Im wondering since im workign on supporting my fleets with command ships and gang modules, specialy to run missions or do exploration and more, which one would be the best suited for this?
I have decent drone skills, and gun skills, working on getting info boosts and gang modules, already have warfare ones. Its still a bit of a long way for me but im just curious, in what situations one is better suited for the other? _____________________________ Dark Designs. For all your needs in Web Services |

Edited by: Mendolus on 04/06/2010 14:56:36 yea that's a really easy one... I can name the times on one hand I've heard anyone talk about an Eos for anything yet I hear nothing but OMG DO WE HAVE A DAMNATION PILOT ONLINE anytime a capital fleet is formed, rofl.

I don't even need one hand. Since 2007, I haven't heard of or seen anyone flying them. The other race's command ships are simply superior in every way.

It's surprises me quite how long this vast difference has lasted. I understand that it might have seemed a good idea to carry the brutix repper bonus up to the command but honestly... it wasn't.
It's just one of many Gallente (and other) ships/systems that are long overdue a look.
The only good news is that all (I think) of the 2nd and 3rd skill requirements are the same for the Damnation and Eos.

Edited by: Dusica on 04/06/2010 16:03:48 EOS is great ship for smaller gangs that use tons of ECM ... it is very overpowered actually ... one overloaded eccm to get out of rook/falcon ecm is not enought with eos bonuses.

All this is true but the Damnation has almost twice the buffer tank of the Eos. And the active tank of the Eos is nothing to write home about without spending an awful lot.

I wonder about people who suggest a 270,000 eHP command ship for PvE. --

Damnation is for big blobs.
It gives an insignificant boost to ECM strength, which only really allows ECM ships to drop a signal distortion amplifier or two for some damage mods or something, which then means that as soon as it pops, all of your ECM ships are sub par.
For a small gang there are numerous better ships to bring along, even if you're flying some sort of strange, niche ECM only gang for the lulz, you would be better off bringing another ECM ship.
In addition to having completely useless gang links, it gets bonuses for blasters and an active armour tank, both of which are currently broken.
Oh, and it costs a fortune, and isn't insurable.

Normally I would say, every ship has a use...
But the Eos is just a toy compared with the Damnation.
I'm looking at the EFT screenshots, and I haven't flown either ship, but the Damnation is superior in sig radius, even in minuscule ship speed. Seriously though, what's up with the whining? Haunting the forums since '03 BECAUSE OF FALCONDUST!

From what I understand is it for all e-war including ECM, ECCM, tracking disruptors, target painters and sensor dampeners.
Blasters, drones and active armour tanking is just fine for what the OP wants to use it for (mission & exploration). --

I think all command ships need a look, and a boost. If you compare them to Tier 2 BC's, and take into account the training time required for Field and Fleet command ships, it just doesnt make sense.
Even the Damnation has a very limited role and use, and its one of the "better" ones.
the only CS I use atm is the Sleipnir. The rest, I dont bother with (abso and damnation included).

It's mostly because the information gang links are incredibly Niche. Where as Armor are useful in a large variety of ship setups and gang formats.

It's simply because the EWAR trend is over (tho pll slowly started taking their falcons out of stations once again) that the EOS is underutilized.
For starters, all CSs require a HUGE dedication to very SPECIALIZED skills to be effective. Only old players or spec. alts do it properly and understand the difference, to invest the months of training required.
CSs are primarily PvP machines, and ppl use them in Plexes and stuff because of their massive tank (resist/buffer) wise. Gang links are rarely used, so which CS is better is defined by dmg @ range potential, where Nighthawk wins all others hands down. For pure tank reasons, small sig HACs, HICs, even ASs are used easily, and for decent DPS ontop of that the new kids have T3 flavors.
The Damnation is a tanking booster. Means your fleet is there to receive tons of DPS and is prepared with tons of RR (usually). A strong local or RR is a must before the Damnation kicks in, so in the long run if you want a proper support ship for PvE + PvP, the Logistic comes BEFORE the Damnation. And usually a second logistic with cap transfer is a way better booster for the first one than a Damnation (or a vulture if we are talking shields), but that won't be necessary for most plexes etc if you know what u are doing. Think hard WH classes 4-6 need chain RR but i'm no expert.
The EOS is a pure eWar booster, and NPCs are immune to that type of ewar. OK, Sleepers can be jammed, still I doubt that's a niche for a CS...if ppl were still flying a lot of ewar ships, they would prefer the eos more, but since most large scale fights are now done with armor RR Logi and BSs, the Damnation is a no-brainer choice. But it's still PvP.
So, if PvE is your main goal, go for a Logistic ship - or even two racial ones, to cover both the armor and shield part. If you want to do hard WH anomalies etc, stick with Basilisk (shield) or Guardians (armor) to run in pairs with another altruistic buddy of yours.
