Mechael wrote:MeBiatch wrote: i get it you are unhappy with the dev blog but telling someone to kill themselves is beyond reproach even for the goons...
Eh ... it's just death. Everyone does it eventually. EDIT: And it is technically incorrect to say that they are telling anyone to kill themselves. They are merely asking CCP if they have the "guts" (courage) to do it. It's a question, not a command.
I actually saw it as a message that RoyofCa had the guts to stick with -whatever- he was doing with or without any outside support.
Whether that be acting as the solo voice of truth to the people of Rise, or seeking to end his life on his own terms. His determination to accomplish whatever he set out to do is a model CCP developers could learn from...
If the DEV's should be feeling suicidal over accomplishing nothing useful for FiS, I suggest they seek proper mental help -and-/-or- get their heads out of WoD/CQ and actually do something useful...

I'd love to be optimistic about this but it's all a bit silly now. Lag is still a problem, CCP is selling avatar pants for a billion isk, I mean how much can they revitalize the game? One billion isk for a pair of pants and you cant' even get in large fleet fights with out node crashes. They want you to pre-plan fleet fights, and file a flight plan. They are so flushing this game down the toilet. CCP should really just make it Free 2 Play so they can sell you ships already. navy Issue Raven- ten trillion isk please. Clown central. |

CCP clearly stated the value they place on what we say.
I'm happy to give their :words: the same level of respect. |

Yes, they have pretty much screwed the pooch.
They took over two months after the Riots to decide that "Gee, those players are actually doing something. This is costing us real money. We better do something they like.".
Now, a lot of players are looking for the 'Winter Expansion' to show that substantial effort/resources are again being applied to Eve Online (AKA, Flying in Space by some). However, there isn't enough time left to design, develop and deliver much of anything this year.
The best we can realistically hope for is some wide spread bug-stomping and minor feature tweaks.
Quality software development is hard and takes time. It can't just be pulled out of your rear-end when needed. |

At Trebor's urging:
I vote go for fixing up and iterating on existing features, at least initially. Fix a lot of broken systems, work a little bit within the already massively complex universe you already have before trying to add in more content.
Get POS's fixed up, that dead horse thread has been around for a long-ass time and really should probably get checked off at some point soon.
Sov definitely could use a revamp.
FW, WH's, Incursions, capitals, super capitals, T3, art assets, PI, Dust Link, etc. They all have room for iterative improvement, and should at least be gotten to something slightly more useful before trying to jump onto new and shiny FiS features. Though I'd say a balance would be the best approach in the long run.
Initially I would say make a gigantic push to fix the old **** and get it in tip top shape, make this game unilaterally awesome and new instead of having bits from 2003 that are slowing down or inhibiting your 2011 bits. Then keep a team or three tasked with continued iteration and updates on that content while moving the rest of the workforce into new content again.
Additionally, I would say deliver on the development promises you have stated for the short term, get Incarna out from being a useless one person barbie show at least, get the nebulae in, finish upgrading ship textures, etc. |

Dang forums deleated a huge long post.
TLDR EvE is boring Not a lot of worthwhile content in a 2h play period.
PvP takes to long because huge form up then combat is 30 jumps away. PvE is mind numbing and solo.
Incursions and WH are great but take more time due to travel or scanning time required.
Give me something to do that is fun and worth while to do.
Small scale PvP that means something and helps my alliance or hurts the other that does not require me going 30 jumps there and then 30 back. PvE content that takes a group and is always there...close by so in between ops we can have some fun isking up.
Just make it worth logging in if I only have an hour to play.

maybe this year you will fix the issue with r.a.m's its so redicules you guys broke this and have not fixed it yet.
its so annoying you have to have the ammount of r.a.m equal the build amount and not the actual usage amount like in the old days if you need 20 you only had to have 20, now when you need 20 you have to have 2000 cause thats how many you are building.

Thanks for this CCP Zulu, for confirming CCP still has nothing but contempt for its playerbase and still believes contentless picoblogs are actual communication.
The only thing of any substance in your 'blog' was a reference to the Torfi blog which did have some real content. It was about making Space Barbies prettier and rolling back some of the dumber changes made to that minor feature, EVE Online.
With the additional announcement of rolling back to a pre-Cold War text font I would predict the next years will be spent slowly rolling back EVE to 2003. First supercaps are removed, then the wormholes, the Drone Regions, normal caps, POSes, constructed outposts and T2 ships. It will be bold, Fearless and hilarious to watch. |

^^ Definitely not this, people won't buy any new awesomeness if the base game is broken and its been that way for years.
Trebor Daehdoow wrote: Meanwhile, a plucky band of rebel developers champions a radical proposition -- that development should be refocused on fixing existing problems in the game. Stuff like POS's, the user interface, mining and manufacturing, Sov, and a host of other annoyances that plague the current community.
^^ This and only this. Fix your foundations before building on top of it.
and again, watch what they do, not what they say.

How can I comment on a blog with no content?
OK...well it does say CCP are worried (maybe even a little panic is rolling around the corridors of their offices)...they may even be shitting themselves when they look at subscription numbers and the recent press. This blog speaks volumes about what is happening inside CCP at this present time...unfortunately, it says very little about saving/bringing back the game we love.
Patience is wearing thin.

Vergy good, love it.
Now, there doesn't have to be a war between "flashy features" and "redoing 0.0/sov/ect".
Combine the two. Implement 1 flashy thingy for your marketing departement, and the rest is reworking the mechanics so that the gameplay gets better in general.
But, we watch what you do, not what you say, right? |

Interesting (sarcasm).
So either:
A) The expansion due out in 2 months will not contain further itertations World of Eveness and Macrotransactions, and you are lying that direction has just now been refocussed.
OR
B) The expansion due out in 2 months contain very little as you have just thrown away all the work put in so far to refocus on what the player base told you to refocus on 2 years ago.
OR
C) There is no refocus, the expansion due out in 2 months is further iterations to World of Eveness and Macrotransactions, other cosmetic changes that should have been done half a decade ago, and what is really happening is the end of the '18 months of no Eve Dev' we were told about 16 months ago.
Either way, I call bullshit. I've yet to see this 'exciting' dev blog you were going on about earlier this week, is that going to come out later today? |
