so... I thought the loot that was being taken away from the drops in missions were supposed to get replaced with tags and other market sell crap so that the net value of the mission didn't change.
All I see is a dramatic nerf in L4 income not a "protect miners" nerf

It doesn't protect miners at all, either. Their income will be nerfed (at least mining low-ends) because of the insurance adjustments.
Really what this patch is doing is precipitating deflation of the EVE economy. You make less isk, but will eventually be able to buy more with it, at least as far as T1 components are concerned...

but t1 insurance payouts got nerfed as well as they used to payout above the current cost of the ship due to mineral deflation...
so in reality no you won't be able to buy more with less isk :|

Originally by: Miika Finsa but t1 insurance payouts got nerfed as well as they used to payout above the current cost of the ship due to mineral deflation...
Exactly. They acted as a base floor for the price of minerals, since if it got cheaper to build a ship you could just suicide it for profit.
Low-end mineral prices are going down in the future, and with it the price of everything you make from them. You can bet on it. The only question is how long the process will take...

Edited by: Miika Finsa on 27/05/2010 19:22:36 so again.. the profitability of the mission has been significantly impacted. I had the understanding that this wasn't to be the case. Did CCP forget to add tags to the mission loot table?
I liked to actually like to salvage the missions I run so that I can make rigs, and well a good chunk of the profit came from doing so. That damn near gone now. I also notice that a good portion of the items that do drop are still t1 meta 0 items which I thought wasn't supposed to be the case.

Quite possible.
If so, my guess is that the problem is that everyone was too busy running around with their arms flailing and crying "OMGZ WE'RE GETTING NERFED!!" to bother to log onto sisi and check whether it was true or not. As a result, CCP might not have gotten the amount of feedback they needed to check the distribution of the new loot. So it would be a subverted case of crying wolf: people were screaming their heads of to the point where they didn't notice the that the wolf was actually there until it was too lateŕ
Anywayŕ start collecting statistics on what you find and then we'll where that leads. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

I can confirm loot has become crap. Every level 4 I did the meta 0 battleship modules that yielded .5 to 1 mil were replaced with metal scraps. There were still piece of crap meta 0 medium and small modules though. **** you CCP.

And you've checked that it's the standard salvage-material metal scraps and not some other kind? ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

I can confirm this. Also the metal scraps your get are the standard crappy metal scraps that you get when you salvage something. The Metal scraps that yield a few pieces of trit when you reprocess them.

Yup, metal scraps which refined to 500 trit each. At least I still received cargo scanners along with the scraps from BS wrecks.

I've run a couple of missions and ninja'd about a half dozen now. And I can say loot is crap. Not only are the meta0's nerfed to scraps but I'll be damned if I'm finding any named items of significant value. I did find one Arbalest cruise launcher. Whoopty doo.
As for the tags....where are those supposed to be? I haven't seen one. Maybe they're in the metal scraps I'm leaving behind....idk.
As for mineral prices taking a nose dive, I'm not so sure. I don't know how much insurance affected prices. But I can tell you a lot of people are not going to waste their time looting their own wrecks. And since there's no loot value they're not going to come back in a salvager to salvage the wrecks. The way I see it is mineral prices will increase, salvage prices will increase, rigs will increase. The miners will eventually offset mineral prices and eventually salvage will be pricey enough to make a second trip to the mission site.
As a ninja looter/salvager, at least for the time being the nerf effectively kills my mainline of income. But, I'll do like everyone else I've talked to, blitz l4's. It'll be better income in the long run but it's sure going to be a hell of a lot more boring. Thanks CCP, thank you very much for making your game even more mind numbing.

Okay, so we need
- making some stats about the nerf to see how L4 have been impacted. (then seeing if it's more profitable to sell your marauder =) - asking ccp if the didn't forgot to add 1M tag on BS wrecks instead of scrap metal as they promised...

Ships will get cheaper because of the insurance change and your isks will be worth more. Stop whining, missions still give to much reward for no risk compared to everything else in eve.

Aparently every other ship in space drops an AB/MWD now too, but at least they're size appropriate?
I ran a couple missions(recon 1/3 and 2/3) tonight and ended up with 2 tags which is is more than I'd normally expect, either by coincidence or through change, but a very very long way from income replacement for the 12 modules that came out as scrap instead. Recon 1/3 has substantially increased LP/payment now though, FYI.
I'll probably tear up a bunch of missions tomorrow and see how my loot hangar looks afterwards. Low sec is 3 jumps away, I'm curious to see how often I get sent 1 or more jumps and other adventures. Until now at least 80% or so of missions were in home system.
Looks like I will have to switch out the AFK Domi for a Cruise CNR to blitz or obey the nerf stick and find a piece of 0.0 to milk.

If you're saying rig prices are gonna go up then salvaged material will go up as well until eventually it does become worthwhile again.

Well, I realize now highsec has been nerfed to the point that a highsec alliance will never be able to gain enough profit to compete with nullsec alliances.
It appears to me that CCP doesnt wish for new alliances to ever be able to make the isk that nullsec can. Even the new planetary stuff is better there.
I'm giving up on aspirations of building an alliance to move to null and take territory for its own. My alts and I will be looking for a big nullsec corp to join.

Hmm. Maybe CCP could implement a third security status range...One in which rewards were higher than hisec, but alliances could not claim sovereignty.
Maybe to top it off, they could add some new 0.0 space which is owned by NPC factions.
