The previous radio topic was closed. I see that you can now add your own music to the radio so that's good. But what about adding m3u files or other stream type files? Or add the stream manually? Example: "http://62.233.95.180:8000/live (Discover Trance Radio - London)" Just being able to add the stream link would possibly make things better, the m3u files just keep track of the locations and links. I've had many broken steam files in the past and my method to fix them is open them in a text editor and just leave the stream link and name it m3u so it works with all media players. Shouldn't that work on EVE?

Being able to listen to EVE-Radio in game would be a VERY nice feature indeed.

But would increase bandwidth.

bandwidth of WHO? I didn't say EVE to host the radio stations. If you put in your OWN radio station, it will only increase YOUR OWN and THE RADIO STATION's bandwidth. It's like using Steam's Browser or EVE's browser. they both load web pages but they don't use EVE's bandwidth, it's still a browser, your using some other site's bandwdith and your own.

Why do you want to "promote" only one external service?
Is CCP have an affiliation with them in order to promote them and not somebody else? Are CCP doing advertising in game now?
The last thing CCP wants is "favoritism", they already have been caught with their hands in the cookie jar previously a number of times doing this.

CCP can not get in trouble for what users play. Adding M3U files to the radio from your own PC should have no effect on CCP whatsoever. I mean it's about the same as us playing that M3U file in Windows Media Player just doesn't require minimize or media buttons.

Fine as long as it is user customisable, but I dont want a button on it saying "EVE Radio" for that particular station.

Well that's the good thing about being allowed to add your own streams. Many different radio stations whenever you want. Radio stations give out their stream files too. If need, I can tell users how to modify their stream file to work with EVE Radio if EVE decides to implement it. Example of a good radio station: http://www.newrock1049x.com/ Also, Google "Discovery Trance" for a good free techno radio stream.

I support this idea. I listen to Rush Limbaugh on my real-world commute, and I'd like to be able to listen to him while flying my freighter 20 jumps to Jita, too!

I think this would be fairly simple to do. From my point of view, this would probably only take the devs at most a day? to implement. I think they should make it to where all music added is based on whatever your computer can play though that would be harder I think. Can we get a dev here to reply on this?
