects to https://gate.eveonline.com/. these are all links from the forums, for many it was not clear where the site is located post patch. only https://gate.eveonline.com/ was sort of widely distributed by CCP by means of IGB. forums tell the tale of certificates being fine either way. maybe all right. but l don't want to get into detail concerning the repercussions of this blurry linkage. hope you all get the picture ...
not CCP's finest hour as it seems, shared access in eve-gate is opt-out. the whole revamp also lead to POSes attacking blues. various problems with rights in the corp. standings which should have been transformed got lost. probes cast hindering shadows, no way to get rid of these right now. widescreen enhancement gone, had to read this on the forums before, not a word in patch notes. other gfx stuff like windows and fonts being crappy. some toons in evegate are mixed up. etc ... with all the gate 'n' clone jumping, gfx corruption and stolen faces ... how can one not turn to booster drugs. well, flaming is over. for now
not to be unfair it should be mentioned that the patching goes smoother in any case. upgraded to wine 1.1.44 and started evepremiumpatch127381-154366_m.exe. did the fallback to wine 1.1.37 cause of gfx immediately after patching and one glitchy test run. patch might have even been good by means of wine 1.1.37, but it always gave an error at the start.
for those among you unable to patch: no need praising taskset for the umpteenth time, seems to work without. pointing out the successful use of the repair tool instead. before doing some PI testing on SISI there l had an error using the auto-patcher. it gave the option to do an auto repair as well. of course this patched it to the level of dominion client, but it worked! took only a short while! so maybe it will also work with tyrannis. one way of approach could thus be (try one by one until success is granted):
first backups/images! then
upgrade wine to 1.1.44 or newer > try manual patch file > then auto patch > or repair program > if still not working start from scratch and download the full offline installer.
in any case it should possible to downgrade wine again if necessary. if not restore the drawn backups or images.

Edited by: ISHKUR MASTER on 27/05/2010 14:01:29 ran the full installer, np, installed, copied settings over. np, run eve, start up login screen all ok, mouse cursor on screen, no keyboard input, I can't enter my password. checked whether wine was emulating my keyboard with notepad, no issues there, can type text etc in notepad but switching back to eve, again keyboard inputs ignored??
Any pointers??
edit:
correction, keyboard is working fine, I can type my username in the field as such (it was already there from settings folder copy) so I can input username but in the password field it is not accepting input keystrokes??

Thinks that's an old problem $ winetricks corefonts should fix it.

Bear with me, this is my first revisit to Linux since the Mandrake days, so, I think that it went pretty well for me, sorted within ten minutes of thinking.
No idea for the graphical bug

Using the fallback patch files worked for me. Wine 1.1.27 - Ubuntu 8.10.
