Type 1, reads the news, saw the extended down time and set a 10day plus skill just in case.
Type 2, doesn't read the news, didn't know about the dt, and forgot to set long skills
Type 3, always has a long skill set cause they know better.
Type 4, reads the news, saw the dt coming, but assumed it would be back up on time and only set skills accordingly.
So my question is, why cant more people be like type 1's?

Because we're noobs and have 54k skillpoints and 100% bonus, thus we DON'T HAVE a 10d skill? Because we'd rather see that 1d 4h skill finished that we could use right away, instead of a 10d skill that I don't really need... and that I will remove right after DT?
Or just because we like to play the game our way, instead of yours? Mind you?

Because that would give them less to whinge, whine and ***** about ?
Doubt the crew had much sleep...
Doubt they got paid overtime...
Doubt they enjoyed it so much they took longer than needed.
But then I'm just a Fool

Agreed, ccp always gives 1 or 2 skills initially to lvl 4, training to lvl 5 is 4 days.

3/5 here.
I tell noobs in corpchat every day before patches/upgrades to set a long skill, but some people just can't understand that hamsters need sleep too.

Type 1.4. Read the news, set a long skill queue, risked everything on the queue properly loading the next skill during DT. It worked this time.

Type 4.5; saw the news, knew about it, had plenty of skills they could have trained, even logged on before DT, left spare space in their skill cue, figureing that CCP couldn't possible take more than 24 hours for a DT, stayed up until 10 am (local time) before going to bed, woke up at 6pm and saw the server still down |

Type 5 crew checking in. Just by chance the skill I was training lasted with about 15 minutes to spare.

That's why you fill your queue with 23 hours worth of skills then tack on a 1d+ skill, viola you get more than 1 day worth of training in your queue...

Whoops. There was DT? I'm type 4.a.) Saw the news, didn't care. Have no skills in queue at the moment and I'm on a 10 hour shift, and STILL don't care. It's a game I enjoy, but I'm in no hurry. :D

The OP is ignorant.
How about people who check the news daily but CCP posts the news less than 24 hours in advance. I was on shortly after downtime the previous day and there was no mention of it then.
Personally I think extended downtime should be posted 48 hours in advance. People shouldn't be punished for having a life and not checking the news several times a day in the off chance there is going to be extended down time the next day.

No there are only 10 types of EVE players. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
