Yes I did read the scientific articles and I still have some trouble understanding some of the stuff :p
1. How exactly does jump clone work? it seems to be entirely different from having one brain fried by the pod as the price to transfer the mind to a new brain.
2. What's the latency and bandwidth with inter-system data transmission? Is it supposed to be expensive or cheap?

1. I ran through the old scientific article on cloning, and it doesn't contain any information on how jump cloning works. Neither did the EVE-Wiki article on jump cloning.
2. According to the article on data transmission, such FTL systems work on the concept of quantum entanglement. Such systems' latency is, by the very nature of quantum entangelment, only limited by the latency of the processors on either end of the system. However, the article also contains the following very pertinenet paragraph:
"The only limitations of this communication system is in the capacity of the channel. Indeed, the manufacturing of the entangled 4-He superfluid is an expensive process. Furthermore, a large number of atoms are used for each byte, as a statistically relevant chaotic sequence needs to be created. The sequencing introduces a limit to the bandwidth, allowing only the transmission of x bytes/second. The amount of data sent then depletes the pool of available entangled atoms, thus limiting the total amount of data that can be sent with a given router pair."
This could be reasonably bypassed by having two such transmitters, one of which would be switched on when the other ran out of "fuel" for its transmission. However, this still retains the problem that such a process would likely be rather expensive - not for us capsuleers, who are fantastically rich by plantary standards, but for the average layman in New Eden. ----------------------------------------------
Say "Amarr ships suk, lol." I dare you.

This chron has some vague details on jump cloning. -----

i kind of wonder though, speaking of clones... could one have a jammer that prevents that clone signal from broadcasting as a form of E-War?

It's transmitted directly without intermediary or delay between the fluid router in the capsule and the receiver in the clone bay. There is no signal to jam. -----

Thanks. I'm reading one of the Eve novels and it looks like "universal" live video feed is indeed possible :O rawr |
