Day #1 down, not a single hickup, excellent picture quality, and some nice camera work all around.

The streaming vids and camera work are awesome.
One suggestion though, would it be possible to get a stream (either live or recorded for posterity) from a static camera placed overlooking the battlefield? The camera following individual ships/drones and jumping around is really good for immersion, but makes it hard to get a sense of the big picture. I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those Thukkers. That way I wouldn't have to have any goddam stupid useless conversations with anybody. |

I watched it last year...
The video was laggy, downright broken at times, and what you did show looked good at the time.
Everything is better this year. Very little or no lag at all, clear video with no drops for me. And the actual quality has gone up dramatically. The background starfield, the 'stationary' camera angles as ships fly by, being able to see the drone brackets, and not to forget the nice pretty planet in the background.
Excellent work.

The streaming was awesome. The commentators made some mistakes, but overall a very solid performance all-round. I watched every single match and had a blast.
There's room for improvement, but this is definitely some of the best games competition casting I've seen (and I've watched a lot). Props to everyone involved - you're doing an amazing job.

I'm really glad you guys are enjoying the show. As one of the camera guys, keeping up with the match while trying to get the money-shot explosions is hard work, but great fun. Everything happens so fast, but when a nice shot comes together (remember this is real-time, with no script) it looks awesome. Mindstar's arena layouts really help show off those epic planets. (I hear he has even better ones planned for the future rounds...)
EVE can be such a beautiful game. |

Props from me for the entire setup, too, I enjoyed watching very much. The camera work was pretty good this time around and became really outstanding during slow paced matches. I enjoyed those cinematic fly-bys or the drone fleet perspective shots, for example, really nicely done.
If possible a better look at the fleet setups at the beginning of each match would be great to see which effects are going between which ships.
Looking forward to the next round already, keep up the good work. Also thanks to all the pilots fighting it out! --

yeah really good job this year.
something that would be awesome is some way to see e-war effects somehow since they matter so much, like show jams/damps/TDs next to participant ship pictures would be great

Every year the tournament comes around and brings people together in a way that makes me fall in love with Eve all over again.
Having all three weeks live streamed is pure sex and it's looking better than ever.
Sincere thanks for this one CCP!

Well done CCP, love the coverage.
I do, however, not like that you made me spend the weekend watching ships go boom instead of doing proper, sensible things, like i was supposed to.
So...shame on you for being awesome, i guess

I gotta toss my two cents in on this thread as well. I started playing Eve Online about two weeks before AT7. Not only was I blown away by the great fights and expertise that was put into the planning and execution of AT7. I was also thankful for the great commentary that was given that helped me understand why fights turned out the way they did, but most importantly learn more about the game, what the ships role were and what was what in the world of Eve Online. Made playing game alot easier with the information I absorbed.
Now with AT8 you guys have topped yourselves 3 fold with stunning visuals, informative sites, flawless HD streaming and once again great commentary.
My hat is off to the wonderful CCP staff and commentators that put their blood sweat and tears into organizing and hosting this tournament. As well to all those Corp pilots who have been giving us some damn great fights to watch.
Now on with the Tournament!

You're saying watching ships go boom isn't a sensible use of time? |

Looking at the camera work dont you just miss the days the camera stays locked on the target when it blows up ?
I might have missed a post about it long time ago why that changed.

One minor nit-pick I noticed during the rounds: there is a background shot of just stars that appear not as (twinkling) little points of light, but as close, yet still distant small balls of light. It gave the subtle appearance these two planets with raging combat in their skies were circling a star that was part of a cluster of stars, instead of the singular star systems we travel with distant stars as but dots.
Unless it was intentional.
Overall - grand stuff!
