~90m gets you the pack.
I guess we are seeing a turn in part of CCP on the cost of advanced skills. Trade skills follow the same pattern of the advance t2-required skills. On the other hand trade skills should not be considered in the same category with that, but it does help with isk running out of the game. Traders were the ripe targets to pluck since most of us do have excess isk in our pockets
But, this will slap in an ugly way all ppl trying to enter the trade scene, it made the profession more of a "priviledged club" than a straight profession. But, shooters do have expenses and we traders have none actually (apart from our itties and maybe bm sets), and a bs does cost more than just 90m. So I can't really complain if I just have to pay a one-time 90m fee, but I am kinda worried about the newcomers. Maybe they should just stick with agent running/mining or even small-time trading untill they get the money to make a choice: bs or trade skills.

You picked the three expensive skills to illustrate your point, but the fact is, you can be a successful trader without those skills. Yes, they are useful, but not essential.

That's because all us traders are freakin rich!
Basically it means if you are a newb and want to trade tough bananas.

I doubt most traders will need Wholesale. I can live quite easily without it 50 or so orders are enough for me.

I think Wholesale is more for the individual who runs sales for a fairly good sized corp.
ie. if you really need that for your corp, 31 million for an investment for a -corp- to empower its primary salesperson isn't that bad. One time investment for super specialization training, basically.
If your corp is spreading its sales across regions using a multitude of salespeople, you can skip the skill anyway.

I applaud the specialization inherently necessary in the time and isk investment to be a high level trader. Personally i wish there was an additional skill to allow another hyper-level of 32 additional orders per skill level beyond wholesale. I would pay 100M+ for that one in a heartbeat. |

Seriously, if you NEED those skills then the isk will not be a problem. Trade, Retail, Broker Relations, Accounting etc should be enough. The plus side is that people who aren't interested in trading are placing fewer orders (or rather, less ridiculous orders). So the market is a little more stable and isn't gutted by people selling all their loot for less than it costs to make.

I like the new trading scene. There are much fewer stupid sales (eg 1000 trit at 10,000,000 isk). You can trade in more items. You can (with the right skills) trade across a region and alter prices. And its only right that someone who invests more time and money in these skills should have more ability. I suspect the whining is from uber-PvP players who want to just trade without any impact on them, and not have to spend precious time training new skills. So leave the trading floor to traders. Its not that expensive to get set up with the first 6 trade skills. And if you cant make isk to get these then perhaps trading isnt for you? New people should just remember 'in the old days' we had to physically fly to stations to place sell orders - how old fashioned. New people have it made....
On another note - I'd like to see a function to stack purchases. I'm getting sick of piles of tiny amounts in stations I never intend to visit. Come on CCP - you ask us to be limited to a set number of sell orders - why cant I sell my 103+207+400+1003 nocx as 1713 nocx?? Its ore I own in one place. I've petitioned - pls can other petition as well.

Agreed. Asset list needs some kind of stacking and splitting functionality.

I disagree, it all depends on what you trade.

i currently have 120+ orders open of 125, and it is not enough! i need 5 unused orders to be at least a bit flexible, when it comes to oportunity trading.
i am currently training trade to 5, after that i will max out wholesale, but these 21 extra orders, i get after 20+ days are already reserved. so i defently need something like the suggested mega-sale skill!
oh, and i am only a small trader producing and selling for myself, not for my corp. no and i do not have 'nuff money to buy another account and make a 2nd trader char. (beside the time it would take to train all needed trade skills to 5) |
