Someday ccp will wise up , and say this patch will take 2 days, in the knowledge that they plan to get it done in 2 hours, then the forums will (should) be full of praise that the patch was sorted quicker then promised. Though i suspect that the majority of posters will still be complaigning about it.

That won't work, as CCPs downtime will always take published estimate + n.

Scotty never delivered on time yet he made Kirk think he was.
Actually he always told the captain that he needs XX amount of time, where the XX = "required time" times two.
So if he finished the half of the time he requested originally, he was the big man in engineering.

It may in fact be a rule of nature.. Published Estimate + n i believe it is more like Published Estimate + n*(x^a) where "a" is the amount of hours the original estimate measured in hours. "n" is the amount of pies ccp has had delivered and "x" is the amount of hamsters currently running on the wheels..
Due to my explicit in sight i happen to know this is 3 hamsters Pie situation is a difficult one - i predict 41
so this time we get 2+ + 41*(3^2+)
i would calculate it but i misplaced my calculator..

I think CCP should bring in EVE gamers and let them attempt to do a patch day, then they can experience the amount of work involved and would inevitably shut everyone up when it comes to people b*tching and moaning like spoilt brats;
"OMG WAAAAAAA I CAN'T PLAY FOR AN HOUR, MOMMMMMY"
I've heard adults moan like their kids the past week due to unforeseen problems, people need to man up and get a real life. o/

No-one is saying that patching the game is easy. What we ARE saying is that CCP havent got a clue as to how to work out deadlines.
To mess it up so soon after the last one isnt because of problems, its sheer incompetence.
It would be nice to get an accurate timeframe, one that people can base their day around, if anything there a little too optimistic about the patching and DT's.
Thing is if they announce saying "We are expecting a 8 hour DT to patch" people would have something to say about that duration. Same if they don't live up to their stated downtimes
People are just never happy lol

This lack of time estimation skill is getting somewhat silly.
But, if they did overestimate, just added 12 hour on or whatever, I still imagine people would whine that they missed out on 'extra time' the other people who were refreshing the server status got, since they assumed they should come back at the time stated.
Though I think overall volume of whine would be less if it was overestimation instead of underestimation.
I think I know which I would prefer. And isn't overestimating and finishing under schedule better for public image overall really? |

13:30, 14:30, next will be 16:00 then 18:30 final ... i guess it sounds familiar :)
Lets talk about 2 nice examples: 1. Fire the management there, they inform us about downtimes and have no idea how long it will need to work again, and let right directly developers inform us how much time they need to finish it up 2. Better tell the DT will be extended to 18:30, finish ur work sooner and claim the "flawless victory" as get all the "blaim" here arround

We apologize for any inconvenience.
Considering how often they miss their estimated completion times, either by a couple hours or a complete day, its starting to change from inconvenience to incompetence... Keep up the good work, just hire someone who can accurately forecast how long a job will take.... |

Is becoming more incompetent than past events possible?
Answer : Yes
1: We get palmed of with what 25k SP for loss of over 1 day of gaming 2: When you decide to introduce this SP bonus, you decide to take even more time out of our gaming day.
I cannot believe the fact that every thinks oh great we are getting extra SP, but really this is the worst possible "gift" as its hardly anything,
What about the thousands of people that lost a days gaming, who dont care about extra SP and would just want their day back?
This is a sneaky way for CCP to save thousands upon thousands in RL Cash.
People need to wake up an smell the fresh air because we are being fed S***.

I wonder how effective CCP would be at meeting deadlines if the several thousand customers started applying item #14 of the EULA...
"In the event of a material breach of CCP's obligations to provide access to and use of your Account, the System, Game, Game Content or User Content, your sole and exclusive remedy shall be a refund of any pre-paid subscription fees attributable to the period during which you were denied such access and use, or an amount equal to the value of three (3) months' subscription fees, whichever is less."
It might be a bit of an incentive to finish as promised if it started costing them money every time they missed a deadline...

You know. If you think you can do a better job, CCP are always looking for new members to join their team. Would you like me to refer you to their recruitment page with a link?

Anyone that cant see that CCPs customer service//quality control stinks, needs a Titan shoving where the sun doesnt shine in order to wake them up.

Do you really want people to be fired for this? Lose their jobs, default on their mortgage? Abandoned by their wife and children? Finally ending up on the streets, desperate, hungry and alone? Just because you couldn't play with your spaceship?

OK you guys dont realize obviously that TQ dt ea day can take up to 1h. In fact it takes 16mins to 23mins only almost everyday. So lets say 20mins dt everyday. So now 60mins-20mins=40mins x 7d=280mins which means we basically have no rights to cry and complain about ccp being 1 or 2 or even 4h late cos of patching. They give us extra time everyday at least 30mins due to shorter dt's but i never saw post saying ''thx ccp for quick dt, nice job'' everyone only fking post **** when something goes wrong. Well quess what thats how it is, if you dont like it than dont play online games. Im not saying im very happy TQ is still down but crying and yelling definately doesnt help lol. Patience my love, patience.
