I literally just bought a new caracel for about 3M (which for me is a lot). I was picking up a shield booster in a 0.4 Security space. I went into the station and picked up the item and got blockaded by 2 wanted players with a warp scrambler. I tried to outrun them, but they fired a missile straight into the hull. I survived the blast, but immediately redocked at the station. I don't have enough ISK to even repair the damage (about 13k). What should I do?
P.S. I couldn't find a dedicated newcomers section, so I figured this would be the best place to post?
P.P.S. I realized after I got it that I didn't have enough $ to insure it, so if I lose it, I'm screwed.

This is indeed the correct forum to post. What you need to do is convo the person or persons that shot at you and explain your issue. They'll understand and will surely help you out. Suggest that you undock and meet them at planet one and they will use a remote armor repper to fix up your ship. Be advised that they may charge a fee for doing this, but it is just part of the game. Good luck!

Edited by: Ran Khanon on 15/06/2010 21:17:12 Take a deep breath and relax, bro.
There's a few things you can do:
Wait until just before or right after downtime (mostly downtime takes only 30 minutes or even less) and get the hell out.
Alternatively wait until you see noone else in local channel and get the hell out.
Even if there are others in system you are able to get the hell out: when you undock you can not be attacked for quite a while as long as you don't click in space or give another navigational command. Take your time to see if its safe and warp to the highsec gate if its clear and get the hell out. If it is not safe: redock after 30ish seconds, (works best if the station has a large docking range) and try to get the hell out later.

Thanks. What do you mean by "convo"? And how will I know they aren't still blockading the exit. Also, I only have 13K, so I can't really pay them anything.... Plus I already kinda ticked them off in the chat window...... (Oops.) Which "planet one"? Do you mean just the first planet in that system?
Thanks for your patience.

Edited by: Andrea Griffin on 15/06/2010 21:23:44 First of all, a cardinal rule of Eve: Never, ever undock anything that you can't afford to lose.
Just wait a while. They'll eventually get bored and leave, unless they have no life. You can always log off for 15-20 minutes, go play with your dog or whatever, and hop back on and see if they're still around. If they are, man, they must be super desperate for a kill.
You can also just exit your ship inside of the station, then undock your pod. Pods can get into warp instantly, and you have some immunity from being targeted as you undock from the station. So you can always undock your pod and warp directly to a gate, and come back for your Caracal later.
You can also try to give the people here the name of the system you're in. Maybe someone will come through to rescue you and scare away the bad guys, though this is, of course, not guaranteed...
Best of luck. And if you lose your Caracal, well. That happens, it's a learning experience, you'll be in a frigate again for a little while but it doesn't take all that long to scrap`e that much money together.

11:00 Am Eve time and lasts often only 25-30 minutes. So you can log in well before the 'official' one hour period has passed. Help us to make parrots game related today! |

Not really sure with Icelandic timezone. Check your clock -> check EVE's clock and do the maths :) Best thing to do is just log out a short while and wait until the guy who attacked you has disappeared from system. You probably don't need to wait until downtime unless you've got a ****load of ebil pirats in your local channel and they are asking you to come out and play.
Also don't undock if you see a guy called Captain Fovios in your local channel.

I just tried to leave a second ago, and there were no people attacking me but I was still jammed. Any suggestions? (There's one other person left who has a wanted status.)

If you ever loose your ship, right before it explodes, pick a station, gate, planet, asteroid belt, etc., and start hitting the warp to button. When your ship explodes your pod will insta warp. This will also work in null sec, but bubbles will prevent this from occuring.
As mentioned above, wait till downtime or when there is no one is system, undock. You have 30 sconds of invulnerability after you undock as long as you do not click in space or give any command.
Somewhere in the setting screens there is an option to turn on a signal that rotates in the upper left of your screen that shows when the session change is still in effect, and when this stops is when you become a viable target to people around you in space. When undocking, as long as you stay within docking range you will be able to dock back up at any time if there are pilots outside.
Also, when you fly to low sec to pick stuff up, fly in small ships to help with surviviability. This is never a guarantee due to smart bombs though
If you frequent a low sec system, at some point when there is no one in system, you can undock with a MWD on one of your fastes frigates. When you undock do not change your direction at all and just turn on you MWD and fly out at least 500 km and set a bookmark and name it ****** Undock for (insert station name). When you undock with pilots at the station you can warp to that bookmark without having to align since you get spit out of the station in the same place and direction, so no time is needed to align your ship. To be honest I have multiple undock BM for many stations so I can rotate which distance I warp to so as to not end up coming out of warp onto someone within the same vicinity.

If you look down a bit in the forum index, there is a newbie forum. "EVE New Citizens Q&A"
Anyway,
you're not going to be permacamped in there. They probably left shortly thereafter...they're not going to care much about a newbie in a caracal anyway.
If you want to check, undock in your pod (Right click on your ship -> leave ship). If you see people around the station, then warp off and warp back onto the station. For about 30 seconds after undocking, you cannot be locked by other players UNTIL you start aligning to warp or otherwise moving/doing something. Since pods warp instantly, there's no way for them to pod you if you do this unless they have smartbombs (which is not likely). You can dock immediately upon exiting warp, so you can safely warp back and dock up again.
*Note: This only works in lowsec and hisec. Warp disruption bubbles will make you a sad panda if you try this in 0.0
If it's clear, then just redock and cruise on out.
If you get podded, you lose any implants you have plugged in and your clone resets to the default (800K skillpoints). As long as you have less than 800k skillpoints you're fine, but if you have more than that, you'll need to upgrade your clone or risk losing some skillpoints when you're podded.
Even if your caracal does get popped, you'll get the default insurance payment so you'll be fine. Even if you lost everything, you'd get a free noobship (ibis for caldari characters) anyway, so there's really no way to lose everything.
Final suggestion: Do the tutorial if you haven't already, and maybe consider doing the mission arc that you get referred to at the end of it. You'll come out of it with a fair bit of ISK and equipment to help you start out.

edit: got times all wrong
I think EST is GMT -5, which would be EVE time - 5 hours.
So, speaking of the OP's perdicament...when I was brand spanking new, I bought my first Rupture, then bought some gunz for it. The guns were in Amamake, which of course is an exciting place to be. I jump in to get my gunz, and get blown up, I docked at the station where my gunz were, got a rookie ship and undocked...I didn't know what warp to 0 was and let auto pilot take care of my trip (yes, I was slow at picking up on mechanics)...well on my way back to the gate at a slow crawl I managed to not only lose my gunz, but also my pod, and pretty much all my money...
After that I went back and mined for a couple more weeks until I could work my way back up to another Rupture. There were a few more times in that first month that I pretty much became destitute from failure to understand mechanics properly, but never fear, you will always get another rookie ship and mining lazer to get back on your feet.
You most likely will not end up getting popped if you log off for half an hour and come back and gtfo. Most people lose interest in camping non-wartargets after like 10 minutes, especially if they're flying something that pretty much isn't really worth anything.
Of course, this could just be a clever ploy to troll C&P like 90% of the rest of the threads posted lately...

You can't activate a smartbomb within range of a station or gate, unless he drifts from the station (which would take longer than 30 seconds in a pod) a smartbomb won't touch him. While I haven't attempted smartbombing within range of a station in lowsec, I do know it can't be done in highsec

I would say that that depends on the system, the pilots, and how close to downtime this situation occured. But my comment was more in reference to if he is unable to get out before he logs out to end his play session and for future reference for any evasive movements through enemy territory.

Well just be Patient OP they will get board and leave, when they do GTFO. And as a side note when your buying stuff off the market, unless you absolutely need that mod make sure you check the Sec status of the system before you press buy item.
