No error messages at all, that's what keeps me thinking for issues in my python/gtk/pygtk libs.

Is there an easy way to transfer all of the saved loadouts from one instance of PyFA to another - particularly if I'm going between a Linux to WinXP box?
I know I can export (in text) each loadout individually but I was wondering if there was some kind of "save" file that I could just drop into a new instance of PyFA to get all of my old loadouts.
Thanks!

Copy over the contents of ~/.pyfa/ from one box to the other.

Serious issues with non-ascii path and file names when saving XML-files.
When trying to save the file to an example path of D:\Тестовая папка\Fits the OK button of the XML Save window just doesn't work. Also, when saving the files to a normal ascii path but with non-ascii names, it incorrectly encodes them with symbols like ПровЦркЦ.
Looks like an encoding problem.
Please look into this, this makes the program essentially unusable for those with non-english OS'es as the "My Documents" folder path is non-ascii there.

Edited by: Kadesh Priestess on 24/10/2010 18:26:51 Currently public version is considered as frozen. We'll make sure to include all the codepage checks in new version to make sure files are read/written properly regardless of symbols used in path or current OS locale.

1) Download and install MacPorts from http://www.macports.org/ 2) open Terminal and do the following commands:

Okay, running a Mac - Snow Leopard. I tried the install, but it never finished. It ran for 2 hours and then just stopped. I let it sit overnight, and it didn't progress at all. What should I do now?
Can I try to install over the current partial install? Should I try to uninstall and reinstall?
Just at a loss here.

Not sure what to try now. Can you help? |

Edited by: Aamrr on 06/11/2010 07:04:00 The new pyfa 1.0 is based on wxwidgets and is significantly easier to install on both Mac and Windows platforms. If you're having difficulty with the stable version, give the experimental version a try.
The only remaining features seem to be gang links, DPS graphs, and heat damage calculations.

Hello there,
No, I'm afraid its not. However, if you expand a bit and tell me what you dislike about the wx version, we might be able to improve on it!

I have to say I really like the new version, but I can't figure out how to delete an item I added to a fit. For instance, if I loaded a MWD II, but don't have the skills for it, I can't remove it to put in the MWD I.
Maybe I am missing something and it is there. I just can't figure out how. Delete key doesn't work. Right click doesn't give an option. Can't cut.
Can you let me know how, because my only option right now is to delete the fitting and start over.

Hello there,
just double-click it, additionaly, a new thread was made for the new Pyfa 1.0 (its RC1 now!). It would be nice if discussion could be moved to that thread.

Edited by: Rank Badjin on 02/12/2010 01:28:23 Reposting from pyfa 1.0 thread.
I just installed pyfa on Ubuntu Meerkat. I have an issue that may or may not be pyfa related. The pyfa interface is divided into a multi-paned window which I will call left pane and right pane. The left pane has two tabs, one for Ships and one for Market.
The problem is the display of characters in the Ships tab. It appears to be an extremely light gray on a white backgoround. It is so light it is nearly unreadable. The Market tab display black text on a white background which is fine. The titles of the tabs in both right and left panes are also so light that they are not readable.
I assumed it was an issue with the window theme and promptly flipped though a dozen or so. Although some of the background colors changed, the obscured fonts never became readable. I then tried gtk-config with equally bad results. Nothing seems to change the colors of these items to where they are readable.
Any clues would be really appreciated, because I was thrilled to finally get a Fitting Manager that would run under Ubuntu.

Hello all!
I'm getting the following error trying to install python:
Traceback (most recent call last): File "launch.py", line 20, in <module> File "gui\mainWindow.pyo", line 61, in __init__ File "gui\mainWindow.pyo", line 203, in initGroupBrowser File "model\marketGroup.pyo", line 106, in getMarketGroup sqlite3.DatabaseError: database disk image is malformed
I'm a bit illiterate when it comes to computers and code. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

I was just using pyfa for the first time, and I had some feature requests:
A. An ability to export the stats of a ship as opposed to the fitting of the ship.
B. An ability to open multiple fits at the same time. (Might already be doable?)
C. An ability to add fits to a comparison window where their stats are listed in columns. The UI is already pretty nice, so i'm not sure how much work it would be to be able to add/remove columns and set up a user-selectable sort order system. (Azureus/Vuze always had great column customization.)
D. Give turrets and launchers default ammo so that we don't have to select ammo before we get a DPS readout. There are quite a few submenus for ammo, which I found a little suprising but understandable.

If you get:
DatabaseError: database disk image is malformed then go to your home directory and delete the .pyfa directory. It is hidden so you may have to reveal it. If you are using Ubuntu you can browse in nautilus (the default GUI filesystem browser) to your home folder and use the ctrl-H hotkey to reveal or hide hidden files/folders.
This means the database downloaded when it is first installed got corrupted at some point.

Just one request. Whenever I start the application, it starts out in a medium size in the top left of the screen. I would like it to save the default starting position, as I am tired of dragging it to the center of the screen and making it bigger . Mac OSX 10.6.5, Pyfa 1.0RC1.
Love the application otherwise, has completely replaced EFT for me. Looking forward to the addition of thermodynamics info!
