I know this is a bit of a loaded question, but I'm curious how much bandwidth per hour EVE uses on average. Does anyone have an idea? Thanks!

It's supposed to work on a 56kb modem, so few bandwidth.

It depends entirely on what you're doing. Missions/PvP are obviously going to use more than spinning your ship and changing market orders.
That said, it is designed to run on a 56k modem, so in any case it's not much. You can use the in-game monitor (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+M) to see the actual usage for whatever you plan on doing.

It's been a while but I had to use a poor dial up connection for a while that I got less than 28.8k and could do lvl4 missions with well tanked BS with mostly just a bit of lag when warping into mission/rooms that lasted maybe 10 seconds or so. Mining etc was the same some lag on warp in but fine after that. I wouldn't try PVP but doing stuff in empire should be ok but not great. -- Finds camping stations from the inside much easier. My Win7 resource monitor reports that ExeFile.exe is using the following bandwidth while mining:
Average------- Down: 65 B/sec Up : 3 B/sec
Peak----------- Down: 200 B/sec Up : 25 B/sec
Hope this helps! Note: Those are Bytes per second... 1 Byte = 8 bits (to convert to the industry standard of using Mbps)

Skrypt,
Short Answer: I've been running eve dual clients and 6-7 chrome tabs, one of which is pandora, and have experienced zero lag doing mining and missions on a 1 Mb/s cable connection. Hope that helps.
Knowing as I do that you got a new Android OS phone, you're probably wondering about ways to play eve on your phone. The answer is yes, its been done.
Also, how have you been?
The answer is ALWAYS 42.

Yip,
I had my HTC hero before interwebs in my house. So played eve by tethering the phone to the PC (Plug in USB, Push button to share connection).
I will be honest and say I didn't try PvP... since interwebs was due in a day and I had to unpack anyway.
But using a mobile phone interwebs is do-able.
