So I stockpiled robotics during the time you could manufacture them cheaply. The price for them has been steadily rising since they removed NPC sell orders. I've been doing research and looking at trends, but someone please just tell me outright: Are robotics going to fluctuate around 12-15k per unit, or if I wait long enough, will I be able to sell for 20k a unit? I don't want to throw away a fortune, but I also could use the liquid now.

you should probably sell it all at 12k as soon as possible

And you are looking for a straight, unbiased, good advice on this, from the forums, really?

There is always the stock market advice: sell half.
Or sell enough to cover your costs: the rest is "found/house money" that you many not be as emotionally tied to if it drops in price.
But the most brilliant Zen strategy I read on the forums: after knowledgeably analyzing everything, assign an outcome and flip a coin. The instant you see the outcome, are you pleased or disappointed - you have your answer.

Thank you for your replies, but none of this really helps me. I know there are a lot of people who just give me false answers to further their own profit - but could some benevolent, wise, but feeling-nice soul please give me an honest idea? Are these going to go to 20k in the next month or two?

You're honestly expecting someone to: a) predict the future b) release news that may very well change that future
especially when anyone who cares enough to do market research on this particular product is in all likelihood a direct competitor?

Mate the markets player driven so unless they can see the future they cant give u a certain answer.

Just curious, how will you know the benevolent wise soul from the selfish greedy jerk? As soon as you figure that one out I think you win EVE.

There is no answer to this question. The price could stay where it's at for months, or spike to 40k/unit. Please lock thread.

Since I'm already fully invested included what I decided to risk in bonds on PI here's my take on robotics prices based on one component. For what it's worth...
Robotics - assume fixed demand due to POS requirements and semi-constant pos numbers deployed - assume inadequate supply due to continually rising price - assume people are too lazy to produce their own as evidenced by continued demand and will continue to be so - assume market manipulation not at play due to massive isk amounts required. (hundreds of billions at current consumption?)
Reactive/Precious Metals: Requires 80/5 units to produce a unit of mechanical parts. If you do the math that means each unit of mechanical parts should costs at least 10k/unit based on current jita prices without taking any profit for conversion time into account. So why aren't mechanical parts at 10k+/unit? Easy answer, mechanical parts were a seeded npc item. So continual influx of stockpiled supplies is keeping price artificially low. Also explains why you see orders of 400k units for sale occasionally etc. People see the current increase, get greedy and sell below true value.
What happens when these npc supplies are depleted? (in days/weeks/months) Mechanical parts prices must rise to meet cost of producing from raw materials. Raw materials will also spike heavily due to increased demand which is essentially at zero atm due to negative pricing - they are as low now as they will ever be- but lets assume they didn't for ease of calculation.
4k current price for a mech part goes to 10k future * 10 units required = increase of cost of robotics of 60k/3 = 20k assuming consumer electronics stays the same (another npc item so it won't either)
My Prediction: Robotics increase 20-40k/unit over the next few weeks as npc stockpiles are depleted unless a massive glut of new PI products hits the market due to perceived profits and increased participation occurs among players.

Well, if you believe in efficient markets and no insider info, then there is an answer - the current price. The equilibriam of the interactions of all the players nets out to the current price. If significantly more players though it was going to be 24k in a month, it would not be 12k today.

The price will simply rise till gread gets more people into PI. Then they will fall till people stop and then it will raise till they come back and at somepoint prices will find a happy med. Is it a rock? Point a Lazer at it and profit. Is it a ship? Point a Lazer at it and profit. I dont realy see any differnces here. |

Obviously, the price will continue to slowly rise as people slowly dump their stock, slowing the inflation.

Basically all the Consumer Electronics in jita were just bought out -- less than 750,000 left for sale -- that may affect robotics price soon. Cons-Elec are in line for a massive price correction, buy them while you still can (I got mine).
