Why is it that in the reports about Voltron, they completely fail to mention that the reason they owned so thoroughly was armor tanked drakes with mids full of sensor damps?
And the one time they do mention the damps, it's just a side note:
"...during a battle characterized by the use of dampeners as a way to control range for advantage."
Come on, guys. Put down the reason they were owning so we can all see.
This has been a recurring characteristic throughout the entire tournament.
"This ship blew up this ship. Then this one killed this other one. Then this guy died."
Why not get someone for the job who knows something about the game?

The reports are written by ISD, if you don't like them maybe you can volunteer and do better next time. Imo most of these ISD will be roleplayers who tend to be pretty poor pvpers but will put a lot of effort into erotic eve fan fiction.

Edited by: ISD Serathu Ashk on 21/06/2010 03:03:05 Hi, I'm Serathu Ashk, the Editor-In-Chief of the Interstellar Correspondents, the volunteer team behind the website and match reports you're referring to.
I'm sorry that you don't feel that the quality of match reports is up to the standard you expect and in some cases I do feel that we could do better. However, I ask that you remember that we are a team of volunteers and we have been extremely limited in terms of manpower over the last three weekends. In addition, pure PvP reporting is not what we do in our day to day work - we report on the changing political landscape of EVE and thus not all of our reporters are necessarily familiar with specific ships, setups or tactics. We'd love to have more people on board who can help us with this and if you think you can help, I encourage you to apply.
I'm incredibly proud of what my team has been able to achieve throughout this tournament, from producing a mountain of statistics mere seconds after a match has ended to the pictures that have been taken to the match reports in question here. Hour upon hour of hard work just because we love this game and we love the people that play it.
Given the choice between having the reports we do or none at all, I'll take what we have - and we've had an incredibly positive response to the majority of them. Does that mean they're perfect? No. Does it mean that they're written by "roleplayers who tend to be pretty poor pvpers" that "put a lot of effort into erotic eve fan fiction"? Absolutely not. Will we work on improving this? Absolutely.
I'll pass the constructive comments here on to the news team and will make sure that they're considered. In the mean time, why not apply if you think you have what it takes?

eh I thought some of the reports were pretty solid and I liked the IC's AT website Although any and all reports written by Clarity Brown were pretty much riddled with too many 'I just got a thesaurus' adverbs and adjectives in an apparent attempt to subvert her own name.
Although if that was intentional of her, that's pretty meta. I could feel that.

I'm sorry you didn't like them, but in the end, I have to make a choice on how I report and over the years, the feedback I've had has indicated that people like my efforts to give a more colourful report. Now, obviously, when you're writing something in 40 minutes to an hour at most, it doesn't always come out exactly as you wanted it and sometimes, I'll admit, my puns and metaphors can be desperately bad.
But what mean more to me than anything at tournament time are the little messages I get from people telling me that they loved their match report. That they printed it out to hang on their wall or put in a scrapbook, or that they're sitting on voice reading their favourite bits to each other and laughing. That they walk away after reading it feeling like they've done something a little bit mythic.
Those are the best moments in my whole year.
So I keep writing like that. If it comes around that I can't make people happy by writing match reports like this anymore, then yes, I'll come back to clear and simple. And if I'm covering your match next year, I will keep your preferences in mind. Like I said, I choose to write this way, so if it stops pleasing people, I can switch my style easily.
I don't actually need a thesaurus, though .

I think you are all fantastic and you did a brilliant job.
Short of manpower or not, you got the reports out very promptly and they were for the most part well written and informative. ______________________________
