first of all, sorry for crappy english skills
so we had a sb roaming around the other day and just couldnt get a lock on him even if he was visible for several seconds very often cos no inty pilot was available
i decided to get a dedicated tackling ship ready to use in case something like this happens again
since i dont really want to crosstrain to anything im limited to the following: t1 caldari frig, destroyer, cruiser, bc, bs
i think a blackbird wouldnt be a bad idea (lots of midslots)
fitting would be the following:
[Blackbird, pewpew] Damage Control II Empty Low Slot, very likely cap power relay or something
Alumel-Wired I Sensor Augmentation, Scan Resolution Alumel-Wired I Sensor Augmentation, Scan Resolution Alumel-Wired I Sensor Augmentation, Scan Resolution 'Langour' Drive Disruptor I J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive
'Malkuth' Assault Missile Launcher I, Sabretooth Light Missile 'Malkuth' Assault Missile Launcher I, Sabretooth Light Missile 'Malkuth' Assault Missile Launcher I, Sabretooth Light Missile [empty high slot]
gives me 721.5mm sensor resolution (2.9s on eft frig)
not sure about rigs and the midslots
3x booster, 1x scram, 1x disruptor, 1x mwd 3x booster, 1x scram, 1x web, 1x mwd 2x booster, 1x scram, 1x web, 1x mwd, 1x disruptor (3.8s on eft frig)
should i go for cap or defence in the rigs ?
i always have some friends with me when on a home defence mission
thanks for your help !

in this situation i would say a decent speed-fit frigate would be better, especially since you will find locking small things in a small ship will be much easier. Once its locked it cant cloak, and with a frigates natural lock time against a frigate you wont need to worry about wasting mids for sensor boosters, (checking eft a condors natural lock time on a frig, granted with my skills tho, is 2.6 secs) tho they can further your fast locking. also this is a lot cheaper, and harder to hit for a stealth bomber, and faster/more manuverable.

My stiletto has 2200 res and a lock time of .8 seconds on a frigate and it still can't lock a ship with a cov ops cloak fast enough. The only way you will catch him is if he lags unexpectantly as he turns on his cloak or is drunk.

The Condor has the highest base sensor resolution of all the Caldari tech 1 frigates, at 635 mm. The Merlin is next at 550 mm. If you don't have an interceptor pilot around, use one of these. Those will give you the best possible chance. If you were willing to crosstrain, I'd say train up Minmatar frigate. Minmatar ships tend to have the highest scan resolution. The Rifter has 660 mm, while the Slasher is even higher at 750 mm base. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

just because you see him for several seconds doesn't mean he was uncloaked for several seconds.
even if you could lock faster you will probably just get a message like "unable to target as ship is no longer there" when your lock cycle completes.
