Pretty sure that's been all but impossible for quite some time now. My pirate account hasn't turned a profit in eons and i'm fairly good at what I do.

At least now griefers an highsec gankers now pay for their "fun" when they camp todaki in tempests alpha'ing day one players in their rookie ships. I think you will find a lot of the complaints are from griefers, who strongly believe a ganker doesn't deserve any cost to kill in highsec.

Right because the industrial side of the game deserves to be screwed with even more.
its the ****tards self destructing ships and macrominers that killed the cost of ore by 40% since I started playing. The intent of the fix is to bring the price back up. This is clearly a signature. |

I like the new change, if anything I would sign for a petition that wants to change insurance for t2 ships to reflect mean market value.
As it stands, the current insurance system is very dynamic and very accurate.

I think the new insurance is fine, waaaaay better then it was. (I like to fly T2 anyways so the difference for me is rather small).
My point was though, with your insurance idea, that manufactures would be screwed because there would be extremely low movement in hull trading. Which would of course affect everything else. It'd basically be a hull faucet into manufacturing, affecting everything from mining upwards. ISK is definitely the way to go. -Jin Nib Trading on behalf of Opera Noir since: 2009.03.02 03:53:00

Im waiting to see how bc prices are effected by the new changes(There might be a price depresion of bc hulls).
T1 battleships and battlecruisers are heavly affected by these changes. Most other things remain the same (Bar insurance on t2 hulls).
In anycase; Its something ill just have to deal with, but i wont be buying a bc for a month (Which is fine with me).

I don't know whßt's wrong with you people, the last Tempest I bought made about 650-700 million in loot, insurance really kills my profits there, ohnoes.

The new changes are good.
T1 = pay for insuarnce (and i mean you pay for the insurance, because the payment is not recovered in the event of a destroyed ship) when the ship dies you get the ships value back.
t2 = pay for insurance, agian this payment is not recovred however neither is a large portion of the ship, its specalized role bonuses reduce the pilots recovered payout.
T3 = same as t2, slightly less insurance coverage than t2, again payment for the policy is not returned.
Anyone who has been playing longer than a few years will remeber back when insurance payouts did only cover the cost of the ship - and will all agree this was a better time for production, markets and ofc high sec safty

Yes it's possible to turn a profit, at least it was for me prior to the insurance change. Most of it however has been from loot.
I'm not a good pirate, I'm a decent pirate. Unfortunately I notice that most PvPers are far worse than I am and that people like you who supposedly can bring in 600+mil loot in one hull alone are exceedingly rare.
Props for using the Tempest though, it's quite nice really versus non-BS targets.

I agree with the initial post from Mr Jones. Possible fix to your last point would be that the insurance service buy all hulls from the player manufacturers
I agree that the effect to new players is harsh, as OP states, as isk is so tight and the impact of losing your ship that much greater

You realise that the self-destruction fad was a symptom, not a cause, of falling mineral prices, right?
Malcanis' Law: Whenever a mechanics change is proposed on behalf of "new players", that change is always to the overwhelming advantage of richer, older players. |

The reason this game is so good, is due to the loss factor... The 'buzz' when you pvp... the thought that the ship you slaved over to earn and fit, could be wiped out in an instant. The memory of the battle and a lossmail being all that's left...
With that in mind, it's debatable if insurance should have ever been implemented in the first place.. there are valid reasons for and against.. but like it or not, were stuck with insurance now. Removing it from the game would cause an outcry..
The changes are welcomed here. Maybe we'll see some smaller ships fielded, like T1 cruisers... who knows.. but don't forget why you play the game in the first place...
Threat of Loss = fun
