So -
Aside from all the whining, and those who never undock, cause it ain't worth thier time...
I find PI to be exactly what it should be. Is profit the main goal? Not for me. It is a way for me to fuel my POS with a few hundred clicks per day. Heck, I may even have an overstock in a few days, yes, in Hi-Sec. Are my planets crowded, yes. Is my return diminished, perhaps. Am I going to cry because the market will be affected? No. Am I going to pick up my goodies now and then, maybe sell some? Yes. Will I spend all my time doing PI? No.
Guess what? I never went to Sisi to learn. I did it the old fasioned way. Are my setups perfect? No. Do they work? Yes! Does anyone remember what it is like to be a casual player? Is it ok to not have the best of the best, the most epic of setups? I think so. I think my investments will pay off in less than 3 weeks at the rate I am at, and by no means is it optimal.
There are a few things which annoy me, but for what it is worth, WIN!

I don't know, I enjoy it. Which is kind of the point. If I can make money with a somewhat dangerous run once a day and less then an hour surveying then all the better. -Jin Nib Trading on behalf of Opera Noir since: 2009.03.02 03:53:00

You say you are a casual player, but you don't mind the clickfest to fuel a POS? :) I am sure that you can make better isk doing something else than clicking + buying the necessary fuel from the market... __________ Manufacturing whatever you need... |

To be certain, ISK is made better other places... However, for the casual player, who does not log in every... all the time, this presents another avenue for gameplay. Trust me, once PI is set up it is far from glamerous, but it does provide another stream of... whatever. Something to do, other than PVP. I am not going to flame or carry the banner of my way is best. Thank you for your opinion. I hope to see many more.
I fueled my small POS with Enriched Uranium for one week in a day of PI in Hi Sec. I am happy. Can I do better, for sure. Will I, probably not. Am I the hardcore indy player that will log in to reset my extractors every 5 hours... No! Am I happy with what I get... oh here it comes.. for free? Time is ISK... sure.
I am happy.

I think there something almost zen about it, trying to achieve the perfect balance.
That said the ability to group extractors would could save a lot of clicks by allowing you to survey and route them as a group. I would imagine it's feasable as long as you restricted the groups to extractors of the same time. Perhaps something for the next expansion.
So far though a definate thumbs up from me.

Clickfest?
Yes. Indeed. I will click and click and click for all the Enriched Uranium I can get! Market? Pffftt.
Screw the market. This is my radioactive goo! Maybe when I get ****y, someone will camp the customs office all day! Maybe a wardec! Yet another place to fight!
WIN!

OK -
You read to the end... WIN!
Try double-clicking your extractors... Save you a few clicks.
See!? You spent the time and now you are epic!
OK, another one, hold CTRL, click your deallybob, release CTRL, and hit your next link, bam, saves like 4 clicks!

I love how people try to justify wasting their time with "My investment will pay off in X weeks".
Yes, and after that huge 20 million investment is repaid, you can enjoy the magical 1 million isk/hour.
Oh, and carpel tunnel too.

1 million per hour sounds extremely good for me for the effort it requires. Passive money while I farm Sanctums and Havens is good.
Also, I don't think anybody is sure of the true isk-making potential of well executed Planet Interaction. It'll take months to determine this. In the meantime, it takes very little time to get any good at it, and I find it fun.
It's just ANOTHER thing to do in EvE, which is good.

If I want to make loads of money, I'll grind level 4s until the cows come home. I do PI because I actually quite enjoy it, it's something different to do and it helps my corp out by supplying them with POS fuels. If it ultimately ends up having cost me more money than it makes, then so what? At least I've tried it and I can always recoup my initial investment by doing those level 4s for an hour or two.

Noodled around with it for a while and now am trying to make a structured stab at it. The way I look at it is that it will never represent my main source of income however it is entirely reasonable to set it up on long cycles and go away and forget about it, picking up free "stuff" every week or so. In this way it isn't detracting from any other way I choose to play and it will be ISK I wouldn't otherwise be making. Therefore I class it as WIn. Not quite WIN, but almost. -----

"Datacore" sort of win, without having to raise standings.
With a chance to speculative trading once the hoarded stocks run out (months? years?).
Not too bad in my book.
