j/k
Seriously, I don't think cammo belongs on spaceships. Space ships are not tracked visually, they are tracked via scanners and scanners are not fooled by paint
It just doesn't belong and I can't understand why we are getting more. Obviously someone at CCP thinks it is cool, which it is not, but why do they have to subject us to this?
Go spray paint your car
Cammo makes me not want to play, I enjoy the visual aspect, have the graphics maxed and have a nice computer, all that to see a paint job that can be done with a can of Rustoleum?.

We really don't need graphics at all in a spead sheet game. Everything can be tracked on the real-time spread sheet (overview).

Yay, another thread complaining about camo paint schemes on ships.
I will respond the same way I always do...
1. I kind of like the digital camo. 2. Paint schemes really don't matter...at all. 3. If you don't like camo... a. Zoom out far enough to not see it. b. Don't buy that ship.
Thank you. |

You're right, that's why the paint doesn't matter. So they paint it something they think looks cool, or intimidating, or reflects military culture.
Answered your own question there, genius.
EDIT: Should probably clarify that paint does in fact affect electro-optical scanners, but since only Amarr use them it's a moot point for overall EVE balance. |

I wonder how much paint they must go through, considering the size of some of these ships.. we're not talking trucks, planes, tanks or boats here.. we're talking some ships 4-8 miles long.. |

In any fight, there is always jamming, targetting and sensor failures etc etc, so hell being able to NOT see the ship your firing blindly at is a good idea regardless |

I think most ship design is about looks. in space there is no logical design limits. on the oceans you have designs that are simply better ships than others and sometimes they look cool(such as the Iowa Class Battleship.) EVE is like swimming on a beach in shark infested waters,-á There is however a catch...-á The EVE Beach you also have to wonder which fellow swimmer will try and eat you before the sharks. |

Dust 514 suggest ground combat still exist in the eve universe, cadpat tw coloring may at some point have been a dominating military symbol, like it currently is in real life. Even if it do not serves any practical purpose on space ships it may just be there for historical reasons, showing that the ship is a military ship.
With the nanotechnology available in the eve universe, it probably not harder to paint camouflage then any single color, and as you say yourself the color don't really matter, so why not use camouflage on military ships? |
