EvE has all of these fancy textures and models but honestly i'm tired of jagginess because EvE doesnt have AA support.I am aware of workarounds such as nHancer and the like but the truth is even though I use them , AA is not perfect. On many occassions I have noticed small details such as markings on the ship's hull and other small objects are not affected by AA correctly and things dont look nice and are annoying. EvE's AA also behaves strangely I find that the color of the system has a great effect on AA quality, systems that are colored with earthern warm colors such as Amarrian ones make anti aliasing awesome while others with dusty black background make it ****.
My pc is up to date and everything works like it should, lets face it it's client side and I hope CCP is working on it because AA is so damn crucial if you want a game to look nice and a large part of eve involves looking at your ship(mining for example).
I have hopes that proper AA support will be added with Incarna because it will be much more noticeable then.Workarounds and 3rd party programs are just cheap tricks to avoid jagginess what is needed is official support by CCP.
Thanks for reading..

I think I fixed that for you. Also, they just added the better shadows back in, why being so greedy?

Alcoholics Anonymous support would surely improve Eve. Give us it CCP!

I have NHancer too on my system... while it is not THE greatest and THE best of graphical pleasures, it does a pretty decent job still, compared to the normal jaggyness that comes with EVE. I understand there are limits to what an external tinker tool for graphics can do, so I'm happy with what it does accomplish for me.

Yeah SSAA works pretty well when compared to the other methods (no white blob/sparkle issues), but unfortunately it's the most intensive method there is, even on the Radeon HD5870 - 4xSSAA at a 1920x1080 resolution makes the fps dip below 60 pretty easily compared to when SSAA is off which gets over 250fps.
Eve needs proper AA support and I'm really getting annoyed at how the devs keep overlooking it and instead focusing on constantly adding complete crap that less than 1% of players use like those AlienFX lights.

Those of us who spend more than ú5 on our systems have more than enough processing power to spare on making the game look even more magnificent. I for one, run at about 240~ FPS without v-sync. That's a daft amount of processing power going to waste that I could spend on AA. ---

Newsflash CCP: Not everyone has crap computers.
Not sure if my machine ever got to a whopping 250 FPS, and not that it would be noticable in any way... I have SSAA set to 4x4 in NHancer, and I run perfectly smooth at 60 FPS.

Even if SSAA works for some people it comes with a big performance cost that is unncessary if an optimal method is used by ccp, just look at their trailers why the same cant be done on the game client?it's not anything irrational it's just AA
and tbh if your card is decent you will have no problem at all running eve with AA enabled

It is not Alcoholics Anonymous you idiot. AA stands for Anti Aircraft and it would be nice to have something to deal with those pesky NPC Frigates, they shouldn't be able to cause the trouble they do to a Faction Battleship in an L4 mission.

ŕfunnily enough, SSAA is exactly what they're using in the trailers. Well, that and some other tricks not in the client. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Edited by: Deganos on 01/06/2010 15:09:55 It will happen when 'EVE online' get's a new DX11 engine. HDR and AA don't work together well on dx9.
This 'no AA with HDR dx9 bull**** age' has lasted to long in the game industry. It's time to throw dx9 off the boat and banish the blurr effect.
For my dear EVE I can wait a little longer tough. Making a new engine again is lots off work. Plus some people still have dx9 cards. (DX11 games can be run on dx10 cards)

How do I set SSAA? I am on a radeon card so have CCC and I see no option for SSAA there. If i force AA through CCC i get white blobs everwhere in eve.

ATI's 'SSAA' is 'Adaptive Anti-Aliasing'. Be sure to use the Box format of AA if you're on an ATI card, as the narrow and wide tent AA algorithms do not work properly with EVE, and will shift the view pane slightly. ---
