I cant fly one yet. But i intend to train for one as soon as my short term skill plan finishes. I've messed with EFT alot with it but I just cant seem to fit it properly... i.m either short on grid or CPU... or end up fitting ******ly expensive modules.. or not having enough range to stay outa scram range.
I'd prefer to fit pulse lasers and speed, and for solo/small gang pvp.
Best fits..... GO!
FAKE EDIT: Or shud I just bite the bullet and go with a navy slicer? I can seem to fit them fine with pulses, and easily reach 20km+ while being cap stable.... its just a tad slow and abit expensive.

Ok then, if you're looking for a gang tackler then this is for you; pretty much a cookie cutter fit.
[Crusader, Gang Tackler] Overdrive Injector System II Overdrive Injector System II Nanofiber Internal Structure II Capacitor Power Relay II
1MN MicroWarpdrive II Warp Disruptor II
Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Scorch S Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Scorch S Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Scorch S Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Scorch S
Small Auxiliary Thrusters I Small Auxiliary Thrusters I
Of course, if youre going for solo/small gang, then this one works too as long as you already have a tackler:
[Crusader, Solo/Small Gang] Corpii C-Type Adaptive Nano Plating Corpii C-Type Adaptive Nano Plating Corpii C-Type Small Armor Repairer Damage Control II
Coreli C-Type 1MN Afterburner Warp Scrambler II
Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S
Small Auxiliary Nano Pump I Small Auxiliary Nano Pump I

As the OP says, he only wanted solo/small gang crusader setups... he didn't ask for a malediction fit (even though it is the logical choice for tackling)
so if you arent going to post something constructive, don't do it at all.

This is basically what I fly and it's served me pretty well:
Quote: [Crusader, I'm goin in!!] Heat Sink II Pseudoelectron Containment Field I Coreli C-Type Small Armor Repairer Adaptive Nano Plating II
Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I Coreli C-Type 1MN MicroWarpdrive
Gatling Pulse Laser II, Scorch S Gatling Pulse Laser II, Scorch S Gatling Pulse Laser II, Scorch S Gatling Pulse Laser II, Scorch S
Small Energy Burst Aerator I Small Energy Collision Accelerator I
Crusader doesn't make a great tackler (have to drop weapons for nos, only 2 midslots) but it makes an awesome combat interceptor. ________________

Fit teriana posted works well with ab too. I guess with some t2 rigs and frentix you could make sader decent kiter too - 5k/s and 16k optimal - but it needs pro piloting.
Slicer is very good decision for amarr pvp frig, just dont forget it doesnt have mwd sig bonus and it isnt exactly fast.

The Slicer is indeed a very sexy ship. But if you consider it on the expensive side, maybe you want to practice with something else.
Also, it's unclear what you mean by "train for one" (wrt the 'sader). The advantages of the 'sader really don't open up until you get Inty to at least 4 to mitigate the sig bloom from the MWD. The Slicer on the other hand only needs Amarr frig 5 to shine (but god damn that sig gets big quickly).
Overall, the Slicer can do about the same DPS outside of scram range as the 'sader can inside web range, but the signature almost mitigates the whole difference in speed unless the 'sader is scrammed and webbed. And the 'sader is cheaper. But also requires more SP to use properly (and they both require quite a bit of player skill; frigates are prone to that).

I prefer the 'sader to the Slicer. You already know the kind of crazy stuff I do in frigates and when I run out of Dramiels, this is what I fly (upgrade to faction where you want with best choice being the repper, I'm poor so stick to t2/best named unless I get nice loot):
4 x Gat Pulse II (Scorch, Navy MF <-- if you're ****hot at crystal switching)
1 x Cat Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thruster 1 x Faint Epsilon Warp Scram
1 x SAR II 1 x Heat Sink 1 x Pseudoelectron Containment Field 1 x ANP II
1 x Burst Aerator 1 x Collision Accelerator
Overheat the guns and repper pretty much all the time for fights, the mods will almost always outlast the fight and you already know how and when to overheat prop mods :p
The 'Staying Out of Scram Range' fit works less well since they stack-nerfed locus rigs but is as follows:
4 x DLP II (Scorch, always - if you need a short range crystal you have failed and are dead)
1 x MWD II 1 x Warp Disruptor II
2 x Nano II 2 x TE II
2 x Locus rig
Use your speed, agility and a godly amount of manual flying skill to stay at optimal (about 15km). If they land a scram or, even more dangerously, an overheated web on you it's over. If the fight lasts more than a few minutes you'll cap out and it's over. It's faster than the scram fit and WAY more agile but has a LOT less firepower and is MUCH harder to fly.
Pythons are pretty good in frigs though so I'm sure you'll make either fit work :p Putting the 'irate' into 'Pirate' |
