After playing Deus Ex Invisible War, I chose the ending where the minds of every person the world and create a true democracy and World Peace.
Imagine if someone suddenly figured out a way to create something that would connect the minds of everyone to each other. Everyone's thoughts and memories would be shared openly.
A world without deception and lies, only truth and knowledge.
No more wars, trickery, and crime.
It would however end privacy, but the benefits I believe outweighs the cost.
Would you object to such a world or embrace it? |

Wouldn't come to happening the way you think it would.
Poker face would be poker mind (think inception) It would be chaos everywhere. Ex: You happen to be riding on the subway or something and you see a particularly cute chick riding next to her workout kickboxing jealous boyfriend and you accidentally let out a rather erotic thought about her. Hilarity ensues as boyfriend suddenly kicks your ass and everyone on the train knows why. People would know that you masturbated that morning. You think of a awesome invention that could make you millions and big companies would have it copyrighted within the hour Thinking that your job sucks would have you fired in an instant The government could pull you in at any point in time so any kind of shady thought
Essentially it would be like facebook and you can't log off. Everything you do or say is recorded. Your own thoughts would betray you. The only way to overcome this is to remove human emotion which in turn removes our humanity. Do you really want to be a borg? |

I don't see this ending well at all.
Look at democracies of today, where we struggle to balance "tyranny of the majority" every day. Imagine a world where the rest of the world knew your every thought and sought to root out anything deemed objectionable by the masses. Everything would be subject to inspection: your fantasies, your pet peeves, possibly even your dreams and nightmares. I'll keep my privacy, thanks.
Ultimately I feel any such fate would strip away our freedoms, and possibly even our humanity. In a world where every thought is shared, I don't see how we could avoid the creation of a semi-sentient "overmind" that controls everything, a product of groupthink where individuality is worn away. The Skunkworks is recruiting. -áhttps://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1540711#post1540711 |

it would end badly as you would have some people who would refuse to go on the grid. Also you cant have the mind depending on such a link because well you do not want people going crazy when the internet goes down.
People would find ways to evade the system, homes built like Faraday cages and such.
Almost nothing can make the world peaceful because humans by nature are violent. Even if everybody had a Star Trek style replicator people would just replicate guns to shoot each other. Perfect the electric car and cheap home scale fusion and the entire middle east will implode into total civil war because the Oil Gravy Train would stop. im not sure all our greed, anger, lust, jelousy, stupidity, arrogance and our genral vilont nature combined into on super entity would be good for planet earth tbh. if you want world peace i suggest a better route would be to combine the flu virus with something as deadly as anthrax. or create your own army to take over the world, a common enemy is a good thing for peace. |

or for the galaxy, we would likely figure out space travel pretty quickly fully unified.... and then shred the galaxy into a burning ruin as we went planet to planet stripping it of resources to feed the endless need of cheap **** at walmarts. Marzuq wrote:After playing Deus Ex Invisible War, I chose the ending where the minds of every person the world and create a true democracy and World Peace. Hahahahahahahahaahahah! No.
Here are some problems with World Peace: a) Limited resources are limited. If there's only enough food for 80% of the hive mind to survive, how do you choose the 20%? And how quietly will the 20% go into the darkness?
b) People lie to themselves and delude themselves quite often. How many sociopaths would be in the hive mind? Also, people who take Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck seriously would be in the hive mind as well.
c) Borg effect, as brought up previously. Domineering/charismatic personalities would remain domineering/charismatic in the hive mind.
d) Irreconcilable differences- If 50% of the hive mind is pro-life and 50% is pro-choice, what does that do to World Peace?
e) Life is strife. We make constant and difficult choices, opinions, impressions, etc.. IMO, if World Peace existed then *everyone* would have the same opinion, which means everyone would think the same, which means Humanity would be *boring* and stagnant.
World Peace is a tough (impossible?) problem to solve. The method that has the best success would be StoicFaux's patented "if you eliminate the problem, there's no need for a solution" method of problem solving. For example, instead of solving world peace or world hunger, you simply nerve gas the planet. World Peace and World Hunger would no longer be problems, thus there would be no need to solve them.
You can tell me what is and isn't Truth when you pry the tinfoil from my cold, lifeless head.

You will retain your freewill, life will continue on as usual.
But the barrier between the minds of people will disappear. |
