Good luck with that. A so-called passive align is nonsense; if your speed is 0, you're not aligned. In fact, you can point in any direction and get into warp just as slow.

look how about this, instead of mining in your hulk, most of you have alts or friends, mine in a battleship while your friend picks the stuff up and stays aligned to some where or use an orca to drop it into. in all if they really do want you dead itll take an obscene amount of pilots to take you and they only get points for mackinaws and hulks. also my orcaservice is available in high sec Please re-size your signature to the maximum allowed of 400 x 120 pixels with a maximum file size of 24000 bytes. No targets means no interest. Park your Hulks for a week, go pull out your best ship and run some missions for a change of pace. If you're living in null sec, go join some corp fleet ops, pull out a frig and offer to do your best to tackle or go out and help to corp stock up on some ice that week. Anyone who mines, just use your head. Let' em pop freakin macro's.
No need for this, just plan for it and do some other stuff eve has to offer.
Nuff said.

uhhm, hulkageddon.
fly mining battleships for a change, mining rokh for example if you want to have ultra lawls, 100 EHP right there.
It will take 30 seconds for concord to arrive, so gankers must be doing more than 3400 DPS per second, this amounts to 4 battleships.
get an RR alt for yourself, in an overtanked osprey... or a corp mate in a blackbird to protect you from suicide attempts. Do not mine solo, do not stay close to other gang members or you will be smartbombed.

If enough people boycott mining during the event (even a little before) the mineral prices will climb up, resulting in more expensive ships, which means participating in hulkageddon will be more expensive. ----- David - Proud to be saving the universe since 1984 Wrangler - Saving the drunks by drinking their beer since 1992 [violet]Saving the breweries by sending their produce to Wra |

Why not just pull all geddons from the market, or double their price during Hulkageddon - that way it'll at least cost them, and you'll make more profit

I don't understand war mechanics but, though the OP's offer is interesting, How about forming an alliance and all corps join it for a week and that alliance wardec as many geddon corps as the alliance can afford. We can just have a week of all out highsec blood. Ewar, drones, rifters etc, just total carnage? like peasants and pitchforks kinda thing?
Hows that sound or won't that work?

Leave the Hulk at home and fit a Rohk, Apocalypse, Hyperion or Maelstrom for mining.
With the right fit it will outmine a Retriever and have a massive EHP.
Either that or fly battle hulks with Trojan Orcas nearby......

It's more about killing cheaters and those who play in a way that's tantamount to cheating. It's already been noted that the hulkageddon guys (intentionally) typically don't bother pointing/tackling their targets. If you're actually playing, escape is trivial. If you're AFK-mining or botting, all you're doing is screwing up the economy for legit miners and industrialists, so blowing your ass up is a public service.
It's basically deer hunting season. They kill off the weak and diseased deer and reduce the population from levels which pose a danger to the ecosystem (economy). There's pleasure in service.
(Not actually a participant, but I understand what it's about.)

It's a bandwagon thing. Once the Hulk manufacturers deem the price of Hulks too low, they create this "fun and exciting" thing for all the ub3r pvp3rs, and other random imbeciles to participate in. The sheep do the killing, and the builders make money. Everyone's a winner.
And no, I don't mine in empire. I'm just amused by it.

Whoa, I don't see this mention of Hulks using weapons platforms to destroy submarines anywhere in my 30-book Time Life series on World War II...Hmm. That's funny. I could've sworn they made sure to include a few chapters on internet spaceshipz, considering the role those played.
Also, what is fairness? I heard it was some mystical concept of human thinking that couldn't exist at the same time as the EVE universe, but I could be wrong.
TL;DR if you've never shot at another player's ship because you mine 23/7 then you're in for a ride on the whaaaaambulance when Hulkageddon 3 comes along.

Sounds simple enough but you will never get people to stop mining.
During the last Hulkageddon I was looking to witness some live ganks when I found a blob of Macks and Retrievers with an orca ice mining.
I even told them that it was not very wise to clump toghether like that, specially with Hulkageddon going on. They shrugged me off, they were "well tanked/protected" and even if they all lost their boat, their epic ice mining ops would make enough money to replace any losses.
In other words: they just didn't really care. And I'm betting lots of miners don't. They just don't see it as a really big threat. And since I have not witnessed a single suicide gank in spite of searching actively for them during the last Hulkageddon, they might even have a point.

Hulkageddon makes me happy.
What, other than the Alliance Tournament, grabs so much attention from the entire playerbase?
I wish we had more large and well-organized events.
Alliance Tournament is like Eve's Thanksgiving and Hulkageddon is like Eve's Halloween.
Trick or treat!

I'm a miner and lived my life in both high-sec and null-sec. All I can say is that Hulkageddon is a blessing when it comes to getting rid of macro miners. Not only that, it takes experience for a Hulk pilot to operate a mining op with this event going around. I've done mining ops before and survived. This is what hulkageddon provides. It provides a good lesson to the newbies on the realities of Eve and how no system in New Eden is never safe. Here is a trick I learned in 0.0 space.
1. First and foremost, pick a system with minimal number of locals. This makes it easier for you to spot trouble before it reaches you.
2. In that system, create a safe spot and use that as a reference point.
3. Go to a belt and use the ship's tactical overlay to pick a straight route where your Hulk can constantly mine different rocks on a straight line.
4. Create a book mark on the start of the line facing the safe spot you created. You can create multiple paths on the same belt if your like - which means creating more safe spots for each.
5. Do the same thing over again for as many belts as you like. Randomize your patterns and frequency to confuse the gankers.
Don't forget to use insta-warp spots for stations. Once you setup everything, simply start at the beginning of the straight route in your hulk while aligned to the safe and warp out at the first sign of trouble.
