only problem i have really is my dram got camped into a 0.0 system last night and ive been waiting all day to escape....
p.s with regards to the amount of downtime, i dont personally think its a problem BUT ccp allways give us a time and never manage to stick to it so they should either not give us one, or overestimate the ammount of time it takes. if the server is back up earlier, we will praise them for doing such a good job. unlike normal where they go over time and lots of boring people come on here and moan about the time its taking ~(even tho most of them dont have the slightest clue what kinda work is involved to migrate a corporate server like TQ)

Originally by: CCP Fallout Hello all,
We have successfully moved our Tranquility servers to their new location, and Tranquility is scheduled to return to service at 23:00 UTC. Our original plan was to have the Web sites and Tranquility returned to service at 15:00 UTC, however, during the move we discovered network and SAN switch issues, which resulted in an extended service return delay. We have resolved those issues, and are working on returning Tranquility to service as quickly as possible.
Thank you all for your patience while we undertook this necessary server move. For more information about the move itself, please check out CCP YokaiÆs dev blog .
Update #1: EVE Gate is tied to Tranquility and will be down until TQ returns to service.
Update #2: We are investigating an issue with the EVE Store, and are working on re-enabling the API.
Update #3: The API has been returned to service.
We know you are working very hard to get the server migration done properly. We appreciate your efforts.

Oi! stop the whining, pleeease! if a day without loggin into eve is so bad for you, I would recommend you to get some other interests, because beeing that addicted to a game cant really be healthy....
And the whines about "zomg I pays for this! I demand reimbursementz!!!1one!" imagine if CCP didnt bother to try to do EVE better for all of us...it would not be the game it is today. Stop crying about a few hours.. Its not like EVE is expensive for anyone who actually cares to get a job and earn some damn money.
So to all the whiners, cut your hair, get a job, and stop whining.

Originally by: Amar Alloin My concern about the downtime is not about reimbursement for the time lost. It is centered around me being a new layer, and as such my skills don't take 47 days each to train. I made an effort to set up my queue to finish 18:00 server time as that was plenty to cover the stated downtime. Now with the endlessly extended downtime, my skill queue is completely empty and my time lost represents whole skill levels I can get as a low skill level player, which makes a huge impact on the game for me. What's going to be done about this, if anything? It's not like it's a 1 day delay on a 50 day skill that you aren't exactly salivating over anyway...
DON"T EVER DO THAT AGAIN!!!
always put an long skill in que when they mess with the server's and such

CCP does a good job, just their time prediction that sucks badly.

I like totally did a 2 year IT system support once. I think you should put me in charge of IT solutions for CCP. In my IT course we did stuff like problem solving a PC that would not boot up properly. With my expert diagnosis I came to the conclusion someone had inserted a floppy disk and set the bootdevice priority to the A: drive. I don't see how CCP can refuse my aid after hearing a story of such success.

shame, the time EVE will be back up and running, it will be so late for me here that I will be sound asleep.
If even more time is needed, while it is kinda useless wish, it would be nice if we got something out of this. Perhaps not in game, but in revelations of coming things, stuff that wouldnt normally get out early.
This naturally depends on if CCP feels, like that they should do something nice for the players after such a unexpectedly long downtime...

Originally by: Skera hope its just jitters, but i've noticed that the api feed claims in evemon that my char suddenly takes 10 ekstra days for training! on one char its 15 days extra, than before dt, but generally 10+ days added!
Exception is for low rank skills though..
The noticable thing is for capital industrial ships before dt it was around 38 days now its 46 days, other example is gallente carrier 5, before 42 days now 56 days..
I hope this is just due to the fact that server is not up yet!
anyone else notice the same bug ?

Lol, some people here... I thought EVE Community was supposed to be "mature". Well I guess the majority still is, but some here are.... lool.
I have played many other MMO's and I think CCP provides one of the best services by far...
How many other game designers let players have a say in game design etc... (CSM) How many game designers actually play with the community, and are constantly reading the forums troughly? Organize tournaments and hand out prices, and also sponsor certain player based idea's (I saw them sponsor the lottery for example a few times). Besides that I saw them organize fleet battles aswell, kinda cool :)
Overall I think CCP is doing really well and tries to keep everyone updated on stuff as much as they can, and they interact very well with the community. I can't believe when I see those player reply's crying about getting some game time back because unexpected things happend that made this delay. Look on the bright side, maybe many wont lag so much anymore when there is a huge battle going on etc.

EVE EULA:
"While CCP attempts to have the System available at most times, CCP does not guarantee that the System will always be available, or that the System will not become unavailable during Game play. The System may become unavailable for a number of reasons, including without limitation during the performance of maintenance to the System, for the implementation of new software, for emergency situations and due to equipment or telecommunications failures."
So stop complaining about reimbursment! God damned!

I haven't read the Eve forums much until today. I wish I hadn't started, because up until now I had thought that the general maturity level of Eve players was more than that of World of Warcraft players.
Disappointed.

i used to sell crack for a living. A lot of you people are reminding me of my customers when i would tell them i was on my way but would take a couple hours to show up, yet they still stayed awake to 4 in the morning just to get their fix when i finally did show up. When i quit, i told my customers that they should really think about rehab. Maybe a few of you should take that same advice. Eve isn't everything, spend time with you family, read a book, watch some TV go out for a walk, jerk it to that new **** you downloaded the other night, dare i say, even play another video game. Just Cause 2 is pretty good for killing mindless hours that you would spend playing eve. David Cross also put out a new book that i heard is good for a laugh. And i don't know about over seas, but the weather state side is great today and the fair is in town. Tons of things to do that don't involve *****ing about eve servers being down while you work through your DT's Sincerely, ♠ Trip ♠ |

I'm happy as I can be about the upgraded servers, leaping for joy in fact. Just be a little patient ok?
Clearly some of you have no clue about what relocating a server like TQ involves.
I suggest you take this opportunity to use a screwdriver and take apart the computer sitting in front of you. By the time you blow all the dust out of it, install a bit more DRAMM, and a new Graphics Card, Tranquility will be back up.
Wait, you suggest to spend 8 hours with cleaning my computer and installing new RAM and a new graphics card?! CCP's estimations aren't good enough to spend the extra time with such an expensive hobby.
Share some of the exquisite stuff you're smoking. NOW!
I'm also very pleased with all the IT guys in here complaining about people not knowing that such a move takes many many hours and completely forget that the guys at CCP made the inital 6 hour estimate.
Here ya' go... ...

Originally by: Aslan Inbarr I have to say I'm amazed that there are people who play and understand eve that actually took the initial downtime estimate seriously. You have to have been idiot savants or extremely naive to think that this was going to go off without a hitch. Quit whining, go outside, go to the pub, whatever- it's your own idiotic fault that you wasted a day waiting for the server to come back up.
This tbh ^^
Last time I had to do something similar to what CCP just did, it took 2 days instead of an estimated 6-8 hours b/c of **** happening...people should be happy they got it done in less than a day.

As someone that has previously deployed a 400 unit cluster, you people have no clue the amount of stuff required to set something like this up.
You have to pull each rack out, install power, network, do your cross links, hook up no less than 4 cables per server and cut your hands on sharp metal edges. This isn't "A" server, it is a cluster of servers. It isn't like you just move one unit and your done. Now keep in mind they are also overhauling their existing network as well. Frankly, doing it under 72 hours seems like a dream.
Kudos to CCP on this epic attempt to fix known issues :) |

I applaud you for being the one to take the time to look that up and post it for all the complainers who swear they pay for 24/7 access to the servers and should be reimbursed. EVE and every other MMO have a cluase like this in their EULA, and people need to stop complaining about getting their buck a month back for extended downtimes. That said, I agree that CCP should just double their estimates, but whatever. It is not a big deal. Our internet spaceships and funny money will eventually return.

What would be nicer than reimbursement is if they stopped the index timers. I know things take time, and thats cool, but it'll kinda suck to log back in hand have dropped multiple levels across our military and industry indicies.
